"In principle, I agree with your proposal," Chen Feng said. "The reason I’m investing in your company is mainly because I value your character, as well as our friendship. As for your business acun, although I haven’t verified it yet, I suppose it must be decent. Therefore, I believe that investing my money with you would look promising in the long run. However, I will definitely need to take everything into consideration and consult with professionals before I can make a final decision."
Chen Feng didn’t agree right away. Although their relationship was special, friendship was friendship and business was business—they both distinguished the two quite clearly. Surely, Guo ngyao would understand.
Indeed, Guo ngyao wasn’t angry but nodded in agreent, "Of course. Once I’ve relocated the company here, we’ll have a good talk, and you can then have professionals evaluate my company."
"That’s settled then."
They exchanged a smile.
Just then, a waiter brought the dishes, and they began to eat heartily.
They hadn’t had breakfast, and by now were starving, both of them eating quickly.
As a woman, Guo ngyao was slightly conscious of her image, whereas Chen Feng ate like a whirlwind, refilling his rice twice. Of the several dishes ordered, at least two-thirds ended up in his stomach.
Not to ntion, the food here seed as good as ever, tasting much like it did during his high school days—extrely delicious.
After the al, Chen Feng opened a can of Jianlibao and gulped down a few mouthfuls, followed by a satisfying belch—that felt too perfect.
"You said you wanted to lose weight," Guo ngyao said with a look of disdain. "How will you lose anything eating so much and drinking soda?"
Chen Feng laughed and replied, "Last night and this morning, I had several matches which burned a lot of energy. Definitely needed to replenish my strength."
Hearing this, Guo ngyao gave him an angry glare, then guiltily looked over her shoulder, but didn’t see her father.
"Don’t worry. Your dad went upstairs."
Chen Feng leaned back in his seat and picked his teeth with a toothpick, urging her, "Done eating? If you’re done, let’s go." "Really, I’m not even full yet. Couldn’t you have left so food for ?" Guo ngyao complained.
"I’m doing this for your own good. You have to control your diet, or else you’ll beco a chubby girl."
"Get lost, where have I put on weight?" Guo ngyao glared back resentfully.
Chen Feng said, smiling, "You’re not fat now, just a little bit fleshy, but if you gain a few more pounds, your figure will be ruined. Haven’t you noticed you’re starting to get a bit of a belly?"
Guo ngyao was imdiately furious, raising her chopsticks as if to throw them at him, but Chen Feng quickly raised his hands to shield himself.
"Alright, alright, my bad."
"You really can’t expect anything nice to co out of a dog’s mouth. Do I look like I have a belly? That’s clearly the line of abs."
Chen Feng almost burst out laughing when he heard ’line of abs’.
She had a cesarean, and there was indeed a line on her abdon, not very noticeable; he had personally felt it, and she jokingly called it the abs line.
But truthfully, when lying flat her abdon was quite slim, but when sitting, there was a slight protrusion.
That’s pretty normal, after all, she was going to be thirty after the new year, and most won at that age, especially after marriage and childbirth, have a bit of a belly. Hers being less noticeable was sowhat comndable.
Actually, Chen Feng was quite fond of her little belly—it was comfortable to touch.
"Right, the abs line. But with such a nice figure, you should still try to maintain it. Can’t eat too much."
Chen Feng suppressed his laughter, saying in a serious tone.
"Nag much? Do I need you to tell that? I practice yoga every day."
She said that, but she put her chopsticks down anyway, leaving the last few bites of rice in her bowl uneaten.
"Let’s go."
Guo ngyao stood up, signaling to Chen Feng.
They quickly left Ruyi Building and got into her BMW X6.
"How about we go watch a movie?" Guo ngyao suggested as she started the car.
Chen Feng imdiately refused, "I have things to do this afternoon. Next ti."
"You’re such a downer. What could you possibly have to do this afternoon?" Guo ngyao turned to glare at him.
Chen Feng looked at her openly and said, "I have to et Yu Jiao’s parents with her."
"What? You... You’re eting her parents? Didn’t you say last ti that you didn’t want to get married?"
Guo ngyao had a face full of shock, along with so dissatisfaction.
The two were old classmates and running mates after all, so Chen Feng still went out of his way to explain a little, "I’m her boyfriend now, helping her deal with the pressure from her family to get married."
Guo ngyao, upon hearing this, let out a quiet sigh of relief and didn’t ask for the details. She nodded and said, "That’s how it is. Then you should help her. No matter what, she’s still your mistress."
"Not a mistress, a temporary girlfriend."
"Tch! Temporary girlfriend."
Chen Feng couldn’t be bothered to argue with her over the label, and directly said, "Drive back to the hotel."
Guo ngyao suddenly said, "I won’t go to the hotel for now. I’ll drop you off at the roundabout. You can take a taxi back from there."
Chen Feng glanced at her, indifferently saying, "Okay."
Guo ngyao didn’t expect Chen Feng to agree so readily and suddenly felt annoyed, but she couldn’t say much more and unconsciously stepped harder on the gas.
Chen Feng was too lazy to worry about her and just kept looking at his phone.
Lin Yujiao sent him a ssage on WeChat asking when he would be back. Chen Feng replied: half an hour.
Wu ngting sent him several photos of senior health care products, asking Chen Feng to help her choose. Chen Feng texted back: whatever.
Wu ngting imdiately sent an unsatisfied emoji, which Chen Feng ignored.
Sun Xiaorui also sent him a few photos, which Chen Feng looked at but didn’t reply to.
He opened his Monts and scrolled through, coming across a beautified selfie from Sun Xiaorui and casually liked it.
At this mont, the car abruptly ca to a stop, and Guo ngyao said in a cold tone, "We’re here. Get out."
Chen Feng looked up at her, smiled faintly, and said, "Well then, I’m getting out."
Guo ngyao didn’t respond, and when Chen Feng leaned over to give her a kiss, she blocked him with her hand, putting up a clear "keep your distance" attitude.
"Enough, hurry up and get out," Guo ngyao said with a hint of impatience.
This sudden change left Chen Feng speechless. He certainly wasn’t going to indulge her or beg her, since they were just running mates, not lovers.
So, he unbuckled his seatbelt, opened the car door, and without another word, got out.
Seeing Chen Feng leave so decisively, Guo ngyao beca even more angry, so much that she slapped the steering wheel with her hand repeatedly until her hand ached before driving off huffing.
She didn’t understand why she was so suddenly angry; she certainly wouldn’t admit it was because she was jealous of Lin Yujiao.
While Chen Feng suspected that she might be upset because of Lin Yujiao, he wasn’t about to go out of his way to appease her.
His definition of their relationship was clear; they were old classmates and running mates, not lovers or even friends with benefits.
He had intentionally been open about his plans for the afternoon just to give her a heads-up, so she wouldn’t start treating him like a lover or a boyfriend.
Hanging out for fun was fine, but discussing feelings was off the table; they could only talk about companionship at most.
Chen Feng felt that after today, it was probably ti to let the relationship cool down a bit to avoid any overstepping of boundaries.
He was lucky. He had just gotten out of Guo ngyao’s car, and after only a short wait at the roadside, an empty taxi ca by. He flagged it down and in less than ten minutes, he was at the Yujing Hotel.
Once in his car, he quickly drove to a nearby bank. There wasn’t a queue, so he easily withdrew two hundred thousand in cash, which was bundled in twenty packs, wrapped in newspaper, and placed in a black plastic bag.
Exiting the bank, he casually put the black plastic bag in the trunk and drove back to Qingpu Town.
Lin Yujiao had been waiting at ho for a while. One call from Chen Feng, and she hurried out of her rental, quickly getting into his car.
"What gifts do your parents like? I’ll buy sothing on the way to your town."
Chen Feng asked as he started the car.
Lin Yujiao replied honestly, "They like money the most. Any other gift is fine."
Chen Feng laughed and said, "Okay then. I’ve already brought the money. Once we’re at that town, I’ll just pick up so customary gifts."
"Ah, you’ve brought the money? Two hundred thousand?"
Even though Lin Yujiao was sowhat prepared, she was still shocked.
