"Alright then. I’ll leave first, take good care of Ah Zhen."

After saying this, Chen Feng didn’t comfort Pei Lei, who was still squatting on the ground crying with her hands over her face, and turned to leave directly.

After returning to their ho at Red Villa Bay, Chen Feng didn’t ntion anything about Pei Lei to the two won, Sun and Wu. This matter was her privacy and couldn’t be talked about casually.

For the next few days, Chen Feng’s life returned to normal.

Until this noon, when Wu ngting returned for lunch, she suddenly asked if the company’s financial manager was going to be replaced. It was then that Chen Feng rembered Liu Ying had taken sick leave for a long ti.

Ever since that ti when Liu Ying was rcilessly warned and reprimanded by him, she had taken sick leave and hadn’t returned to work at Fengmang Film and Television Company. Her position as a financial manager had remained vacant without a replacent.

"Have you called her?"

Chen Feng looked at Wu ngting and asked.

Wu ngting said, "I called her yesterday, asked when she’s coming back to work. She said she’s still not feeling well, might need a few more days. When I asked how many days specifically, she said she didn’t know, and it would depend. Isn’t this on purpose? Brother, what do you think we should do?"

Chen Feng asked aningfully, "Are you suggesting we just remove her from the position?"

Wu ngting cautiously replied, "Mainly because she’s deliberately dragging this out, not coming to work, and it’s delaying our company’s operations. Moreover, to be honest, her financial skills aren’t particularly impressive."

"What does Lu Sijia think?" Chen Feng asked.

Wu ngting replied, "She has no opinion, and said it’s up to you to decide."

Chen Feng looked at Sun Xiaorui and asked, "Little Rui, what do you think?"

Sun Xiaorui shook her head and said, "I have no opinion either, I’ll go with whatever you decide."

After thinking it over, Chen Feng said to Wu ngting, "Then give her a call today and tell her to co to work tomorrow. If she doesn’t, the company will remove her from her position."

With a businesslike deanor, Wu ngting nodded imdiately and said, "Okay, I’ll call her right after lunch."

After finishing their al, Wu ngting indeed called Liu Ying first thing, relaying Chen Feng’s ssage with a professional tone.

On the other end, Liu Ying remained silent for a while after hearing those words and was about to say sothing when Wu ngting hung up the phone.

In fact, she had been waiting for so reaction from Chen Feng. She hoped he would reach out to her, but after so much ti had passed, he showed no care by contacting her.

This left her with a feeling that nothing could be more heart-wrenching than this, yet she didn’t want to give up just like that. At least her position as financial manager was still there, which she took as a sign that Chen Feng still had a place for her in his heart. She continually consoled herself this way.

But today, she finally got Wu ngting’s translated ultimatum.

’Are you really this cold and unfeeling?’

Putting down her phone, Liu Ying felt waves of pain piercing through her heart.

She wasn’t this sorrowful and helpless even during her divorce from her ex-husband, but now she felt that way.

During those days, she initially stayed in the villa Chen Feng arranged for her, not stepping out at all. It wasn’t until the villa ran out of food that she packed so clothes and personal items to stay at ho for two days, but she feared her parents would notice sothing was amiss. Especially since her parents kept asking her to invite Chen Feng over for dinner, she made excuses several tis. Finally, she had no choice but to leave ho and stay in a hotel.

In those days, she changed hotels several tis, staying only a couple of days at each. During the day, she’d either wander around the city aimlessly or spend all day in the hotel playing on her phone and watching TV.

However, she couldn’t forget Chen Feng even for a mont. He was always on her mind, and she missed him dearly. More than once, she almost couldn’t resist sending him a ssage or calling him but ultimately restrained herself.

She wasn’t sure if this was love, but undoubtedly, Chen Feng had left a deep mark in her heart. She wanted to forget him, but found it incredibly difficult.

Now, facing Wu ngting’s conveyed ultimatum from Chen Feng, she desired to firmly refuse to return to work or even to bid farewell to Chen Feng with finality, but she lacked the courage and resolve.

Ultimately, after an afternoon of inner struggle, she compromised with herself. She checked out of the hotel where she had been staying and drove back to the villa at Red Villa Bay, the luxurious house Chen Feng provided for her.

Undoubtedly, this villa seed like a cage, imprisoning her body and restraining her heart. Even though she was only staying temporarily, it was hard for her to truly let go.

That night, she thoroughly cleaned the villa from top to bottom, sweating profusely, then took a shower and comfortably lay on the familiar bed, quickly falling asleep.

The next morning, she pulled herself together, and as if nothing had happened, arrived punctually at Fengmang Film and Television Company to resu work.

Seeing her return to her position, Wu ngting felt sowhat disappointed. She thought that after what was said on the phone yesterday, Liu Ying wouldn’t co back, but the results were contrary.

She couldn’t help but let out a cold laugh to herself: "Hah, won!"

anwhile, Pei Lei had a good talk with Qin Zhen that day after he sobered up from drinking, and as Chen Feng had suggested, she apologized to Qin Zhen and then cried her heart out.

Qin Zhen accepted her apology, but in the end, he still stated that they should separate for so ti to calm down before reevaluating their relationship.

Though Pei Lei was reluctant, eventually she tearfully agreed.

Several days passed without any contact from Qin Zhen, leaving Pei Lei to cry every day, causing her depression to relapse, making it impossible for her to work.

Therefore, on this day, Li Liqin, as Pei Lei’s ntor and superior, called Chen Feng to inform him about Pei Lei’s situation, and also to confront Qin Zhen, demanding that he properly comfort Pei Lei or she’d personally go to the police station to make a scene.

Chen Feng hadn’t been in touch with Qin Zhen these past few days and was genuinely surprised to learn they had temporarily separated. It was unexpected given that Chen Feng thought Qin Zhen would accept her once she cried to him.

After finishing the call with Li Liqin, Chen Feng imdiately called Qin Zhen to relay the situation.

Upon hearing Chen Feng’s words, Qin Zhen rely said, "I’ll go find her now," and then hung up the call. Chen Feng was taken aback for a mont before shaking his head with a wry smile.

From Qin Zhen’s reaction, it was evident that he couldn’t let go of Pei Lei either.

So, he ultimately chose to accept Pei Lei.

Just as Chen Feng expected, the next day, Qin Zhen invited him to his ho for dinner, saying that Pei Lei herself would cook to thank him.

Over the phone, Qin Zhen clearly expressed to Chen Feng his intention to accept everything about Pei Lei, including her imperfections and her depression.
