When I arrived ho, Markus was in the backyard smoking. Kash and I saw him, but we did not bother him. I guessed Kash was really ashad that his wife had done that to him.
Lady Vivian was anxiously waiting in the living room. The traumatic part was that both the children were sleeping on the couches.
I assud that was why she was sitting there, keeping an eye on them.
The mont we entered the living room, my mood soured at the sight of the kids. They were so dramatic.
If they were that tired, they could have gone to their room and slept, but no. They had to act as if they were completely alone without their mother.
Lady Vivian instantly stood up and reached for Kash, but her eyes dropped to the papers in his hand.
"I’ll be in my room," Kash uttered, rolling the papers and slipping them into the back pocket of his coat before leaning down to pick up Amy and Colin from the couch.
"I asked them to go to their room. They were not listening. They kept asking about you," Lady Vivian told Kash, explaining the children’s anxiety.
I could tell she was biting her tongue, hiding the fact that they were probably asking for Iris. But we were not supposed to do anything that would make Kash bring Iris back for the children. She was gone for good.
"It’s alright. They will have to learn to adjust. Their father will be with them," Kash responded, lifting Amy onto one shoulder and resting Colin on the other arm, making him sleep against his other shoulder.
Then he turned and looked at .
"And I’m sure I have my other mate, who will never disappoint ," he said.
A big smile spread across my lips, and I nodded happily.
"I will never disappoint you," I confird with a smile.
He stared at for a mont before walking away.
Once he left, I released a deep breath and sighed in relief. Then my eyes landed on Lady Vivian, and I straightened my posture again.
"He was so anxious and angry. I was scared around him," I instantly explained, justifying why I had been acting so happy.
"Oh, sorry," I said, then changed my tone, sounding concerned.
Lady Vivian watched my face in silence before shaking her head and rubbing her hands together anxiously. I approached her and gently rubbed her arm to comfort her, and sohow she broke down. Real tears began to stream from her eyes.
"She’s so broken," she complained.
I kept rubbing her arm while glancing at the ceiling, wondering when this whole thing would end. It would be too much if we now had to help Zoe feel better.
"I understand everything, but why is she crying like that? Her husband is the victim," I said.
As soon as I said that, Lady Vivian pulled slightly away so she could look at my expression.
"Yes, but another woman forced herself on him," Lady Vivian replied, trying to defend her daughter’s tears. "I’m not saying he’s at fault, but even if her husband is a victim, it still hurts her that he went through all that. And the sa woman responsible for it was soone my daughter was innocently helping by taking care of her children and giving her relief."
The way Lady Vivian said those words made think about her tone and what Zoe must be thinking at that mont. If she was that angry, then she was probably no longer as attached to Iris’s children as she used to be.
It did not matter. She was going to leave anyway.
"Yes, but you need to speak with Zoe and tell her that if she keeps crying, it will hurt her husband. She needs to spend more ti with him. Alone ti with him. You see, it all happened under our roof, so it will look as if the Alpha King’s family could not even protect their own son-in-law. That is a very bad look. And Zoe is acting as if she is upset because he cheated on her. That is not the case," I said quickly, shifting the narrative and subtly scaring her with how the public might react if they found out what had happened to Markus.
Lady Vivian’s face showed she was beginning to realize that what I was saying was not entirely wrong.
"I’ll speak with Zoe. Thank you so much for always being there for us. But tell again, what were those papers with Kash, and what happened when he left Iris in the prison room?" she asked.
I knew she would ask those questions. Now she was watching my face carefully. Tears were still on her cheeks, leaving faint trails down her skin.
"Well, he was really angry with Iris. I was so scared that I did not even get out of the car. But at the sa ti, he was very affectionate toward ," I replied.
As I recalled those monts, a smile threatened to form on my lips, but this was not the ti. Lady Vivian was crying for her son and daughter, and I did not want to seem insensitive.
"And then Kash left her there. In return, he collected the divorce papers, the custody docunts, and Iris’s punishnt order," I declared, watching Lady Vivian’s mouth part slightly before she swallowed. That small reaction was enough. She knew I understood what she wanted to ask.
"It is fifty-six lashes," I said.
The mont I said that, a sharp yelp escaped Lady Vivian’s lips.
"Isn’t it too much? After all, she is soone’s daughter too," I don’t know why Lady Vivian said those words. Her concern for Iris angered in the mont.
We were still standing there when Kash walked out, wearing the sa clothes, but the files were back in his hands. I could see a signature on them.
His mother noticed it too because she made direct eye contact with .
"Where is Zoe?" Kash asked his mother.
She dramatically lowered her head.
"She is not feeling well. Your wife has ruined her peace. She has been crying nonstop," Lady Vivian said, listing all the things that explained the pain Zoe was going through.
As she spoke, I watched Kash grow angrier with every passing second. I realized she was doing the right thing. She was hitting all the right spots.
