Lara:

I slept in the side room once again. Kash always said he didn’t want to get intimate before marriage.

It was getting drier now. I really wanted his intimacy, but I didn’t understand why he insisted against the idea and for us to wait for our marriage.

We’d been intimate before, especially when we first started dating.

Back then, we were always all over each other.

But after we broke up and got back together, he almost never initiated anything.

And when I did, he would stop halfway. We never had sex.

I understood. I really didn’t bother him when he was at war with West.

I tried to stay calm, reminding myself it was okay, he wanted to focus on the war.

But now he was back.

It had been more than a month, and it didn’t seem like he was even thinking about getting intimate with .

Sotis I wondered if it was because Iris was back. But I would shake the thought away.

The only reason would have to be that if he cared about her, he wouldn’t have let in the first place.

That’s what my father used to tell as well.

Even today, he sent a ssage, telling I needed to work on my relationship with Kash more.

I knew my father had tried to call off the engagent, but that was just his way of sparking sothing between us.

I knew he adored Kash. He was obsessed with Kash’s power, the strongest alpha king ever.

But for , even if Kash had no power, I’d still be with him.

I just loved the idea of being in love with him.

I got up, took a shower, and got ready in the most beautiful white bodycon dress.

But when I left my room, a maid told Kash had already left for work.

And this ti, I didn’t even know where he was going. I just knew he had gone.

"Lara, why don’t you co have breakfast with us?" Zoe’s voice called from the dining room as I walked past the living room.

I wanted to curse myself inwardly. Why the hell was she awake so early?

Zoe usually slept for hours. She was a lazy woman.

I didn’t like her. I didn’t like Kash’s family.

His mother was so freaking annoying, and I knew she wasn’t innocent either.

She used to speak badly of Iris, always complaining to after Iris ran away, calling her a terrible daughter-in-law.

I wondered if she was going to give a hard ti too.

But I didn’t say anything to her face.

I was just waiting to officially beco Kash’s wife and the Luna Queen.

And the first thing I planned to do was make him get rid of his family.

They were leeches, mooching off him, especially that annoying sister and her useless husband, living luxuriously on Kash’s hard-earned money.

"Oh, it’s okay. I intend to take a little walk first, catch so fresh air," I said, forcing a fake smile.

As I walked away, I noticed the way Markus passed , staring.

I hated this man. One day, I would carve his eyes out of his skull for looking at with that much lust in them.

I had noticed his eyes. They were dirty. His intentions weren’t pure.

But I hadn’t complained to Kash yet. There was a ti for everything.

I would act once I beca his wife. I couldn’t play all my cards right now.

As soon as I stepped outside, I began to breathe in the fresh air.

Being in the sa air as Kash’s family felt suffocating.

Every breath felt like I was inhaling sothing toxic, maybe even a poisonous gas.

I noticed Kash was the only one whose car wasn’t in the driveway, while all the other cars were parked outside the guesthouse.

I began to wonder, did he go out for work alone, or did he take that low-life bitch with him?

Curiosity struck my nerves, and before I could stop myself, I was already headed toward the guesthouse.

As I walked, my breasts jiggled, and I noticed eyes on .

I hated it.

I was dressing for myself, and for Kash, not for these low-life scums.

Once I entered the guesthouse, I knocked on the open door, trying to be as polite as possible.

That was who I was, a daughter of an Alpha King of the South, unlike Iris.

She ca from so rogue woods, probably with nothing to eat as a child.

And then there was , a princess.

I had to visibly show the difference in our upbringing.

"Co in."

Iris’s mother walked out, holding a magazine.

Her eyes landed on , and I saw a spark.

I expected her to yell at , not be happy to see the woman standing at her door, the woman practically responsible for her daughter’s marriage ending.

But she smiled. A smile so genuine and welcoming that even Lady Vivian hadn’t offered the sa.

"Good morning. I hope I’m not bothering you," I greeted, walking inside when she gestured for to enter.

"Of course not. Please have a seat," she said kindly.

I sat down on the couch beside her, feeling slightly weirded out.

The woman was gorgeous. I could see where Iris had gotten her looks, but she looked distinctly royal, which confused .

Even her mannerisms were different. The way she sat and carried herself suggested high upbringing.

Maybe she had studied royal culture, so won get obsessed with royals and take inspiration from them.

"I’m Lara," I introduced myself.

"I know. I’m Iris’s mother. You can call Clarissa," she replied, gesturing to a woman nearby to bring us wine glasses.

"Isn’t it too early to have alcohol?" I asked, laughing lightly.

"Oh no, it’s fine. So mythical creatures have a glass of wine first thing in the morning. It keeps them from overusing their strength."

The way she spoke, so elegantly, and her knowledge about mythical creatures struck .

But what did she an about using alcohol to avoid using full strength?

She was probably just a rogue, maybe even an oga.

What kind of strength was she talking about?

The woman she had gestured to returned with two glasses of wine.

The wine itself was exquisite. I held the glass and gave her a nod.

"That is Scarlett. She’s my assistant and also the live-in nanny for the children," Lady Clarissa explained, making nod in acknowledgnt.

Scarlett walked away to tend to the kids, while I straightened my back and looked at Lady Clarissa.

"I don’t see Iris around," I asked, trying to find out where she might be.

"Oh, don’t you know?" Lady Clarissa’s tone shifted subtly, sending chills up my spine.

"Your boyfriend ca early this morning to take her with him for a visit. She left with him," she said.

And that was enough to make my breath catch in my throat.
