The light pierced through the rain and fog, casting its glow on the person before it, her body covered in rain-soaked mud, yet glimring in the light as if sparkling.
"Zimo!"
She called his na, her voice brimming with joy.
It was her!
Leng Zimo’s heart surged with elation. Dropping the mud he held in his hands, he strode toward her.
"Zi..."
Her foot slipped, and Luo Xiaoqian fell with a splash into the muddy water, but she quickly got back to her feet and continued rushing towards him. Reaching him, she didn’t think twice before throwing her arms around him, tightly embracing his waist.
Wrapping his arms around the damp and cold person in his embrace, Leng Zimo held her tightly.
Jiao Yang lifted his face from beneath the umbrella, watching the man and woman embracing on the pile of rocks and stones. He let out a sigh, smiling at himself in self-mockery; with one hand holding the umbrella, he reached into his pocket to take out a pack of cigarettes, only to find that the contents had been soaked by the rain and were impossible to light.
"Ahem!" The soldier piloting the helicopter ca over quickly, clearing his throat, "Miss Luo, is there anyone else in the van?"
He was indeed moved by the emotion between the man and woman, but at that mont, rescuing others was more important.
Hearing his voice, Luo Xiaoqian hurriedly raised her face from Leng Zimo’s embrace, "Don’t worry, we abandoned the car and left it behind when we got stuck, there’s no one inside."
The pilot was about to say sothing when his radio crackled to life.
"Black Hawk, Black Hawk, this is Cheetah calling Black Hawk!"
"Black Hawk here, go ahead Cheetah!"
"Have you completed the mission? I need the helicopter for assistance here."
"You better hurry to the disaster relief. There’s a car stopped not far from here, we can drive back to the city. The mountain roads over there are still safe!" Luo Xiaoqian rushed to say.
"Tell Zirui for , everything is fine here," Leng Zimo extended his hand to him, "Thank you!"
"It’s what we should do!" The pilot shook hands with him, a youthful smile on his face, "Also, Mr. Leng Zimo, I am a fan of your music, and I’m very happy to have been able to help you!"
Withdrawing his hand, he snapped a salute to Leng Zimo and turned to run back to the helicopter.
Leng Zimo then took off his military raincoat and draped it over Luo Xiaoqian’s body.
"But you..."
Luo Xiaoqian looked at his thinly clad shirt.
"No nonsense!"
Leng Zimo assertively pulled the raincoat around her, fastening the buttons.
An umbrella silently appeared above his head.
Leng Zimo turned to look at Jiao Yang, who had moved beside them.
Luo Xiaoqian rushed to explain, "You see, we..."
"Let’s go, we’ll talk later once we’re back!" Leng Zimo lifted the raincoat hood over her head, his gaze lightly sweeping past Jiao Yang, "President Jiao, with your poor health, you should keep the umbrella for yourself!"
He, having poor health?!
Jiao Yang watched the two descending the slope, shrugged his shoulders, and followed them with the umbrella.
The three quickly made their way back to where the off-road vehicle was parked. Leng Zimo helped Luo Xiaoqian into the back seat, while Jiao Yang settled in the driver’s seat.
"Falling Rocks?"
As Jiao Yang started the car, Leng Zimo’s gaze swept over the pile of rocks beside the vehicle.
Luo Xiaoqian pushed back the rain hood, "Yeah, it was really dangerous at the ti."
Leng Zimo’s gaze brushed over the water stains on the passenger seat in the front, lifted his face, and looked at Jiao Yang through the rearview mirror, his eyes growing intense.
He could imagine the scenario that had unfolded.
