Chen Feng was sowhat surprised to discover that Wu ngting’s ho was actually located in a villa community within a bustling comrcial area.

This villa compound had been around for so ti, almost twenty years old—they were duplex Western-style houses.

According to what Wu ngting had said, her family had managed to buy this place after so demolition compensation, along with so savings from her parents. It had cost less than three million yuan at the ti, but now it would probably be worth ten million.

Nevertheless, her family was really not wealthy. Both her parents had fairly ordinary jobs—her father was a minor cadre in a state-owned enterprise and her mother was a dance teacher.

The total annual inco of the two spouses combined would not exceed three hundred thousand yuan.

A family like this in the city center could only be described as average, particularly since both parents’ salaries were quite fixed, so it wasn’t as if they could beco exceedingly wealthy.

Of course, their villa was admittedly very valuable now.

Two cars pulled up in front of the villa and not long after both occupants had alighted from their respective vehicles, the front door of the villa opened.

At the entrance stood a middle-aged man with glasses who had an air of scholarly refinent, and a middle-aged woman who was dressed quite youthfully and had a good figure.

There was no need to guess—it had to be Mr. and Mrs. Wu. They looked much younger than Chen Feng had imagined.

Co to think of it, Wu ngting was only twenty-two years old. Her parents were probably not even fifty yet, not really that old.

"Dad, Mom."

Wu ngting called out quite naturally and then led Chen Feng towards them.

"Hello, Uncle and Auntie."

Chen Feng, whose hands were each holding a gift box and who felt a bit awkward, still managed to smile naturally and greeted them amicably.

"Hello, hello."

"You too, co on in."

Mr. and Mrs. Wu had been sizing up Chen Feng from the mont he arrived and only after he had greeted them did they smile and invite him indoors.

The villa’s interior decoration was quite nice, with marble flooring and classical Chinese furniture, giving it an air of refined elegance.

After sitting down on the solid wood bench, Mrs. Wu enthusiastically poured him a cup of tea and placed it on the tea table in front of him.

Mr. Wu offered him a cigarette, but Chen Feng quickly waved his hand to decline.

Then Mr. Wu naturally started the conversation, "I heard from Little Ting that you are from Lin Nan. I stayed there for a while on a business trip when I was young. What I miss the most is the wontons from that area—they were really delicious. The wontons here in our city are not as tasty or authentic."

Chen Feng also said with a smile, "Our wontons do have so fa. Little Ting and I went to eat them last ti, but I felt that they didn’t have that authentic taste anymore."

"Yeah, lots of foods these days just don’t seem to taste as good as they used to."

...

After chatting casually for a while, prompted by Wu ngting’s frequent glances, Chen Feng finally steeled himself to broach the main subject, "I’ve heard from ngting that as soon as she returned, you started arranging blind dates for her. She’s quite averse to such arrangents. Normally, I wouldn’t have said anything, but now that ngting has acknowledged as her ’elder brother,’ and she has asked for my help, I have no choice but to speak to Uncle and Auntie on her behalf. My point is, if ngting does not want to go on blind dates for now, maybe you could respect her wishes a bit more. After all, we’re not living in ancient tis anymore, where arranged marriages were common. Instead, we advocate for free love."

Wu ngting also went along with his words, saying, "Yes, Dad, Mom, I’m already an adult. I want to find my future other half on my own. If I can’t find soone or need your help, I’ll actively request you to arrange blind dates, but right now, I really don’t need it."

Mr. and Mrs. Wu exchanged glances before Mr. Wu said, "It’s not that we don’t respect her opinion, but right now she doesn’t have a boyfriend, and she’ll be twenty-three after the New Year. It’s completely normal for us, as parents, to arrange blind dates for her. Moreover, we’re not carelessly arranging these dates. We’ve been selecting people who are well-known and reputable, and whose conditions are quite good.

For example, the last date was with a guy two years older than Little Ting, a graduate of Political and Legal University who had just finished his master’s degree and passed his bar exams and was working as an assistant at a well-known law firm. His family’s conditions are also quite good—his father is a shareholder in several companies and his mother is a high-level executive in a state-owned enterprise. They have a strong family background.

Moreover, his mother is colleagues with my sister, that is, Little Ting’s aunt; they have a very good relationship, so we know quite a bit about his family. This guy is also quite handso, has no bad vices, and has been very interested in Little Ting since their blind date. He’s kept in touch with us and has expressed his admiration for Little Ting, hoping to take things further. Even during the days when Little Ting wasn’t here, he proactively visited our ho twice."

"How could he do that?" Wu ngting said with dissatisfaction, "You didn’t even tell about this."

Mrs. Wu said, "A visitor is a guest, and since his mother is friends with your aunt, we can’t just turn him away, can we?"

Wu ngting frowned and said, "I made it very clear to him before. I’ve blocked him on WeChat and phone, yet he still cos to the door. He’s too shaless."

Mr. Wu glanced at Chen Feng with a hint of pride, then said with a smile, "What can we do when our daughter is so beautiful? A gentleman is naturally drawn to a lovely and virtuous lady. It’s normal for Little Jiang to be captivated by you."

Mrs. Wu also looked at Chen Feng with a touch of pride and said with a smile, "That Little Jiang is really well liked by his mother. He’s enthusiastic, articulate, and what’s rare is that he’s not arrogant, doesn’t boast, and is very humble—quite steady. Most importantly, he’s now an assistant lawyer, with a promising future."

"That’s enough," Wu ngting said, sowhat angrily, "I’ve already said I’m not interested in him, and yet you keep on. And to be honest, your judgnt of people isn’t very good. On the surface, he may seem modest and polite, but deep down, he’s incredibly arrogant, always carrying around an air of superiority, as if he cos from so high lineage. Even though he doesn’t say it outright, you can see it in his behavior and his gaze."
