Iris:
Since morning, Kash and I had been going around to different schools. I do not even rember how many we visited.
At the top school, my children got scared seeing so many students. So we decided to choose a smaller school, at least in the beginning.
Amy and Colin will need ti to adjust around other children. There is a reason for that.
For many years, when I lived with my family, we stayed in isolation. They were not even allowed to go outside freely.
Whenever we went anywhere, it was only the three of us. Even after coming here, they did not mix much with others.
Being around many children makes them anxious.
By the ti we returned ho, I was extrely tired. We decided Kash would go to work, and I would rest with the children.
There was kitchen work going on that day, so several people were moving in and out of the house.
I took the children to our room while Kash left for work again.
I had barely seen Lara since morning, only in passing. I heard from Lady Vivian that Lara was not feeling well and had a headache, so she was resting.
Zoe and Markus had gone out sowhere. Lara had arranged an afternoon outing for them.
I understood that Lara did not really care. She was doing all this to get closer to Zoe.
What I could not understand was why. What did she want from Zoe?
That question stayed in my mind.
I had just entered the room, and had helped my children change when I heard noise outside.
"You both stay here. I’ll go check," I told them.
I stepped out of the room and walked toward the sound. As soon as I reached the hallway, I heard loud shouting coming from the living room.
"Please don’t. Please leave ," Lady Vivian was saying to soone. Her voice sounded weak, almost frightened.
"What are you doing? Let go. Don’t you know I am the Alpha King’s Luna Queen, and I am carrying his child? If anything happens to , he will kill you all," Lara scread as masked n dragged her down the stairs.
For a mont, my heart felt like it stopped. Then I realized there were at least four n inside the mansion, and they were ard.
Suddenly, I heard glass shatter. It was the window of my bedroom.
My children started screaming.
"No!" I shouted and ran toward the bedroom.
I was so focused on getting there that I did not see the n coming from behind . Soone struck the back of my head.
Everything began to spin.
The next thing I felt was a sharp sting in my neck. Soone was injecting with sothing.
"Take the children away. It is the order of their grandmother from the East," voice yelled.
That was all I heard before darkness started to close in.
I rember my mother’s face.
How did they get into my mansion?
No matter how desperately I wanted to get inside and save my children, my vision had already begun to blur. I refused to pass out.
If I lost consciousness, I would have no idea what they did to my children.
So I forced myself onto my knees and began crawling forward. Every movent felt heavier than the last.
When I reached the door and pushed it open, I saw a man inside the bedroom. He was holding both of my children in his arms.
They struggled against him, screaming and crying, thrashing with all their strength.
"Not my children," I whispered, the words barely leaving my mouth.
"You shouldn’t have left. Not when your brother told you not to," the man behind murmured into my ear before chuckling.
"Take them away. They’re supposed to be taken to their family," he shouted.
My eyes began to grow heavy. My children were crying, reaching out for .
I stretched one arm toward them, desperate to touch them one last ti.
That was when I heard screaming from the side.
I turned my face toward the living room and saw Zoe rushing inside.
"What the hell?" she shouted as her claws ca out.
"Zoe, let’s go," Markus called from behind her.
He did not look ready to fight. It seed like he had followed her to stop her, not to join her.
I watched Zoe lunge at the n, her claws extended as she began to transition.
The mont she attacked, Markus stepped in as well, moving to protect her.
Everything started fading after that.
I fell to the side, but I still tried to push myself forward.
"Markus, get everyone out of the mansion. I’ll take Iris and keep her safe," I heard Zoe say while I lay on my side, my vision slowly blurring.
"No, Zoe. Soone is still hiding in the mansion. Let the warriors co in and deal with him," Markus argued.
"Markus is right. Why would you risk your life for Iris? At least the children are safe," Lady Vivian added.
I was lying cold on the floor while they said all of this in front of .
"Yeah, Zoe, let’s go. We need to save ourselves. The guards will co and see if they can save Iris," Lara said.
That was when I realized my fate was in the hands of people who had never liked .
As I lay there, my body began to twitch slightly. I could not even transition.
Whatever they had injected into was not wolfbane or silver. It was simply a strong sedative.
The only thing I had managed to hear was that my children were safe. I had no expectations from any of them.
"Co on, Zoe," Markus urged, probably trying to pull her away.
I understood they were just trying to get her out of there.
I heard footsteps moving away, and then for a mont, everything went quiet.
Then I heard her voice.
"No. Iris is my responsibility. She is my brother’s life. I can’t leave her here. She’s my sister-in-law. How can I abandon my own family?" Zoe insisted.
I heard her footsteps again.
Then I felt her grab my hand and try to pull up onto my feet.
