"Zimo?"
She called out to him puzzledly, but Leng Zimo made no response.
A playful thought arose in her heart, and Luo Xiaoqian took off the slippers from her feet, tiptoed over to his side, and gently tapped his shoulder with her hand.
Leng Zimo was startled and turned around abruptly.
"Ha..." Luo Xiaoqian laughed and pounced on him, looping her arms around his neck, "What are you looking at so intently?"
Without waiting for his reply, her gaze fixed on his face with concern.
"What’s wrong? Did sothing happen at the company?"
His eyes were bloodshot, and a noticeable blue stubble covered his cheeks, making him look utterly dejected—a sight of Leng Zimo she had never seen before.
Everything had been fine yesterday, and now suddenly like this, she naturally assud that there could be trouble at the company.
Seeing the worried face of Luo Xiaoqian before him, Leng Zimo’s heart felt incredibly heavy.
"Zimo?"
As he remained silent, Luo Xiaoqian’s concern grew, and she raised a palm toward his face.
Before she could touch him, Leng Zimo hurriedly lifted his hand and grasped her wrist, "Go wash your face first, we’ll go to the graveyard in a bit."
"What happened?" Luo Xiaoqian stood her ground, unmoving.
"It’s just a minor issue at the company, it’s been settled. I just didn’t sleep well last night," Leng Zimo released her wrist. Noticing the shoulder revealed inside her collar, he quickly averted his gaze, "Be good."
"Alright, are you hungry? Shall I make you so fried eggs?" asked Luo Xiaoqian with a smile.
"Okay," Leng Zimo nodded lightly, "Go ahead, I’ll get so fresh air here."
Luo Xiaoqian, without any suspicion, turned and walked back to the living room.
Noticing her bare feet, he instinctively hurried over to her, reached out his arms to hold her, but then retracted them in panic.
Although he wasn’t yet certain of any relationship between them, the re possibility made him feel nearly insane.
His love for her had beco completely instinctual.
"What’s the matter?"
Hearing his footsteps, Luo Xiaoqian turned around, puzzled.
"It’s nothing." Leng Zimo strode upstairs, "I’m going to take a shower."
As he ascended, he rushed straight into the bathroom, turned on the cold water, and stood under the showerhead.
In sumr, he always preferred cold showers, but this ti, standing under the cold water, he felt a bone-chilling sensation all over.
Crouching down, he clutched his hair tightly.
"Leng Zimo, stay calm, you must stay calm right now. Even if it’s the worst possibility, you can’t let her know."
The icy water soaked his clothes and hair, turning his knuckles white due to excessive force.
This man, who had lived for over two decades, was for the first ti so panicked and disconcerted.
Luo Xiaoqian washed up briefly in the downstairs bathroom, prepared breakfast, and still seeing no sign of Leng Zimo coming downstairs, she wondered if she should look for him upstairs when he finally made his appearance.
He had taken a bath and changed into a dark suit. His face was now clean and tidy, seemingly no different from any other day.
"I thought you might have fallen asleep in there!" Luo Xiaoqian said with a smile as she placed the fried eggs on the table, "Here, your favorite, pepper fried eggs."
Leng Zimo took the chopsticks she offered, managed a forced smile, looked at the beautifully fried eggs on the plate, but had no appetite at all.
