Chapter 63. The Weakness of a Martial God Father

In the esports area, Jiang Yichen took off his gaming headset and opened the gaming pod.

Even after playing gas for an entire day, he was still full of energy.

It was not because of anything else, but because...

Jiang Yichen looked at Su Linyu beside him and could not help sighing in admiration. A girl who played gas with you, fed you kills, and praised you with boundless enthusiasm—

This gaming experience was absolutely perfect.

Thinking back to his previous life, even when he rely wanted Lin Wan to take a walk with him, she would pressure him, saying that with that kind of ti, he might as well focus on improving his martial path realm.

But Su Linyu was completely different. He could tell that she wanted him to win the Huaxia Team League and was worried that the teams he had raised would be poached away, causing him to lose the league.

Even so, she still chose to follow his wishes.

A satisfied smile rose to Jiang Yichen’s lips.

“Brother Yichen, were you happy today?”

“Yeah, I was.”

“Then tomorrow, take to see the teams. Didn’t you say before that you wanted to help you manage them? I’ve been learning how to manage things lately, so tomorrow I want to try it in practice.” Su Linyu blinked her bright, lively eyes.

Jiang Yichen let out a long hum. “Give it another two days. Once everyone who wants to leave is gone, I’ll take you there.”

Jiang Feng had only just started poaching people. So players were still wavering, unsure whether to stay or go, waiting to see who would offer the higher price in the end.

People like that could be bought off at any ti and would only stab him in the back sooner or later.

In his previous life, Leng Zhenghan, the vice-captain of the Yanhuang Team, had been secretly bought off by Jiang Feng. During the competition, he had deliberately thrown obstacles in their way, and the team had ended up failing even to make the top ten.

Only those who were still willing to stay after another two days would be worth using.

“All right...” Su Linyu pressed her red lips together, her worry practically written across her face.

If they waited another two days, then the teams Brother Yichen had spent four years building would all be poached away by Jiang Feng.

The Huaxia number-one Yanhuang Team, along with Thunder Team and Phoenix Team, whose strength was no weaker—if Jiang Feng got all of them, then there would be almost no suspense left over who would win the league championship.

What should she do? If Brother Yichen lost his heir status, how could she stand against her father?

Her father would definitely force her.

Su Linyu lowered her head, unwilling to let Brother Yichen see the sorrow in her eyes.

“Do not worry. Even if every last one of them leaves, it will still be fine. I have my own way of handling it.” Jiang Yichen gave her a mysterious smile and comforted her.

Su Linyu forced a smile and raised her head, nodding. “Mm. I believe in Brother Yichen.”

“Then let’s go. We’ll have dinner together, and I’ll have soone take you ho afterward.”

“Okay~”

Jiang Yichen and Su Linyu had just stepped out of the esports hall when Jiang Yichen felt an intense killing intent. His brows slowly drew together.

With his spiritual perception, he sensed his father striding toward them in a fury, sleeves rolled up and Seven Wolves belt in hand.

Damn!

Why was his father here?

And judging from that posture...

“You little brat, get over here.” Jiang Zhentian lashed the belt against the wall, producing a crisp, frightening crack.

“...” Jiang Yichen froze, then gave an awkward smile. “Dad, what are you doing?”

“What am I doing? You’re about to find out.” Jiang Zhentian snorted and imdiately swung the belt at him.

Jiang Yichen’s pupils contracted. He used the Great Void Art to teleport aside and dodge it.

He dodged it?

Jiang Zhentian stared blankly for a mont, then grew even angrier. He pointed at his son with the hand holding the belt.

“You even dare dodge? You really are hopeless unless you are beaten. The Team League is right around the corner, and instead of preparing, you spent the entire day playing gas.”

“Your teams that were raised with so much money are all being poached away, and you are still here doing nothing useful.”

As he spoke, Jiang Zhentian raised his hand again, ready to swing the belt.

Jiang Yichen teleported again with spatial movent, widening the distance between them, utterly baffled.

In the past, his father had never cared how he spent his ti. So what was going on today?

Could it be that because he had broken through to fifth-realm Grandmaster, his father had finally seen a bit of hope in him and wanted him to start walking the right path?

Father and son chased each other up and down the corridor. Su Linyu wanted to speak up and stop them, but Uncle Feng held her back and shook his head.

After dodging several tis in a row, Jiang Yichen knew this could not continue.

“Dad, stop hitting . If you keep this up, I’m going to use my ultimate move.”

“Go ahead. Let see what you’re capable of, you little brat.” Jiang Zhentian was in the middle of a rage and was not the least bit afraid.

After all, he was a Martial God. Was he really supposed to fear being bullied by his own son?

Then he swung the belt again.

This ti, however, Jiang Yichen did not dodge. He pulled out his phone and held it to his ear.

“Hello, Mom? Did you hear that just now?”

Then he turned on speakerphone.

“Jiang Zhentian, just try hitting our son. Didn’t I tell you to talk to him properly?”

Buzz!

The Seven Wolves belt that had just been swung out was instantly knocked aside by spiritual power. Jiang Zhentian’s expression stiffened, as though he had run into his natural enemy.

“You little brat...”

Jiang Zhentian let out a helpless sigh, forced a smile onto his face, and leaned closer to the phone.

“Qingyue, I didn’t. I was just ssing around with our son.”

“Xiao Chen, is that true? If your father is lying to , I’ll make him kneel on durian tonight.”

Jiang Yichen looked at his father, the corners of his lips curving upward.

His father feared neither heaven nor earth. He had not even feared ten ninth-rank Demon Emperors.

But the one thing he did fear was his fiery wife from Sichuan-Chongqing.

“Dad, are you still going to hit ?” he asked quietly.

Jiang Zhentian curled his lips and sighed, putting away the Seven Wolves belt.

Then he gave Jiang Yichen a slight shake of the head and a aningful look.

“It’s fine, Mom. Dad was just fooling around with . I’m hanging up now.”

Jiang Yichen exchanged a few more words with his mother before hanging up.

Jiang Zhentian walked over in annoyance and slapped a hand onto his shoulder, sending a stream of spiritual energy into his body.

“Your inner and outer force have fused into one, and your qi can be projected outward and shaped. So you really have reached the Grandmaster realm.”

A look of shock flashed through his eyes. Frowning, he asked, “Has your martial talent improved? How did it improve? And how exactly did you break through to Grandmaster?”

Jiang Yichen had expected this. With complete sincerity, he replied, “I improved while lying down, and I broke through after sleeping.”

The mont the words left his mouth, pain shot through his shoulder.

“You think your father is a three-year-old child? Do I look that easy to fool?”

Jiang Yichen was helpless. But that really was the truth.

“All right, all right, if you do not want to say it, then forget it. Then what about that pill you gave ?” Jiang Zhentian changed the subject.

“I picked it up for free.”

Jiang Zhentian: “...”

He was just about to lose his temper when the phone in his pocket rang. After glancing at the ssage, he frowned.

“You have not a serious bone in your body. Fine. If you do not want to say it, then I will not ask.”

“But let remind you: one month from now, you and Jiang Feng will compete in the Huaxia Team League. Whoever wins the championship becos the heir. You had better take it seriously.”

“You should go bring back those teams you spent four years building. I’ll pay for it. Do you understand?”

Jiang Zhentian’s tone was stern as he reminded him.

But in truth, he was delighted. Seeing his disappointing son suddenly break through to fifth-realm Grandmaster and stand above others of his age—

It felt as though rotten wood had finally been carved into sothing useful.

Jiang Yichen nodded, answering rather perfunctorily, “Understood, understood. I’ll go take a look in a couple of days.”

“In a couple of days? By then all the team mbers will have been poached away. You are going tomorrow, no matter what.”

“Bring back the Yanhuang Team. Otherwise, how are you supposed to win the league? Do as I say, prepare properly, and stop being as spineless and useless as before.”

Just as Jiang Yichen was about to answer, the system prompt rang out in his mind.
