Lara:
I sent my father a text asking him to send his trusted n to look for the two brats. At the sa ti, I returned ho with a severe headache. I was scared I had overexerted myself.
Thankfully, Lady Vivian asked Kash to check on . The minute he entered my room, he began searching for the dicines the doctor had given earlier.
"Can you please sit with ? I would like to speak with you about sothing," I whispered softly, trying to make him stay in the room.
Not because I knew sothing or thought sothing would happen, but because I knew it would cause Iris anxiety. And since I was anxious, I wanted her to feel anxious too at tis.
"About what?" Kash asked, barely looking up from the ground.
"Try to drink this milk and eat these fruits. I do not think you should be taking dicines like they are candies," he added.
Then he walked toward the door and gestured for the maids to bring warm milk. Warm milk always helped . At least he rembered.
"It is funny how you still rember what brings comfort," I remarked.
The mont I said that, I noticed a slight twitch in his body, as if he regretted letting his caution slip toward .
"You do not have to try so hard to look like you do not care about ," I comnted, rubbing my ring finger where the ring he had given rested.
"Lara, what is it that you want to talk about?" he asked again, this ti in an even more bored tone.
"Can you please sit down, and then we can talk? It causes anxiety because it feels like I need to rush my words, like you are ready to leave," I explained, telling him why I wanted him to sit.
Kash always looked for authentic reasons, but that was not the case with Iris. I had noticed it. She would ask him to sit, and he would sit. She would ask him to stand, and he would stand.
It was not easy for to co to terms with the fact that she was more important than I could ever be. Truly, it hurt a lot. Yet here I was, asking him to sit down.
He looked around with his hands on his face, as if thinking about sothing. Then he finally dragged a chair next to the bed. As he lowered himself into it, I let out a deep breath of relief. At least I was getting sowhere.
"What is it?" he asked.
One hand rested on his waist, and with the other, he held a coin, rolling it between his fingers with smooth precision.
"That whole thing with Luca, did anything co out of it?" I began in a soft and gentle tone, as if I were worried about our welfare and everyone around us.
He tilted his head slightly and raised an eyebrow, staring at before shaking his head.
"He has denied taking part in the kidnapping," Kash responded, and I felt agitation rise inside .
Luca had gone out of his way to follow to this motel and abduct the children. I could not understand why he had done it. Was he working for soone?
Only one na surfaced in my mind.
Iris.
She was doing this behind my back. She was trying to get rid of . That was why she claid she had asked Kash to make stay here, because she had a distant plan for .
She wanted to make sure I stayed here and got caught in sothing so ridiculous that next ti, there would be no way I could ever return. It was the sa as what I was planning for her, but she was evil for doing this to while I was pregnant.
"And what about Iris?" I asked.
The mont I said her na, Kash frowned at .
"What does Iris have to do with it?" he asked, his tone turning defensive.
"No, I just want to know if she believes he is innocent or not. At the end of the day, they are friends, and I do not think she will be happy if you accuse her friend of anything," I replied.
That was all I said before I saw Kash clench his jaw.
"They are no longer friends, and it does not matter what she says. I know he did it, and he will be punished for it," he stated firmly.
Thankfully, Kash did not let Iris’s sweet face or their past relationship cloud his judgnt this ti. That was a good start. I was impressed and hopeful.
"I just hoped Luca would admit his fault so none of us would have to live in fear of Iris and her family. Soone had to speak. Luca had to tell us what they told him that made him commit such a heinous act," I began to yap my heart out to Kash.
"Kash, Iris was not the only one in that mansion. Your family and I were there too. Your mother. Your sister. And trust when I say this, they were not gentle with us. Their entire mission was to take Iris and the children to the east. They were never told not to harm us in the process. We could have been collateral damage."
As I spoke, I gently pressed my hand to my belly and watched Kash look at it. I noticed his jaw tighten, as if he were slowly registering everything.
"Nothing will happen to anyone under my protection," he grunted.
Then he leaned forward, his elbows resting on his thighs, his hands clasped, his body hunched.
"Do not worry. Nothing will happen to any of you. I promise," he whispered.
He straightened as the maid arrived.
"Please feed her well and make sure she rests," Kash instructed the maid.
I imdiately shook my head. It had been so long since he had sat down with to talk. I was not going to let this mont end.
If I had to sleep, it would be him who put to sleep.
"Can you please stay here with until I finish these fruits and milk? Then I will rest after taking the pills," I requested.
Once again, Kash seed lost in thought. Then he took a deep breath and nodded.
"Fine," he agreed.
That surprised . Maybe whatever had happened at the station had already left a scar between Iris and Kash, and I was going to take full advantage of it.
