[John Kaisen's POV]
Infinity Castle - Master Bedroom
The glowing blue text of the System hovered in the dark of my bedroom, illuminating the wooden walls with an obnoxious, artificial light.
[Feat Achieved! Save Titan's Family]
[Reward: 1x Silver Random Gacha Ticket]
[Feat Achieved! Rescue the New Guardians from a Total Party Wipe]
[Reward: 1x Gold Random Gacha Ticket]
"I should seriously start billing Cecil for babysitting his roster," I muttered. If the system was handing out Gold tickets just for keeping Earth's supposed protectors from becoming bloody stains on the pavent, the bar for heroism was practically in the gutter.
[Feat Achieved! Face the Strongest in the Verse]
[Reward: 1x Gold Random Gacha Ticket]
[Feat Achieved! Survive Against The One and Only: Battle Beast]
[Reward: 1x Diamond Random Gacha Ticket]
I had to pause at that one.
A Diamond ticket? And the system actually threw an expletive in there. It was almost funny, a stark confirmation of just how utterly outmatched I had been. Earning a Diamond reward just for managing to keep my pulse going against that Masochist freak really put my own mortality into perspective.
[Feat Achieved! Fight Your Crippling Addiction]
[Reward: 1x Silver Random Gacha Ticket]
[Feat Achieved! Witness What it's Like to be Lucky for Once]
[Reward: 1x Gold Random Gacha Ticket]
"So resisting the urge to gamble my life away is a asurable achievent now," I noted dryly. "Good to know my psychological flaws are monetizable for you ROBs."
[Feat Achieved! Gain Your First True Fan]
[Reward: 1x Silver Random Gacha Ticket]
[Feat Achieved! Have Your Summon Beco No.1 Hero]
[Reward: 1x Platinum Random Gacha Ticket]
[Challenge Completed! Bring the Civilian Casualty Count to Zero]
[Reward: 1x Platinum Random Gacha Ticket]

[Reward: 1x Gold Random Gacha Ticket]

I stared blankly at the notifications. They chid with a cheerful ding one after another in the silent room, as if the System was actively trying to cheer up with a shower of digital dopamine.
It was a complete flop.
I swiped my hand through the air, violently dismissing the glowing screens until the room was plunged back into the suffocating darkness.
"Who the hell is my true fan?" I muttered into the empty room, my voice way too hoarse. But I didn't actually care.
I was sitting on the edge of my futon, staring at my wounded hands. It was good to know Titan's family… little Fiona… was safe and there were zero civilian casualties.
But I was wallowing in a deep pit of self-bla to even be glad.
'I fucking failed him.'
The soft, familiar slide of a wooden door breaking the silence pulled from my dark spiral.
Naki stepped into the dimly lit room. She had changed out of her battle-worn kimono for a soft, simple white yukata. Her long dark hair cascaded down her shoulders, framing her pale face.
I wanted to tell her to leave and leave alone to punish myself in peace. But there was no energy left in my lungs to even raise my voice.
Instead of sitting formally on the seat across the room as she usually did, Naki walked straight up to .
She gently took my bruised hand in her pale, delicate fingers and sat closely by my side on the edge of the futon.
"Naki... what are you doing?" I whispered, my voice cracking again.
"Master," she said softly, her single eye refusing to et mine as she looked down at our joined hands. "I may not rember much about human emotions before turning into this... but I know what it looks like when soone is nurturing self-hatred in the dark. Please... let stay and keep you company."
I pulled my hand away slightly. "But Naki... I failed. I failed him. Sebas is... he died because of my weakness."
She gently reached out and cupped my cheek, forcing to look at her. "Master, you must rember your own gift. Our connection to you was permanently strengthened when you acquired the 'Insurance' Blessing."
She caressed a cut on my cheek, her touch incredibly tender. "Sir Sebas is bound to your soul, just as I am. He will be revived by that Chaotic God. As long as it may take, he will return to us."
I swallowed hard. "But it could take weeks, even months. And… and he'll be incredibly weak when he cos back, exposing him to more danger because I'm not strong enough to protect either of you..."
Before I could finish the self-deprecating sentence, Naki leaned forward.
Her soft lips pressed gently against mine.
I froze. The suddenness of it shocked my exhausted brain to crash. My first instinct was to pull away, to tell her that now was not the ti for this. That I was drowning in guilt and unworthy of her.
But then I tasted salt.
I realized she was crying. A single, hot tear traced down her pale cheek and fell onto our joined lips.
She wasn't just offering empty comfort. She was desperate and I think terrified of seeing slip back into the dark, self-destructive vice of gambling addiction that had claid her previous husband. She wanted to pull away from my toxic thoughts and anchor to her.
And for the first ti since I arrived in this accursed world, instead of backing away from a genuine connection... I leaned in.
I wrapped my arms around her waist, pulling her delicate fra closer. The kiss deepened, shifting from a desperate plea for distraction into a slow exchange of raw emotions. My tongue slipped past her lips, exploring the sweet, intoxicating warmth of her mouth. She eagerly reciprocated, her own tongue eting mine in a gentle, rhythmic dance.
She let out a soft, shuddering breath, her hands sliding up to tangle in my hair. The suffocating weight of the day began to ebb away, overridden by the primal heat pooling in my head.
We were two broken people seeking a lifeline, and we had found it in each other.
My hands, still feeling rough and unworthy, hesitated over the pristine white fabric of her yukata. I felt filthy, but Naki didn't care. She reached up, her cool fingers wrapping around my wrists, guiding my hands to the curve of her waist.

"Don't pull away," she whispered against my lips. "Not tonight. Please, Mas…John."
The sound of my real na, spoken with such naked vulnerability, shattered the last of my ntal walls. With a ragged groan, I pressed her back against the soft futon. My mouth left hers to trail grounding kisses down her jawline and the slender column of her neck.
As we held each other, the barriers between us fell away. The simple white silk of her yukata slipped slightly from her shoulder in the dim light of the bedroom, revealing her pale, flawless skin. In the dim light, she looked ethereal, a beautiful paradox of demonic nature and delicate human fragility.
I couldn't help but be srized, my hands reverently tracing the curve of her waist. Naki gasped, leaning into my touch, her fingers digging into my shoulders. She let out a stuttering sigh, so devoid of her formal composure that it sent a jolt of profound warmth straight to my chest.
"You are breathtaking," I murmured, my voice thick with a cocktail of exhaustion and overwhelming affection.
She looked up, her single eye shining with a mix of shock and trust. She reached out, her cool fingers resting gently against my cheek. "We are both a ss, aren't we?" she breathed heavily. "Let us be a ss together. Stay with , John."
The hours seed to blur, the room filling with the sounds of our ragged breathing. My mind finally went completely quiet as everything dissolved into the intoxicating sensation of Naki's coolness anchoring in the dark.
Eventually, she eased her hug, allowing to shift and collapse fully onto the soft futon beside her.
My chest was heaving and my heart was hamring a frantic beat.
Naki slowly shifted, curling her body securely against my side. She rested her head on my warm chest, right over my racing heart, while I wrapped an arm around her cold waist, my fingers lazily tracing the smooth curves of her waist as the paradox of hot and cool intoxicated both of us.
We lay there in the quiet darkness, our bodies tangled together after what had to be hours of simply holding onto one another to survive the night.
The horrors of the day weren't magically erased.
But right here, right now, anchored by the steady rise and fall of Naki's chest and the coolness of her bare skin against mine, I finally felt like I could breathe again.
