’Could it be?’

Hee Lingchuan couldn’t help but look west, in the direction of the burned-down Official Residence District.

"For no reason. Eldest Young Master, we just need to hide here and we’ll be fine!" Fuzzy Peach had killed many people and suffered many injuries, but he wasn’t reckless. He didn’t want to get tangled up with an opponent he couldn’t beat.

Just then, soone behind them suddenly exclaid in pleasant surprise, "Eldest Young Master, you’re here!"

’That voice... could it be?’

Hee Lingchuan was overjoyed. He whipped his head around and, sure enough, saw Zeng Feixiong with five of his n standing at the entrance to a cellar.

"What took you so long?" Eldest Young Master Hee opened his mouth with a complaint. "Where’s my father?"

With the arrival of six skilled fighters on his side, his group’s strength had suddenly swelled. Hee Lingchuan felt much more at ease.

"The Prefect sent us down to help you, Eldest Young Master. He’s staying up top with his n to fight off the Resentful Souls." Zeng Feixiong looked around, bewildered, his mouth agape. "What’s going on here? Why aren’t we helping the National Preceptor?"

"He’s up to no good. He even tried to ambush just now." Hee Lingchuan’s expression was grim. "All of you, stay put right here. No one is to go up!"

Although he didn’t know why the National Preceptor would try to harm Hee Lingchuan, Zeng Feixiong hesitated for two or three seconds before deciding to stay and protect the Eldest Young Master. The fighting up ahead was fierce, but the National Preceptor and Captain Nian were both formidable n. They could surely take care of themselves.

Hee Lingchuan narrowed his eyes.

’Ever since he’d first t Sunx Fuping, the National Preceptor had put on the airs of a pompous master. Why hasn’t he unleashed so ultimate counter-attack move by now? Nian Songyu is blocking most of the monsters’ attacks, so where are the National Preceptor’s skills?’

’Even he, a re spectator, knew to cut off the head of the snake. As long as the Black Flood Dragon on the city gate wasn’t eliminated, there would be no end to the monsters on the ground.’

’Why hasn’t Sunx Fuping made his move?’

Hee Lingchuan grumbled internally. ’If he’d known the National Preceptor was just a paper tiger, why would he and his father have bothered obeying his orders and taking his crap?’

’Or perhaps the Da Yuan Kingdom’s fortunes were so weak that the power of its National Preceptor, whose fate was tied to it, had also waned?’

In truth, he didn’t know that Sunx Fuping was using all his power to maintain the Barrier of reality. After all, the ones Hee Chunhua and the others were facing outside were not so stray cats and dogs, but the Great Wind Army!

With his power and focus divided, the National Preceptor found his hands tied in this battle, much to his own frustration.

Beneath the South City Gate, Nian Songyu was already panting. "National Preceptor, if you don’t use your trump card soon, it’ll be too late!" Their individual strength was limited, while the Black Flood Dragon seed to possess infinite power on its own turf. The fight had been unfair from the very beginning; how could they possibly win?

Sunx Fuping, who already had his sword in hand, had just slit a Demon Ape’s throat. "Fine! Buy thirty breaths, completely undisturbed!" His Swordsmanship was inferior to Nian Songyu’s, but it was by no ans weak.

Taking advantage of the lull, he scattered a dozen or so Copper Beans on the ground. This was the Secret Art of Scattering Beans into Soldiers. The Golden Armored Soldiers that sprouted were identical to their two fallen comrades from before.

They ford a wall of soldiers, protecting Sunx Fuping securely in the center.

Divine Techniques usable on a battlefield consu a great deal of True Power, and using them in this Illusion Realm doubled the Energy Consumption Value. Sunx Fuping was really putting it all on the line, even going so far as to use up two deep green Profound Crystals in one go.

Previously, the Walnut-Plate had flown back and forth across the great desert for several double-hours, carrying more than two hundred people, and had only used up three Lower-grade Profound Crystals, whose quality was far inferior to these two. If Hee Lingchuan had seen this, he would have slapped his thigh in regret—three luxurious mansions in the Great Capital, complete with manors, beautiful maids, and their own unique products, had just vanished into thin air.

The so-called "unique products" referred to the special outputs of so great ancestral mansions. For instance, a spring that produced water perfect for brewing fine tea and wine, or an old, estate-grown plum or jasmine tree with a peculiar fragrance that made pastries and incense cakes produced there far tastier than those from other workshops. These mansions possessed a unique geomantic energy and water system that could, in turn, nourish their owner. Of course, the greater significance lay in their prestige factor, which allowed them to look down upon ordinary luxury hos in terms of both status and price.

You could say it was inhumanly extravagant.

Er, getting off track.

Nian Songyu, of course, had no ti to lant the cost. He looked at the monsters swarming in from all directions, calculated the thirty-breath ti limit, and gritted his teeth. "Alright!"

If he didn’t go all out while he still had so strength left, they would end up as at on soone else’s chopping block.

Sunx Fuping’s gaze swept over the ruins of South City, and sohow, his eyes t Hee Lingchuan’s.

Of course, he also saw Zeng Feixiong and Fuzzy Peach.

Hee Lingchuan had grown much bolder ever since he discovered that the monsters summoned by the Black Flood Dragon wouldn’t attack him. He even dared to climb to the second floor of an abandoned tavern to watch the show, and Zeng Feixiong and the others naturally had no choice but to follow.

This was the corner where the eastern and southern sections of the city wall t, at most thirty paces away from the wall itself.

The mont their eyes t, a chill ran down Hee Lingchuan’s spine, for Sunx Fuping gave him a bizarre smile.

It was the kind of smile that seed to say, ’You’re in for so serious trouble.’

At that mont, Nian Songyu roared at the sky. A green light gathered around him, and the phantom image of a fifty-foot-tall giant with bulging muscles appeared directly above him.

Like Nian Songyu, the Giant wielded Dual Blades. And though it was just a phantom image, its blades were forty feet long!

As monsters attacked from all sides, Nian Songyu casually executed two horizontal slashes, followed by a downward chop into the air.

Wherever his blades passed, the Giant’s phantom blades followed, their reach extending a good thirty feet beyond his own.

With a flash of cold light and a crisscrossing web of Saber Qi, he actually managed to cleave through every monster within a seventy-foot radius in a single go, leaving no intact corpses behind.

Even the Demon Birds in the sky rained down, thudding against the ground.

A few more follow-up strikes, and the monsters in the area would be more or less cleared out.

This set of Martial Arts had a na that Hee Lingchuan was exceptionally familiar with: Primordial Power. It was Nian Songyu’s ultimate technique, allowing him to borrow the strength of a Primordial Giant. It helped him remain undefeated on the battlefield and could even suppress the Divine Techniques of others.

Its only drawback, perhaps, was that the display of divine might was too brief—it only allowed him to be the ultimate badass for a re fifty seconds.

With the surrounding threats temporarily gone, Sunx Fuping also took an Ivory Carving from his robes, bit his forefinger, and dotted the sculpture with his blood.

Hee Lingchuan was too far away to see the details of the Ivory Carving, but he could tell that the sculpture itself was slightly yellowed—a characteristic of aged ivory. It was clearly an old artifact.

Curiously, after anointing it with blood, Sunx Fuping released his grip and closed his eyes, chanting silently. The Ivory Carving, in turn, floated motionless in mid-air and began to emit a faint glow.

The mont the statue appeared, the Black Flood Dragon, which had been watching from the city gate, could suddenly no longer sit still. It slithered straight down.

It was over one hundred and fifty feet long and moved faster than a galloping horse. It practically sprang to the ground and, in an instant, had charged in front of Nian Songyu and Sunx Fuping!

The Black Flood Dragon’s target was the Ivory Carving.

At this mont, Sunx Fuping stood with his eyes closed, his lips moving as he chanted. He was clearly in no position to block it.

Their only hope was Nian Songyu.

Captain Nian was currently wreaking havoc in all directions. Even the Giant phantom above his head was gradually turning red, filled with a berserk aura.
