"Volcano!"
Wind Kill’s pupils trembled violently.
It wasn’t just anger or grief for his comrade’s death; more so, he realized that with Volcano dead, he stood no chance against the elusive black robe alone.
But.
After killing Volcano, the black robe began flickering again, appearing at the front, then the back, the left, and the right, without warning or pattern.
Wind Kill could only roll on the ground back and forth.
Dodging ti and again.
He knew the black robe was waiting for an opportunity.
Any delay in reaction or sluggish movent could an a golden bullet coming his way.
Under such ntal pressure, Wind Kill’s mind was at the brink of collapse every mont, and soon he felt ntally exhausted and physically weak.
"No, at this rate, my body won’t hold up."
Wind Kill gritted his teeth, caught a glimpse of Su Xin vanishing, and in the next mont, rolled over again, pretending to slip his right hand as he was about to push himself up into a crouch, causing him to fall on the ground.
anwhile, five small wind balls quietly ford on his left hand’s fingers.
These wind bullets, slightly weaker than handgun bullets, still couldn’t be endured by the human body. The crucial point was their firing speed, nearly like a human automated rifle. If the black robe fell for it and appeared beside him to attack, he was confident he could unleash a burst.
Although fallen, he couldn’t avoid the black robe’s attack, but he would rather perish together than endure further tornt.
Yet as Wind Kill waited in ambush.
Su Xin didn’t seize the opportunity to attack but instead continued flickering around him.
"Damn it! That guy didn’t take the bait!"
Wind Kill cursed inwardly.
He propped himself up with his arms and with effort, sprang up.
And at that mont.
Su Xin suddenly appeared beside him.
A handgun appeared in his hand again.
He took just a split second to grasp the scene, his gun muzzle turning.
He didn’t take long to aim.
Pulled the trigger.
"Bang!"
That shot hit Wind Kill squarely on the forehead, and he collapsed with a thud, twitched a few tis, and then was still.
"Truly trained professionals, with instant teleportation and a gun, took this long to resolve. You two had every right to feel proud."
Su Xin kicked him a couple of tis, confird his death, then casually closed the gun’s safety, lodging the pistol into his pocket, and fetched a pair of white gloves, rummaging through Wind Kill’s body.
Besides an earpiece, there were no other special items found.
At most, a bulletproof vest worth noting, since such an item can’t be purchased easily, and its style resembled a normal cotton vest, wearable as regular clothing for unforeseen situations.
But Su Xin worried about any high-tech tracking device inside the vest, so he dared not take others’ properties casually.
Finally, he only took a small folding knife, slightly longer than a nail clipper, from the opponent’s waist.
"Dead now, shouldn’t notice, right?"
Su Xin jested to himself.
Just a ten-minute wait, and his [Other-Transformation] ability would provide more intel on Wind Kill.
Then, he approached Volcano’s side.
At this mont, Volcano was long dead, his lower body entirely wrapped in magma, which was now nearing cooldown, transforming into softly red-glowing rocks, still exuding significant heat like a furnace.
Su Xin leaned closer, intending to thoroughly search his upper body, but then faint gunfire echoed from afar.
"Hmm? More people?"
Su Xin paused.
He had just heard Volcano ntion that the Nirvana Association had more coming, but he hadn’t expected them to engage in a fight with others.
Soon, he recalled soone laying a honey trap for him last night, likely monitoring Lening City around the clock, waiting for his appearance.
The ones engaging with the Nirvana Association were probably them.
"Looks like, those people weren’t from the Nirvana Association, noticing the commotion here, arrived and clashed with their n."
"Perfect timing, I’ve got limited ammo left."
"Let’s get so supplies from you guys."
Indifferently, Su Xin lowered his head once more, rummaging through Volcano leisurely, eventually choosing to pull out a few strands of his hair.
...
"Damn! Damn it!"
In a hotel room, Celestial Eye’s eyes were bloodshot, fists clenched, and he pounded the bed in fury.
Hearing Wind Kill and Volcano’s subsequent screams, there was no doubt as to what happened, not to ntion his Abnormal Eye hovered over the area, surveying back and forth after hearing the cries, imdiately rushing over.
Indeed, he saw Wind Kill and Volcano lying still, while the black robe was searching them.
Even worse.
The reinforcents he had sent chose to intercept the opponent to delay, positioning themselves directly in front of their vehicle.
A fierce exchange erupted.
The opponent’s numbers and firepower surpassed his, with Wind Kill and Volcano dead; others would inevitably fall in vain.
"This mission has utterly failed."
"And lost so many people!"
"The black robe! That guy..."
Celestial Eye was full of unwillingness and resentnt.
He couldn’t fathom why the black robe attacked them and decisively killed both Wind Kill and Volcano.
By rights, even if unwilling to join them, the black robe shouldn’t cause hostilities for no reason, considering the Nirvana Association is an international organization.
Unless the black robe had a grudge against the Nirvana Association.
Or, he had joined a rival organization like several big conglorates.
The latter seed unlikely, as the black robe acted alone, not showing signs of a setup with the conglorates, plus their n were currently battling them, clearly just aware of the black robe’s presence.
It’s impossible the black robe was driven by an overwhelming sense of justice, deeming the Nirvana Association evil, and hence went all out against them?
Impossible when you think about it.
Nobody would be that insane.
Hence.
It must be personal vengeance.
"The black robe must indeed be from Lening City, and if he had a grudge with the Nirvana Association... could it relate to the attack incident last week?"
"Very likely."
"Families or even friends of the deceased in the attack must be included on the investigation list."
"Moreover, today he entered a secret forum, reading posts for over an hour, focusing on the Nirvana Association. Perhaps his kin perished in a previous Nirvana operation, harboring hatred towards us, thus deceiving us to bring down vengeance."
"So, the focus can’t entirely stay on the attack victims’ families, other possibilities can’t be excluded entirely."
"In short, black robe, if you intend to go against the Nirvana Association, then prepare to die!"
"Instant teleportation, so what?"
"Your biggest advantage is hiding in the shadows; once we uncover your identity, there will be no place for you in the heavens or earth!"
