Tang Ming resettled her onto the guest room bed, turned, and walked into the living room. Monts later, he ca back, pushing a small dining cart.
He pushed the cart to the side of her bed, lifted the golden lid on the cart, and the steaming hot porridge along with several light dishes were revealed.
"Co, eat sothing, we can talk while eating."
He personally served her a bowl of porridge, carefully blew on it to cool it down, and then brought the bowl to her, spooning the porridge into her mouth.
"I can do it myself." Xu Pei raised her hand to hold the bowl.
Tang Ming didn’t insist too much. After watching her take a few sips of the porridge, he then asked, "Do you really like Zimo?"
"Aren’t you the most aware of that?" Xu Pei looked down at the porridge in her bowl, gently stirring with her spoon.
Just like Huangfu Ao, Shen Yizhou, and Tong Ya, Tang Ming had grown up in the compound together with Leng Zimo and Xu Pei.
However, later on, due to career relocations, the Huangfu Family along with the Shen Family and Tong Family moved out of the compound one after another, while Xu Pei and Tang Ming, sharing a similar plight due to their family’s decline, left the compound as well.
Xu Pei was fairly fortunate to have the support of the Leng Family, but Tang Ming was not so lucky.
After his father died by swallowing a gun for so unknown reason, his mother took him out of the compound, and later on, remarried with him in tow.
Because of their similar misfortunes, even though Tang Ming wasn’t very close with anyone from the Leng Family, he always maintained contact with Xu Pei. Despite one being in the United States and the other in Europe, they frequently stayed in touch through emails. Sotis, when Tang Ming was on a business trip to the United States, the two would hang out and have als together.
It was also for this reason that Xu Pei, who always prided herself on strength, would never share her difficulties with Shen Yizhou and Tong Ya. She was more inclined to share her issues with Tang Ming.
The two of them continually encouraged and helped each other. It could be said that throughout these years, Tang Ming had been Xu Pei’s best friend. She concealed her feelings for Leng Zimo from everyone else but had revealed so to Tang Ming.
Taking the empty porridge bowl from her hands, he served her another bowl and placed it in her hands. Tang Ming took off his glasses and wiped the mist off with a handkerchief, "Xiao Pei, I know you might not like what I’m about to say, but love is not sothing you can force. Since Zimo now has soone he likes, why do you keep clinging on to this?"
"Because Luo Xiaoqian simply doesn’t deserve him!" Xu Pei clenched her teeth, "And, I’m not willing to give up!"
Tang Ming’s lips quirked up slightly, "Isn’t that latter reason the most important one?"
"Yes, I am not willing to give up!" Xu Pei gripped the spoon in her hand tightly, "For ten years, I struggled for him. I waited for him for ten years. How could he just change, betray like that? Do all of you n have no conscience at all?"
Tang Ming was taken aback.
"I’m not talking about you!" Xu Pei sighed, "I know you are different from them. Whether it’s Huangfu Ao or Yizhou... they will never understand us. Because they have always been on high, they never know how painful it is to fall from up there, nor do they comprehend the effort needed to climb back up. They will never understand this in their lifeti!"
"If that’s the case, then you can’t continue to be so dejected. Are you simply going to give up after so many years of striving?!"
