Kash:
"You better speak with her," my mother warned, and I nodded.
However, I had no intention of forcing Iris, because if she and my mother argued again and the kids sensed it, it would be bad.
I did not want my children around that kind of negativity, but I did not say it to my sister or my mother.
And that was what my sister seed to pick up.
"It is okay. I think he also thinks the sa," she murmured.
As soon as she said that, I frowned at her.
"What do you an?" I asked.
"I think most people do not want around their children because they know I cannot conceive. Won like are seen as a curse on young ones," she sniffled, and her complaints shook my heart.
My sister had been struggling to conceive ever since she got married, and now it had reached a point where she often scread and cried, asking why the moon goddess had not given her a child.
"Zoe, you know that is not the case, at least not with Iris. She is an educated woman, and you know she takes matters like this very seriously," I explained, but I could already tell my sister was not pleased.
"Well then, why did she react this way when I was trying to get closer to the kids? You should have been there. My husband was so surprised. I know nobody respects in your pack," she cried, covering her face with her hands.
"All that happened in front of Marcus?" I asked.
She nodded.
Zoe had a problem. She did not get along with her in-laws.
She said they claid that for soone related to an alpha king, she carried little grace and that people did not respect her.
Because of that, she constantly tried to show her in-laws, through her husband, that she was respected.
I knew it was all wrong, and I wanted to fix the situation my own way, but she refused.
Zoe had always been insecure. She had faced a lot of bullying as a child, and it shaped who she was.
I got up from the couch and sat beside her, wrapping my arm around her in a hug.
My mother pulled away, still not happy about my promise to ask Iris to let them et the children.
"I just thought that if others would not let be around their children, at least I could be around my brother’s children," she uttered, sniffling and wiping her eyes with the back of her hand.
"You are right," I told her. "You will be. I will speak with her, do not worry," I reassured her again.
"Like I told you, she has been anxious these days. But look, I am headed to her place right now, and I will speak with her about it, okay?" I said as I broke the hug and gently patted her head.
She looked hopeful.
I then stood up and walked back to my room to grab the blue box.
The mont I entered, I noticed sothing imdiately. There was nothing on the side table.
"What is this?" I complained as I reached for the drawers, checking everywhere.
In the next ten minutes, I practically turned my room upside down trying to find it, but the blue box was nowhere.
It started to get to . I began to panic because that box was important.
Since I could not find it, I stood beside the bed, trying to think about where I had placed it last.
"It was right here," my wolf stated.
His mory was sharp, and he spoke up so I knew he rembered where it had been.
"But it is not here," I replied, pointing at the bedside table.
"Exactly. But why is that?" he asked, making frown.
"Kash, that box was here. And nobody ca into our room. Except one person," my wolf murmured, and the pain in his voice ca from knowing what he was suggesting.
I shook my head.
"No, I do not believe that," I said before he could speak further about his suspicion.
"I do not want to believe it either, but who else could have gotten their hands on it?" he uttered, and again I shook my head, refusing to accept it.
"Maybe she accidentally dropped it sowhere when she was here," I suggested, and my wolf scoffed, sadness shaping his tone.
"You know what, it is fine. I will ask around. Maybe sobody else ca into the room. Maybe when she left, the door was open," I insisted, making up excuses.
"Fine then. I do not know why you are fooling yourself, but she ca here in the middle of the night and let us kiss her. She took the cure," my wolf grunted.
At this point, he sounded less upset and more disappointed and angry.
"No. You are suggesting she ca into my room, used her emotions to get close to , to kiss , to stir those feelings in again, only to steal sothing from ?" I asked him.
His silence struck , and worry began to rise inside .
"What if she got the cure and left like before?" he said, and urgency shot through my voice and my body.
"You know what? I can prove you wrong. So I will do that instead of arguing with you," I told my wolf as I rushed toward the living room.
My mother and sister were still there.
"Make sure you tell her that we want to see the kids," my mother voiced, but I did not stop.
Deep down, I knew I would go there and tell my wolf that she was still here.
As I expected, when I entered the guest house, I found her mother in the kitchen advising Scarlett to prepare sothing.
Instead of eting them or greeting them, I headed straight to Iris’s bedroom.
The door was half ajar, so I considered going in and asking if she was all right.
But there was not much ti for thinking.
I had already placed my hand on the door handle and stepped inside before realizing I should have knocked first.
I was about to walk back out in embarrassnt when I stopped.
Out of the corner of my eye, I saw sothing. Iris and Luca were in each other’s arms.
