Chapter 142. My Daily Slacker Life in the Military
East China First Military District.
At dawn, sunlight slowly spread across the desert.
Training had started at five in the morning, yet Jiang Yichen did not leisurely get out of bed until nine. He ate the breakfast Su Linyu had prepared for him, and there was even a note stuck to the al box.
A warm smile appeared on his face, and he ate slowly, savoring every bite.
After yesterday’s so-called “companion-style training,” it seed that his formation had ostracized him. No one called him to the training grounds, and Instructor Huang did not even bother with him.
But Jiang Yichen did not mind in the slightest. On the contrary, he found it rather comfortable.
He only felt a little sorry for Su Linyu. Her training lasted from five in the morning until nine at night, yet she still prepared all three of his als every day, and even took ti at noon to chat with him and play a few gas.
Now that her martial talent had risen to the Supre-grade level, not only had she not slackened in her cultivation, she had beco even more diligent instead.
He often tried to persuade her otherwise, but he simply could not shake the resolve of a Warrior of Pure Devotion.
All Jiang Yichen could do was sigh inwardly. When soone truly loved you, no matter how busy they were, they would always make ti to respond to you.
As he ate the breakfast that was perfect in color, aroma, and taste, a happy smile rose at the corner of his lips.
After the al, Jiang Yichen began his slacker routine and eagerly started a ga.
But after several rounds, he found that without Su Linyu carrying him through it, the experience simply was not as satisfying, so he lost interest and shut down the computer.
After changing into his military uniform, he took the elevator downstairs for a walk.
Morning training was held inside the military district; only in the afternoon did they head outside.
The instructors called it tempering their tenacious will beneath the blazing sun.
Jiang Yichen, having gone through it once already in his previous life, rely smiled at that.
He leaned against the railing beside the reviewing stand and watched the training below, appreciating it without taking part.
When he grew bored of watching, he went to the shooting range to practice with a gun for a while.
Although he was only a recruit, he was also the first recruit in the military district internship to be exempt from training, so even the instructor at the shooting range did not make things difficult for him.
On the contrary, the man carefully explained how to use the firearms and even insisted on comparing marksmanship with him.
Unfortunately, Jiang Yichen’s shooting was truly terrible. Several shots missed the target altogether.
“You’re a new recruit. Bad aim is perfectly normal,” the instructor managing the shooting range said as he patted Jiang Yichen on the shoulder in consolation.
Jiang Yichen narrowed his eyes slightly. Fine, fine. So the man had found a sense of superiority in him, had he?
“No. Let’s do it again.”
The instructor laughed. “All right. I also enjoy dealing with martial arts geniuses.”
Jiang Yichen picked up the pistol and casually aid at the distant target.
“Ready, begin!”
The mont the instructor gave the order, Jiang Yichen did not even bother aiming and directly fired all five bullets.
The instructor timing him at the side kept shaking his head, but when he looked up, he froze.
Every shot had struck the target, and all five bullets had landed dead center.
???
Question marks practically sprang up over the instructor’s head. Was this really the sa person who had been missing the target a mont ago?
Jiang Yichen rely smiled faintly. Looking at the instructor’s expression, his mood imdiately improved.
If his marksmanship was poor, then he simply would not waste effort practicing it.
Using his spatial ability to bend the rules was still a skill in its own right.
“This shooting stuff isn’t difficult at all. I’m done playing.”
Jiang Yichen set down the pistol and waved goodbye to the instructor.
The instructor: “...”
After leaving the shooting range, Jiang Yichen strolled over to the formation, wandered around for a bit, and then returned to the dormitory building to rest.
That comfortable life continued for seven straight days. Jiang Yichen had almost toured the entire military district, finding entertainnt wherever he could.
Wonderful, truly wonderful!
“Brother Yichen, Instructor Huang said this morning that he wants you to go to the formation training grounds this afternoon. He said there’s sothing important to announce.”
At noon, Su Linyu, dressed in military uniform and busy in the kitchen, spoke while chopping vegetables.
Hearing that, Jiang Yichen imdiately understood what it was about.
In another fifteen days, the Recruit Wilderness Mission would begin. That mission was carried out in groups, so Instructor Huang was undoubtedly going to announce the team assignnts that afternoon.
In his previous life, because he had been weak, he had been assigned to the worst group, and his teammates had never stopped disliking him.
When the mission ultimately failed, they had all pushed the bla onto him.
But now things were completely different.
With strength like his, who would not be eager to have him?
A smile curved Jiang Yichen’s lips. “All right, I understand.”
“And another thing—you train very hard. Noon is your only rest ti, so stop going to all this trouble.”
He reached out and caught the hand Su Linyu was using to cut vegetables.
Su Linyu struggled lightly, then revealed a coquettish expression. “Brother Yichen~ I’m not tired. I like watching you eat the food I make. It makes feel so happy.”
Jiang Yichen was speechless. He pinched her cheek. “What if I start taking everything you do for for granted?”
“Really?” Su Linyu instantly brightened. “That ans Brother Yichen is willing to accept what I give him. That would make incredibly happy.”
“...” The corner of Jiang Yichen’s mouth twitched. What kind of crooked logic was that?
In the end, he let out a sigh and had no choice but to let her continue.
Before long, three dishes and a soup had been placed on the table.
Su Linyu seed to thoroughly enjoy eating with him. She was always staring at him in a daze with a silly smile, and he had no idea what she was thinking about.
After the al, Jiang Yichen held Su Linyu’s hand as they gathered at the training grounds.
The mont the people in the formation saw him arrive, expressions of utter despair appeared on their faces, as though the King of Hell himself had co.
Over the past few days, they had not only suffered physical tornt, they had also endured Jiang Yichen’s ntal assaults.
It was bad enough that the food lovers had already been pushed to the brink. Now even the bachelors had taken a heavy blow.
They were suffering through brutal training in the military district, while Young Master Jiang seed to be there rely to sample military life and fall in love.
Why was the gap between people so enormous!?
“Brother Yichen, when training ends, get so snacks too, all right? I haven’t had any in ages.”
The mont Jiang Yichen and Su Linyu entered the formation, Tang Long imdiately looked at him eagerly and spoke up.
Jiang Yichen could not help smiling. The poor kid really had been starved of decent food.
“All right, no problem. There’ll be plenty.”
Tang Long’s eyes imdiately lit up. “Brother Yichen, you’re practically my savior!”
When the surrounding recruits heard that, they could not help revealing envious looks as well.
“Young Master Jiang, get so too. After seven days of cafeteria food, I’m about ready to shave my head and beco a monk. There’s not a trace of flavor in it.”
“Young Master Jiang, I want so too. Please.”
“I’ll pay. Just make sure you get so.”
“...”
Looking at this group of clamoring recruits, Jiang Yichen pressed a hand down to quiet them. “It’s nothing. Just so snacks and fruit. Once training ends, everyone will get so.”
He grandly waved his hand. The supplies were just sitting unused in his System Space anyway. If taking so out could buy a bit of happiness, he was more than willing to do it.
Because of his words, cheers broke out across Formation One, leaving the neighboring formations green with envy.
From within the ranks, Jiang Feng swept a cold gaze across the scene, and a disdainful smile appeared on his lips.
But his body was far more honest. His throat bobbed several tis.
“Silence!”
At that mont, Instructor Huang suddenly roared, and the formation imdiately fell quiet.
“Today is the last day of willpower training. Right turn! Double-ti, march!”
After an entire week, the formation that had once been lazy and disorderly turned right with perfect precision at Instructor Huang’s command and ran forward in neat order.
They made their way to the desert training grounds beneath a scorching sun, where they went through the usual routine of standing at attention under the blazing sunlight for three straight hours.
It did not end until dusk.
“Very good! One week of willpower training is over. Starting tomorrow, the group training plan will begin.”
As the sun sank in the west, the glow of sunset covered Instructor Huang’s face.
He took a folded sheet of A4 paper from his chest pocket and slowly unfolded it. “Each group will consist of five to six people. I will now assign you according to your training performance over the past week.”
“Group One: Jiang Yichen, Su Linyu, Tang Long, Chu Xingchen, Jiang Feng!”
“Group Two: Wu Qing, Wang Lei, Sun Qiang...”
“Group Three...”
As Instructor Huang read out the group mbers, Jiang Yichen frowned slightly when he heard that Jiang Feng had been placed in his group.
Sothing was not right.
From an instructor’s point of view, Su Linyu, Tang Long, and Chu Xingchen should have been split up. That would have been the best way to maximize the number of groups able to complete the wilderness mission.
The Recruit Wilderness Mission counted toward their internship results, so instructors would naturally consider how to maximize the completion rate.
But now the strongest people had been placed together, along with Jiang Feng. At a glance, it was obvious that sothing was off.
Fine, fine. So this was another attempt to trip him up.
