Iris:

"Mommy, where are we going? Why did we take a plane? Are we going to be with Daddy again? He must be so upset."

My children had been asking questions for hours.

My mother had arranged a private jet for us. Of course she had. She had the ans. I had not been able to answer them.

Luca handled the children, speaking to them gently while I responded only now and then before turning my head to look out the window at the clouds.

"Kids, your mother is mourning," my mother remarked tiredly, holding a glass of wine.

"What is mourning?" Colin asked her. "Is it like a good morning?"

My mother rolled her eyes.

"Your mother is crying because your father got married to soone else," she replied.

I closed my eyes and clenched my fists. I lifted my head and gave my mother a sharp look.

"You have had enough fun with ," I said quietly.

I turned to my children. Their faces had gone pale.

Colin slipped out of his seat and stepped toward , cupping my face with both hands.

"Do not cry, Mommy," he told softly. "I do not like that woman. She did not even look very pretty as a bride."

Amy ca closer too.

"Daddy did not even look at us," she said. "You know what? I do not think I like Daddy very much anymore."

Tears gathered in her eyes.

"That is not true," I told her. "Your daddy loves you."

She shook her head, pressing her fingertips together.

"Daddy had other kids hold the rings and flowers," she said. "He did not look at us. I told everyone he would carry , smile at , and wave at . He did none of that."

She paused, her voice lowering.

"I think he really loves that bad aunt."

I wrapped my arms around both of them, holding them close.

"I cannot hate you more than this," Luca muttered to my mother, sitting back with his fist clenched near his temple, his eyes fixed on her.

"I saved them," my mother replied calmly. "They will be fine."

And as much as I hated to admit it, this was not only her fault. She had hurt , yes, but Kash had done his share of damage too. The bla did not belong to one person alone.

"Kids, we are going back ho," I told them. "And do not worry. This ti, we will not stay in one room or cut off from the world. We will live the life we deserve."

I clenched my jaw and forced a smile.

"And you know what?" I added. "Your mother is a princess."

"Really?" my children asked, their faces lighting up. "You are a princess?"

Before I could answer, my mother spoke.

"Hold on. Why are you making decisions for yourself?" she said. "Your children will stay in a separate compartnt. Let us not forget, they are children of werewolves."

My jaw tightened.

She was already showing who she truly was. Still, I smiled at her. That was not what was going to happen.

I intended to play the ga, just as she had played .

"I will see who dares stand between Iris and what she wants," Luca said firmly.

Each ti he took my side, my mother’s jaw clenched, her disappointnt clear.

After hours of travel and a day-long journey, we finally arrived.

As soon as our private jet landed, cars were waiting for us. Even then, we traveled for several more hours before reaching ho, or at least the place I had accepted as ho.

Warriors moved quickly around us, forming a protective circle as they led us inside the mansion. The dark walls closed in around once again.

I stepped into the main hall first. My father stood in the foyer with Luca’s father, his right-hand man, waiting for our arrival.

Jas stepped forward to hug Luca, pulling him into an embrace and patting his back. My mother rushed straight into my father’s arms.

I noticed how my father returned the gesture briefly, patting her back without holding her gaze. His eyes stayed on .

My mother pulled away and followed his line of sight. I knew I was in trouble, but I kept my expression controlled.

"Do not worry," my mother said confidently.

I had held onto hope while my father and I locked eyes, but the mont he nodded at her, it shattered. Still, I kept my spine straight.

"Take the children to their rooms. Freshen them up and feed them. We will have lunch first," my father ordered.

Two nannies stepped forward from the side, bowing their heads. They wore blue uniforms with white aprons.

"Please, Prince and Princess, this way," the nannies told my children.

"Oh, you do not need to use those titles," my mother said, but the nannies continued walking.

"I will go with them," I said, following my children up to the second floor.

My father’s orders were carried out imdiately. Food was brought directly to my children’s room.

Sothing felt off.

My children had been placed on the second floor, not in the back wing with . I was not allowed to stay in their room, so I could not be sure what was planned. Maybe it was temporary. Maybe they had simply been placed in the nearest beds.

Still, I made sure I was present when lunch was served.

I changed into a brown dress and went straight to the dining hall on the first floor, where Luca was sitting with us for the first ti. Usually, it had only been his father.

"Have a seat," my father said sternly.

I sat down and noticed that maids were standing behind my mother. My mother looked pleased, because this was where she believed she could control better.

"Please bring in the food for my lovely mate," my father said.

The maids stepped forward with trays, but there was only one they lowered first. They placed it directly in front of my mother.

The mont it ca into view, my mother gasped.

"What is this?" she scread, trying to get away.

She could not stand. The maids had ford a circle around her, not allowing her to slide her chair back.

There were eyes on the tray. Three pairs of eyeballs stared up at us.

"These are the eyeballs of the fighters who saw a princess, my daughter, naked," my father scread as he stood up and slamd his hand on the table, shocking not only my mother, but as well.
