Wu ngting said she needed to take a lot of things, so at her request, Chen Feng drove directly into her residential area and parked the car in front of her house.
If possible, Chen Feng really didn’t want to co to her house, because the last ti they t in Xiu Zhou, his exchange with her father was not very pleasant.
Her father had an expression as if he was dealing with a dying man, which made him very dissatisfied and uncomfortable.
Now that they were already at her doorstep, there was no reason not to go in, and her parents were clearly waiting for them. Just as the car stopped at the door, her parents ca out.
By the ti Chen Feng and Wu ngting got out of the car, her parents were already waiting by the car.
"You’re finally here, co on in."
Mrs. Wu warmly greeted them, and Mr. Wu also wore a big smile on his face.
"Hello, Uncle and Auntie!"
Out of respect for Wu ngting, Chen Feng still greeted them.
"Good, good, co in and sit." Mrs. Wu examined Chen Feng with a warm smile, appearing very close. Previously, she’d heard from her daughter that Chen Feng’s health was improving, and she held so skepticism, but now another month had passed, and purely from appearances, Chen Feng didn’t show any signs of having a terminal illness.
Wu ngting seed a bit indifferent; she didn’t greet her parents and asked directly, "What have you prepared for ? There are so things we don’t really fancy eating."
Mr. Wu spoke up, "Mostly dried seafood, including your favorite dried eel, dried shrimp, dried squid, fish slices, dried clam at, and also so seaweed and dried shrimp. Your mom and I went to the seafood wholesale market early this morning to buy these; they’re all top-quality."
Wu ngting was a little touched but still said, "We have these things back in Xiu Zhou too; you really didn’t have to go out of your way to buy them for us."
Mr. Wu explained, "The seafood here is definitely better than the ones in Xiu Zhou, and it’s the taste you’ve been accustod to since childhood."
Mrs. Wu added, "It’s rare for you to co ho even once a year now, so it’s only right for us to prepare so things for you to take back."
As they talked, they stepped into the Wu Family house.
Mrs. Wu enthusiastically poured tea and water for Chen Feng and offered him the fruits laid out on the coffee table. After thanking them, Chen Feng fell silent.
The main conversation was between Wu ngting and her parents.
After Wu ngting talked with her parents for a few minutes, Mr. Wu suddenly said to Chen Feng, "Chen Feng, I heard from Little Ting that she went with you to a banquet, and your mom introduced her to your relatives, right?"
Chen Feng nodded calmly, "Yes."
Mr. Wu imdiately bead, "Then it seems your mom is very pleased with our Little Ting. Did your mom ntion formalizing things between you two?"
Before Chen Feng could answer, Wu ngting quickly interrupted, "Dad, this is sothing we have in mind. You don’t need to worry about it."
"You child," Mrs. Wu reprimanded, "since Ah Feng’s mom sees you as her future daughter-in-law, what else do you have to consider? I think you two should finalize things quickly. Ideally, within a month or two, we go over to Ah Feng’s parents and discuss it together, and pick an auspicious date."
"Mom, we’ll discuss this ourselves. You don’t need to worry," Wu ngting said with so displeasure.
Although she wanted to settle things with Chen Feng soon, she knew he wouldn’t agree, and if her parents pushed too hard, it might backfire and provoke Chen Feng’s discontent.
Moreover, she had already agreed with Chen Feng on a six-month period, and she couldn’t go back on her word.
After exchanging glances, Mr. and Mrs. Wu saw that Chen Feng remained silent and uncommitted, so they had to temporarily let it go.
"We only have one daughter, and we want to help you arrange things for your own good," Mrs. Wu sighed.
Mr. Wu also sighed, "We are also doing this for your own good. If the matter is settled sooner, I believe your relationship will beco more stable. Don’t you think so?"
Wu ngting replied irritably, "Aren’t you worried that I might end up with the wrong person? You’re just so eager to marry off?"
Mrs. Wu reprimanded again, "You child, what nonsense are you talking about? Ah Feng, soone like him, is obviously very dependable. How could you end up with the wrong person? Besides, isn’t he the one you care about? We arranged so many blind dates for you, each with good prospects, and you weren’t interested in any of them. Now that you’ve finally found soone you like, why are you dragging your feet?"
"Alright, alright. Leave our matter to us," Wu ngting was getting a bit irritated. She couldn’t possibly tell her parents that Chen Feng currently was involved with several won, could she? Also, couldn’t they see Chen Feng was like a closed book, avoiding the topic? Clearly, he wasn’t willing to settle the marriage with their daughter, was he?
The more they pushed, the less likely Chen Feng would agree, and in the end, it would only make them look bad.
"Chen Feng, what do you say?" Mr. Wu was persistent, directly asking Chen Feng.
Chen Feng had no choice but to speak up now, calmly saying, "We’ve already talked about this last ti. For now, neither ngting nor I want to settle things so quickly. We had set a six-month agreent before, so let’s wait another three or four months, then discuss it."
Mr. and Mrs. Wu were both unsatisfied with Chen Feng’s answer, frowning. But they couldn’t question Chen Feng about it. After all, their own daughter wasn’t proactive in this matter either.
Besides, they were also afraid of offending Chen Feng, the golden son-in-law in their eyes.
At this mont, a car was heard outside, and soon after, Wu ngting’s aunt and an eighteen or nineteen-year-old girl walked in.
The Wu Family’s door was open.
"Auntie, Yu, why are you here?" Wu ngting looked at them with so surprise.
Mrs. Wu spoke up, "I invited them. With so much dried seafood bought, I thought of giving so to your aunt."
"Yes, I said there’s no need, but your mom insisted I co over to take so."
The aunt said as she looked over at Chen Feng, while her daughter Hong Siyu was curiously examining Chen Feng.
"This is your boyfriend, Chen Feng, right?"
"Yes," Wu ngting responded and introduced Chen Feng, "Chen Feng, this is my aunt, whom you’ve t before. And this is her daughter, my cousin Hong Siyu, who was studying in Shanghai and is currently taking a break from school."
"Hello," Chen Feng stood up and greeted them.
"Hello, hello, sit down, no need to be formal," the aunt replied warmly, smiling.
Taking note of her words, Chen Feng sat back down.
The aunt and her daughter also sat down on a nearby sofa.
"Sis, are you going back to Xiu Zhou today?" Hong Siyu asked.
"Yes. The company is quite busy, and I can’t be away for too long," Wu ngting replied truthfully. Although her role as a finance director was mainly supervisory, and the company could operate without her for a while, she still felt uneasy and wanted to return to her post soon.
