Driving ho took over six hours on the highway.
The distance was indeed quite far.
If Chen Feng hadn’t bought so many things this ti, and had a few paintings to take ho, he would have definitely flown instead, which would get him ho in no more than two hours.
Wu ngting was in a similar situation, having bought quite a few gifts for her family. Plus, she would need a car back ho, which was why she decided to drive.
Otherwise, a little over an hour by plane would have been sufficient for her to reach her destination.
The two of them drove their separate cars ho, with Chen Feng leading the way and Wu ngting following closely behind.
However, after more than an hour, as expected, Chen Feng had left her far enough behind that she was out of sight.
But, they had agreed to et halfway at a rest stop to take a break.
About three hours later, Chen Feng arrived at the rest stop first and waited for almost half an hour before Wu ngting showed up.
By that ti, Chen Feng had already finished eating.
Seeing Chen Feng, Wu ngting complained with a look of reproach, "You drive too fast. Can’t you drive a little slower and wait for ?"
Chen Feng replied with a smile, "This is the highway, not that I’m driving fast; you’re driving too slow. Alright, sit down and take a rest first. What would you like to eat? I’ll get it for you."
After driving for three hours on the highway, Wu ngting was indeed tired and didn’t fuss, simply asking for a couple of things to eat: at-filled zongzi (glutinous rice dumplings), fried potatoes, and boiled corn.
There were many food options available at the rest stop, but these three were undoubtedly the most convenient.
Chen Feng nodded and brought her those three items, also including a cup of hot milk. Whether she could eat that much or not, Chen Feng didn’t concern himself.
As Wu ngting was eating, a man suddenly walked up briskly, his face lit up with surprise as he called out, "Wu ngting!"
Turned around in astonishnt, Wu ngting couldn’t help but exclaim, "Zhao Qigao!"
"Haha, I really didn’t expect to bump into our class beauty here. What a coincidence, right?" Zhao Qigao said with a look of excitent.
The man was tall, about 1.8 ters, wore glasses, and had a handso face. He was dressed smartly, with a large watch on his wrist and BMW car keys in hand, clearly the image of wealth.
"It is quite the coincidence. Are you heading back to Lu City?" Wu ngting also seed pleased, smiling as she inquired.
"Yeah. I’ve been playing around in Xiu Zhou for nearly half a month, got nagged by my grandma every day, couldn’t stand it anymore, so I decided to head back ho. You’re heading ho too, right? Perfect, we can go together."
"Oh, okay. What are you doing now? Still playing around, or have you found so real work?"
Zhao Qigao put on a pretense of being frustrated as he responded, "Don’t think I’m just playing, alright? I’ve been investing in a bar with a friend since college. After running it for over two years, I sold it off and made more than a hundred thousand. I ca to Xiu Zhou this ti to look into an investnt opportunity. Playing around was just a side thing."
"Oh, really? What are you doing now? Being a boss?"
"Sothing like that. I’ve invested in a branded clothing store in Lu City. Of course, I’m just one of the shareholders. I don’t handle the daily operations; I just get the year-end dividends. Also, I plan to invest in a milk tea shop after the new year, Gugu Milk Tea, you know it? It’s really popular lately. I checked out their Xiu Zhou headquarters and several of their physical franchise stores on site, felt pretty good about it. I’m planning to franchise after the new year."
"Milk tea shops seem quite nurous, and business looks good."
"True, young people love milk tea these days. Gugu Milk Tea has only risen to popularity recently, and there aren’t many franchise stores in Lu City yet. If I open one there, I should be able to make a quick buck."
"Must be quite an investnt for a milk tea shop, right?"
"Not too big. If it’s just renting a storefront, probably around seven to eight hundred thousand."
"Seven to eight hundred thousand is not expensive, huh?"
"In college, I borrowed two million from my dad as a startup fund, and I still have about a million left. I should have enough to cover it."
"You’re impressive! I’m just a poor person, can’t afford to ss with you."
"This ti when I go back, I plan to scope out so locations in the city, find a suitable shop. Got any good suggestions?"
"What suggestions could I have? I don’t understand business."
"Ah, what a pity. With a top student’s brain like yours, if you learned business, you’d surely be much better than a bottom student like ."
"You really were terrible at studying, but you do have so talent in business."
"I can’t compare to a top student like you when it cos to studying, but I don’t think I am that bad. I got into Lu City University on my own rits, after all."
"You’ve got the nerve to say that. You had the worst grades in our class."
"Maybe the worst in our class, but I was average in other classes."
"Heh, your skin is still as thick as ever."
...
Wu ngting and Zhao Qigao were high school classmates and it seed they hadn’t seen each other for a long ti. Their unexpected reunion here had them chatting away amicably.
Chen Feng sat across from Wu ngting, unable to get a word in. But then, he didn’t really want to. Occupied with his phone, he sent a WeChat ssage to his mother and Sun Xiaorui, saying he’d be ho in two to three hours.
Then, Chen Feng started reading the news.
It was only when Wu ngting finally rembered Chen Feng sitting across from her that she introduced him to Zhao Qigao, "Oh, right, his na is Chen Feng, and he’s my boyfriend."
"Ah!" Zhao Qigao, who had been all smiles and in good spirits just a mont ago, was suddenly dumbfounded.
Chen Feng, who was browsing on his phone, was also stunned and gave a look of annoyance at Wu ngting, who was trying to suppress her laughter. Then, he proactively explained to Zhao Qigao, "Don’t listen to her nonsense; I’m ngting’s friend. Yeah, we’re close, she calls brother, and I treat her like my own little sister."
