The next day, at the foot of the Emperor View Building.
A black Audi was parked not far away, and Tang Ming patted Xu Pei’s shoulder with a smile, "I should have spent more ti with you today, but there is an urgent matter at the company. I have to return to Europe this afternoon. If anything cos up, call anyti. Rember, you are not alone. Keep it up!"
"Okay!" She smiled at him, Xu Pei turned her face to look at the Emperor View Building not far off, opened the car door and got out, waved to Tang Ming inside the car, took a deep breath, and strode towards the Emperor View Building.
Watching her figure disappear into the crowd on the street, Tang Ming raised his hand to push up his glasses and glanced through the car window at the Emperor View Building, slowly retracting his gaze.
"Drive."
The black Audi quickly rged back into the flow of traffic.
Entering the Emperor View Building, Xu Pei went straight to the elevator and arrived at the 36th floor, where her office was located.
Just as she approached her office, passing by the water room, she faintly heard her na ntioned. Subconsciously, she lightened her footsteps and retraced her steps to the doorway of the water room.
"No way, President Leng hit soone?"
"I heard that Director Xu’s mouth was bleeding from the slap!"
"That can’t be, how could President Leng hit soone?"
"You guys are out of the loop, I heard that Director Xu seed to be targeting Miss Luo. I also heard that the mole in this plagiarism incident might just have been found!"
"So sneaky, you guys better be careful from now on, working under such a supervisor is really frightening!"
"Alas, what a hard life..."
A few staff mbers, while waiting for their coffee, casually chatted, unaware that Xu Pei was standing just outside the water room.
Xu Pei clenched her teeth in anger, about to explode when her assistant, Tian Yu, saw her and imdiately rushed over, "Director Xu, your timing is perfect, soone is looking for you!"
Hearing this, the people in the water room all turned around and upon seeing Xu Pei standing at the doorway, their faces turned instantly pale.
Giving them a cold look, Xu Pei strode toward her assistant Tian Yu, "What’s the matter?"
Tian Yu stopped, "Two police officers are here to see you."
Police looking for her?!
A flash of panic crossed Xu Pei’s eyes, "What do they want with ?"
"This, I don’t know. They only said they wanted to ask you so questions. They are waiting in the reception room now. Why don’t you go and see for yourself?" Tian Yu answered.
"Alright, pour two cups of tea for ." Xu Pei couldn’t be bothered with those gossipy employees anymore and walked to the reception room with so trepidation.
As Xu Pei strode away, the people in the water room listened to her footsteps fading before letting out sighs of relief.
"She was actually eavesdropping on us talking, so sneaky. It looks like we have to be careful even when speaking from now on!"
"Yeah, this woman is really cunning."
Seeing Tian Yu enter, several won imdiately crowded around her.
"What are the police here for? Are they investigating Xu Pei?"
"It’s definitely because of that plagiarism incident, right?"
...
"Enough!" Tian Yu said helplessly, "They didn’t tell anything, how would I know? Better get back to work, or Sister Xu might dock your bonuses."
There was a collective hush, and they still picked up their cups and left.
Sister Xu was indeed the nickna they had given Xu Pei behind her back.
As each returned to their posts, Xu Pei had already reached the conference room, and peeking through the slightly ajar door at the two uniford police officers sitting inside, she took a deep breath and mustered the courage to walk in.
