"I’ll let you off today!" he whispered in her ear breathlessly, then straightened up. "Let’s blow out the candles and cut the cake!"
It wasn’t that he didn’t want her, rather he didn’t want their first ti together to be filled with regret.
"Okay."
Xu Xia’s voice was as soft as a mosquito, her face felt like it had been roasted by charcoal for a long ti, red and heated.
Leng Zirui cast a sideways glance at her, reached out to straighten her bathrobe that had been pulled askew by him, then took her hand and walked towards the sofa, sitting down with her together.
"Should we make a wish?"
"Of course!"
Looking at the flickering fla before her, Xu Xia raised both hands to her chest, closed her eyes, and made a wish.
"What did you wish for?" Leng Zirui asked, turning his face to look at her.
"I can’t say it, otherwise it won’t co true!" Xu Xia grabbed his arm, "Co, blow out the candles with . I’ll count, one, two, three..."
At the count of three, the two blew out the candles together.
The candles extinguished instantly, and then, the living room plunged into total darkness.
"I’ll turn on the lights!" Xu Xia straightened up to leave.
"Wait, I haven’t given you your gift yet!" Leng Zirui said beside her.
"Bring it here." She imdiately reached out unceremoniously toward him.
"Dun-dun-dun-dun..." Leng Zirui provided his own sound effects, placing his hand on her palm, "The one and only, Young Master Leng’s gift is now in your hand!"
"How uncreative." She whispered in disdain, but her face was lit up with joy, "But, given your sincerity, I’ll reluctantly accept it!"
Since he was at the hospital, she naturally assud he didn’t have ti to prepare a gift.
However, Xu Xia didn’t mind, the fact that he rembered her birthday and rushed from the hospital to celebrate with her was more than enough, she was never a greedy woman.
"I haven’t finished yet." Leng Zirui opened his hand, placing a small box in her palm, and in the dark, kissed her hair. "Wishing Xu Xia’s concert a great success and hoping your heart grows ever wider..."
"Oh, shut up!" Xu Xia pushed him away, stood up barefoot, and ran over to turn on the light.
In her palm, there rested an old lighter box.
"Don’t get your hopes up, it’s not a diamond or gemstone!" Leng Zirui smiled to remind her.
Xu Xia ignored him, carefully opened the small tal box.
Inside the box, there was a small piece of deerskin, upon which lay quietly a tapered object— a bullet.
On one side of the bullet, faint traces of writing could be seen.
Xu Xia moved her finger, carefully took out the bullet, gently rotated it in the light, and a small line of script appeared before her eyes.

Reading this line of script, Xu Xia imdiately understood that this bullet was the one he took for her.
"This box was given to by a veteran when he retired after bringing into the squad back in the day, he said it was his talisman!" Leng Zirui walked up to her. "Since then, I’ve always carried it with , this dent happened last ti I went to Yunnan and got shot, if it wasn’t for this box, the bullet might have gone straight into my heart. Now, I’m giving it to you, from now on... I and it will protect you together!"
Last ti, he gave her a bullet shell representing a perfect score, as a symbol of his acknowledgent.
