Fang ngzhu wasn’t very accustod to being in such close proximity to a man, so she quietly moved away a bit.
Su Xin moved a little closer too, but maintained a slightly more distant space than before, so their bodies were just barely touching, not as tightly pressed as earlier.
Seeing that Su Xin knew when to keep his distance, she sighed in relief and didn’t continue to move farther away.
After taking a few sips of hot water, Fang ngzhu felt a rush of warmth spreading from her stomach, driving away much of the chill inside her. She placed the cup on the coffee table in front of her, but just as she withdrew her hand, Su Xin grasped it firmly.
She struggled for a mont.
But Su Xin held on too tightly, she couldn’t break free. With a resigned attitude of ’well, he’s already touched and held,’ she simply let him hold her hand.
Yet she didn’t want the atmosphere to beco ambiguous, so she quickly started thinking of a topic to distract Su Xin:
"Oh right, your parents... uh, no, how long have you been living alone?"
"More than two years now."
Su Xin wrapped an arm around Fang ngzhu’s shoulders and leaned back on the sofa. Before Fang ngzhu could say anything, he quickly continued,
"I had just turned fourteen back then. When I first started living alone, I was really scared at night and often couldn’t sleep at all. During the day, I had to go to school, and I kept falling asleep in class, which got scolded by teachers all the ti..."
Listening to Su Xin calmly recount these sad stories, Fang ngzhu felt a surge of maternal affection. She no longer minded him holding her shoulder, and instead looked at this boy, who had a young face but such mature thoughts, with a heart full of pity.
But soon, she sensed sothing was off.
"You... where are you rubbing against?"
"No, you can’t kiss ... no! This is still my first kiss... mmph!"
Several minutes passed by.
Whether from embarrassnt or shyness, Fang ngzhu’s face turned bright red. She pushed Su Xin away, stood up, and started straightening her disheveled clothes as she headed for the door, speaking anxiously,
"We can’t do this. I can’t be with a boy so much younger than ."
"We’re not suited for each other!"
But right then, Su Xin grabbed her wrist, pulling her back into his arms as they both fell onto the sofa.
Looking seriously at Fang ngzhu’s pretty face up close, Su Xin said,
"Stay with , okay?"
"I really like you, I’m serious."
Fang ngzhu’s eyes avoided his, and her heart was racing. Her mind was almost blank, not knowing what to do, she simply muttered,
"But... Surong is still waiting for ..."
"It’s okay, just say sothing ca up at ho and you have to go back. They won’t bla you."
"But..."
Before she could finish, Su Xin kissed her again, completely sweeping Fang ngzhu off her feet. By the ti she ca to her senses, her clothes were even more disheveled.
She quickly blurted out,
"No! Su Xin! This is too fast for us! I’m not ready yet."
"Can we take it slow?"
"Give so ti, let’s slowly get to know each other and see if we’re really suited to be together. You’re being too impulsive right now."
Su Xin lifted his head earnestly and said,
"So people know if they’re suited for each other as soon as they et, so spend their whole lives and still don’t understand their partners. Relationships aren’t built by spending ti together, they’re nurtured once you’re together."
"The nature of relationships is often set at the beginning. If you’re friends, you’ll always just be friends. If you’re lovers, it’s different from the start."
"If you didn’t have feelings for , we wouldn’t have co this far."
"So, just accept what’s inside your heart."
After saying that, Su Xin kissed her once more.
Fang ngzhu felt her mind going blank.
Under Su Xin’s relentless advances, she suddenly realized how things had developed to this point. She was no longer sure about her own feelings.
"That’s right, if I didn’t care for him, I wouldn’t have let him be so forward multiple tis."
"Maybe I didn’t even realize I’ve fallen for him already?"
"But when did it start?"
"How could I have fallen for a high school boy a few years younger than ?"
"Ah, what a little devil!"
After thinking for a long ti, Fang ngzhu just felt more confused. She sighed inwardly, resigning herself to Su Xin’s whims.
...
In the KTV private room.
Shan Shidong kept checking his watch repeatedly, his face full of anxiety.
Jiang Suroo glanced at him, amused, as she ate barbecue beside him, and said,
"Shidong, if you’re this anxious, why not call and hurry her along? Watching you makes worried too."
Shan Shidong hesitated for a mont but eventually couldn’t let go of his concern. He picked up his phone to dial out.
The call took a while to connect.
"ngzhu, when are you coming over?"
"Sorry, just now... my mom called , urging to go ho. Sothing ca up, I was about to call you guys. Why don’t we et another ti?"
"But..."
"That’s it, I’m going ho."
"Beep beep beep..."
Hearing the busy tone on the other end, Shan Shidong stood there stunned.
Seeing this, Jiang Suroo curiously asked,
"What’s up?"
"ngzhu said she’s not coming."
"Huh? Why?"
"She said sothing suddenly ca up at ho, she needs to go back, and we’ll arrange it another ti."
"Ah, she’s stood up again!"
Jiang Suroo sighed helplessly.
But seeing Shan Shidong still looking absent-minded, she reassured him,
"It’s okay, we can just plan for next ti. Even though I don’t see much hope, I still think you and ngzhu make a good match. I’ll keep helping set you two up..."
Shan Shidong shook his head, interrupting her,
"I feel sothing’s off."
"What?"
"I think ngzhu might be lying to ."
Jiang Suroo looked at him, confused: "What do you an?"
"I have this feeling that ngzhu is definitely at that guy’s house, and right now they’re..."
Jiang Suroo looked skeptical:
"No way!"
She waved her hand, laughing,
"You really don’t know ngzhu well. She might be outgoing and slightly willful at tis but has always been conservative in relationships. Plus, she has high standards; there’s no way she’d go ho with a boy she’s just t this late. Especially when he’s a high school student."
"She told she’s looking for a mature, stable man who can tolerate her willfulness and take care of her."
"Su Xin doesn’t fit her ideal type at all, it’s impossible between them."
Shan Shidong, puzzled, responded:
"But didn’t you just say ngzhu’s behavior towards him is a prelude to love?"
"A prelude is a prelude, but actually being together is still far off. At most, she has so good impression of him, but with ngzhu’s personality, even with that, she’ll choose to take it slow. Once they’ve interacted for a long ti, ngzhu will realize he’s not suitable for her."
"So just relax."
Jiang Suroo said with a casual air.
