Qigong was once exaggerated to an incredible extent, with a wide variety of cultivation techniques, divided into Taoist, Buddhist, and so modern so-called masters who invented various Qigong techniques themselves, promoting them like a pyramid sche to make money, ruining the entire reputation of Qigong.
As a result, many young people today, upon hearing about Qigong, instantly think it’s fake or a scam, showing signs of stigmatization.
But to say Qigong is completely fake would definitely be wrong. After all, not everyone is a fool, and it’s impossible that the older generation who believed in Qigong were all fools.
When they were young, Qigong was a craze that lasted an era. To say that everyone in that era was deceived and none of the older generation were smart, how is that possible?
Of course, it can be confird that not many truly know Qigong. There are plenty of frauds pretending to be Qigong masters, mixed with real and fake, leading to many people not believing in Qigong now.
Chen Feng personally believes that Qigong exists, just not to the extent of being miraculous. Because when he was in his teens, he experienced it himself. In high school, an old teacher at his school had practiced Qigong for decades and had a very good massage technique.
When he sprained his ankle playing basketball and went to the school clinic, he happened to et this old teacher. Seeing him grimacing in pain, the teacher gave him a Qigong massage. Chen Feng personally felt it—numb and warm, very comfortable. After just a few minutes of massage, the pain reduced significantly.
After that, he went ho and applied safflower oil, and in three or four days, he was healed.
When he talked about this with his classmates, many of them knew this old teacher and confird that he really knew Qigong. The Qigong massage was his specialty. Many people paid him for it.
So, from this incident, Chen Feng is very sure that Qigong is not fake; it truly exists, just not as miraculous as so claim.
However, after personally experiencing sothing miraculous now, Chen Feng began to doubt his previous judgnt. Qigong might possibly be miraculous after all.
It’s like his newly developed sharp sixth sense, an intuitive judgnt of danger. This is hard to explain with scientific principles.
Plus, he was once declared by several doctors to have little ti left, and yet nearly half a year has passed, and he is living well, even healthier and more vigorous than before the terminal diagnosis.
This too is inexplicable with dical principles.
Now, with nothing to do, he thought of the supernatural aspects of Qigong, pondering if it might help with his sixth sense or his illness.
He first spent a few days searching online for relevant Qigong cultivation techniques, gradually filtering through them, and ultimately found that sitting ditation, with simple breathing exercises, seed most reliable.
So, Chen Feng began practicing this Qigong technique called Sitting ditation, where he would sit cross-legged, slowly adjust his breathing, and focus his mind on the dantian.
This is the first stage.
Once accustod to this, the second stage is to inhale through the nose, expanding the lungs and inflating the abdon; exhale through the mouth, contracting the abdon.
Thus, starting by sitting for ten or so minutes, extending it to one or two hours.
This requires long-term practice.
The technique is simple, and there’s unlikely to be any problem with practicing it.
Chen Feng quickly adapted after two days of practice.
However, he hasn’t noticed any pleasant changes from this practice as of yet.
This is understandable, as he has just begun, and it is unrealistic to expect imdiate results. Chen Feng was ntally prepared for this.
Moreover, he was not 100% certain that he could master Qigong, let alone confirm that it would have a curative effect on his terminal illness.
He could only be sure that such simple sitting practice would be beneficial to his body without any harm.
Plus, being cooped up at ho and bored, this just served as a way to pass the ti.
On this day, after finishing his ditation session in the room he used for practice, he noticed that more than half an hour had passed, a few minutes longer than his previous session. This was quite good.
He slowly stretched his numb legs and massaged them a bit until they gradually returned to normal.
He is still practicing with a single cross-legged position, but even so, his feet beco numb every ti he sits. Double cross-legged would be even more difficult, as he tried it once and imdiately felt excruciating pain. He’s not capable of that now and will have to take it slowly in the future.
He picked up his phone from the nearby carpet and saw it was on silent mode.
He saw several unread WeChat ssages.
He opened them and found they were from Wu ngting, Hong Xiaodan, and his mother.
Chen Feng imdiately listened to his mom’s voice ssage: [In two days, your first aunt’s eldest granddaughter is getting married, and she’s inviting you to the wedding. Do you want to co ho for it?]
Chen Feng felt a bit speechless upon hearing this. His first aunt’s family lived quite far from his, and they hadn’t interacted much before. Even when they did interact, it was mainly between the sisters. The next generation, being cousins and with more than a ten-year age gap, basically had no social interactions.
His first aunt’s granddaughter is actually the eldest daughter of his eldest cousin from his first aunt’s family. The last ti they t was several years ago, and he hadn’t seen his eldest cousin for several years as well.
Originally, during the last Chinese New Year, his first aunt’s whole family, including her two daughters and sons-in-law, ca to his house. But at that ti, Chen Feng was visiting his aunt in Tianzhou and didn’t et them.
The reason why his first aunt’s family suddenly beca so close is because his family started to prosper last year. They first opened a car beauty shop and monopolized a town’s car wash business. Now, both brothers have a car each, and are planning to open a second car wash shop. Their family is evidently about to thrive.
At this point, his cousins naturally couldn’t avoid the common custom of reaching out to reconnect, which is human nature, nothing to bla for.
Moreover, the manager of the second shop is still the son of his first aunt’s eldest son-in-law, so his eldest cousin’s husband had to co over to pave the way for his nephew. With his eldest cousin and her husband coming over, it wouldn’t be right for the second cousin and her husband not to co. This is even more natural.
It’s just like the saying goes, "When you’re wealthy, even distant relatives will visit," which is unavoidable.
But this doesn’t an Chen Feng has to actively respond to these relatives, such as the wedding of his eldest cousin’s daughter.
After thinking about it, Chen Feng replied: [I won’t be going. If Eldest Brother goes, can he take my share of the gift money for ?]
Soon, his mom replied in a voice ssage: [They already sent over the wedding invitation, and your first aunt specifically says the whole family should attend. It’s hard not to go. And of course, we can’t not give the gift money.]
This is the kind of society we live in. Even though neither he nor his mom particularly wants to attend the wedding, because of his first aunt, it’s hard not to go.
