Kash:
I grunted as the vines started to wrap around my legs. It was ti to show her I was not just so ordinary man she could control.
My claws ca out, and so did my canines. Then I slashed at the vines and used my claws to untangle them.
As I cut through them, I could see that she felt the pain. Scratches started to appear on her skin where I had cut the vines. She let out a scream of pain.
"No, I command you to stay here," she scread in her high-pitched voice.
The water behind her rose higher, rushing toward the shore. I turned and ran into the tunnel. Her screams followed through the passage, along with her final threat that she would co after .
"You think you will survive? You will never be able to get away from . Not ever. I will find you again, and I swear, this ti I will make sure that I fucking kill your stupid ass mate, and I will be the only one in your mind,"
She began to scream over and over. I did not stop. When I burst out on the other side, I bent forward with my hands on my knees.
I turned briefly, still bent down, and saw that the water no longer followed. My breathing was erratic. I stayed there for a mont, then raised one hand. The pearl rested in my palm.
"Sure, like she can co out of there," I muttered under my breath, giving the pearl pendant a small toss in my hand before catching it and slipping it into my wet pants pocket.
I walked down the road to the car and slipped inside, resting my head back.
Checking my phone, I realized it was out of battery.
I had been so anxious for the night that I forgot to charge it.
So here I was once again, heading back to the mansion with a pearl, but this ti the pearl was going to free my mate and from the ga I had been playing.
I drove back to the mansion and, once I parked, I looked up.
I raised my eyes to Lara’s bedroom window and saw her standing there with her hands on the railing, waiting for my arrival.
The minute she saw my car arrive, she ran inside, and I knew she was going to co out and bother now.
I waited silently, trying to compose myself before I stepped out.
Then I began walking toward the mansion’s main entrance.
Once I was inside the mansion, Lara hurried toward , almost slipping on the floor and landing against my chest as she hugged tightly.
"I’ve been waiting for you," she uttered before pulling away.
"Why are you all wet?" she asked with a small laugh, then wrapped her arms around again and lifted her head to look at my face.
"I took a swim," I replied as I slowly pulled her hands off and walked past her.
She stayed quiet for a mont, then followed after like a lost kitten.
"Where did you take a swim?" she questioned, moving quickly to catch up.
"In the river. Where else would I swim, Lara?" I responded a bit harshly.
She slowed down, probably expecting to change my tone like I had been doing with her, but this ti I did not.
"In your clothes? maybe you’re tired," she said, making an excuse for before walking after again and wrapping her arm around .
I pulled away quickly.
"Lara, I’m all wet. Let go change first. Don’t be so clingy all the ti."
It felt good to speak to her in that tone.
I watched her eyes widen.
Then I turned away from her and continued walking as if I did not care about her feelings.
"Kash, what is wrong with you? You have never been so rude to ," she asked as she followed onto the stairs.
I stopped and turned around to face her.
"That is because I’m fucking tired. I need to go change and then rest. Can’t I do that much?" I grunted, snapping at her so sharply that she could not respond.
I turned back around and took the stairs.
I could hear her coming after from her hurried footsteps.
"Yeah, I understand. I’m so sorry. You’re probably tired. And you have such big decisions to make. It’s all right. You can rest. Actually, I was waiting—"
She kept talking as I entered my room and slamd the door shut, probably hitting her nose because I heard her gasp and fall silent.
Once inside, I pulled the pendant out and stared at it in silence before placing it in the bag, securing it well and hiding it from anyone who might take it just to watch Iris suffer.
I had only taken off my shirt when a knock on the door made grunt loudly.
I knew who it was.
"What is it, Lara?" I almost scread, grabbing a towel and drying myself.
"I just need to ask you what is wrong with you," she muttered.
I stayed shirtless with the towel around my shoulders and walked over to open the door.
The minute I did, I saw her standing there with tears in her eyes.
"Do you know you have been very rude to and you have hurt my heart?" she mumbled, her lips trembling.
"Now co on, give a hug so that I can go and sleep in peace," she requested, raising her hands for a hug.
All I could think about was the tis she had belittled Iris.
"Lara, grow the fuck up and let be in peace for a while. You don’t have to co knocking on the door every ti you think I need to fix sothing I did wrong."
My words and tone were so harsh that her tears started to fall even faster.
"Now, please, good night. We will speak in the morning," I said, holding her hands and pushing them down before slamming the door shut again.
