Iris:
I began to step toward the mansion briskly, afraid my mother would wake Wilson again.
Colin had faced enough pain earlier. He did not need to go through it once more.
I was determined to get the cure from Kash.
As I approached the mansion, I saw the guards outside, and for a brief mont I rembered the ti I had sat outside after being kicked out of his mansion.
I did not know how long these flashbacks would continue.
When no one seed to acknowledge how traumatizing it had been for , I kept speaking about it.
However, instead of stopping as I had expected the warrior to do, he allowed to go inside.
I thought maybe it was because Kash was already attentive to my son’s condition, our son’s condition, and because he had told to co straight to him if Colin began to show another side effect.
I entered the mansion with the dread of running into Zoe or Kash’s mother.
But in the back of my mind, I knew that if they were the sa as before, they would already be in their bedrooms.
Thankfully, when I stepped into the living room, I noticed it was empty.
I moved quickly toward Kash’s room, and once I reached it, I stord inside instead of knocking.
I was so scared and panicking so much that I forgot basic manners.
The mont I opened the door and stepped inside, I realized I had made a mistake.
But it was too late. Kash stood with his back toward , shirtless, wearing only his shorts.
It seed he had already taken a shower. When he shook his head, the water droplets landed on , and I yelped.
He turned around and stared at while I awkwardly looked away.
"I am so sorry. I should not have co here," I yelped, realizing the situation we were in.
At least he did not seem bothered.
"It’s okay. You should have apologized if you were two minutes late. One minute even," he remarked.
I looked back at him and noticed his abs. He had been muscular before, but now he looked far stronger.
Years of war would do that to soone. I swallowed hard and looked away again.
I expected him to put on a shirt quickly, but since I was in his bedroom, I knew I was not in a place to make demands.
"The uncertainty in your voice tells this is not about Colin," he observed, noticing I was not in a panicking state yet.
"Yeah, it’s just that I wanted to co and thank you," I uttered, my eyes drifting to the side of the bed where the box sat. My heart began thumping harder in my chest.
"You ca here to thank for taking care of my own son?" he asked, making realize how foolish I sounded.
"But now that you said it like that, it does sound ridiculous," I replied anxiously, stepping forward and then stepping back again.
"What is it? You don’t seem all right. Is there anything else you want to talk about?" he questioned, placing his hands on his waist.
I did not want to keep looking at his body because I could not stop thinking about what my mother had told to do.
And with him standing in front of , looking like a beast and very attractive, I feared mistakes might happen.
But if they did not happen, how would I get my hands on the box?
"I was just feeling lonely," I forced myself to say.
I did not want to use him, but I had no other choice.
To convince myself, I reminded myself that he had once used too, then pushed out of his life as if I ant nothing.
"Are you okay?" Kash asked, strolling toward in those slow steps that had once made fall for him.
He touched the tips of his fingers to my cheek before placing his whole hand there to check for a fever.
"Your body is heating up," he murmured. "I’ll get your dicine."
As soon as he said that and I bit my bottom lip, he stopped moving away.
I guessed he sensed it was not a fever causing the heat in my body.
Seeing him in front of and knowing I could not let certain thoughts interfere made sothing inside react strangely toward him.
And he noticed it too.
He began to step back toward . This ti, I stepped back as well, moving away from him in a way that felt more like playfulness than rejection.
When he finally reached and my back t the door, he placed his hands on the door beside and leaned down.
"What do you wish for?" he whispered.
I could not utter a word. I knew I only had to ask him for the dicine, but I could not bring myself to speak.
I stood there silently, taking slow, steady breaths.
And sowhere along the line, he must have realized what I wanted, because he leaned down and pressed his lips against mine very gently.
His lips stayed against mine for a few silent seconds, likely waiting for my reaction, and once he realized I was not pulling away, he pressed harder.
My hand moved to the back of his head on its own.
From the way I drew him closer, he must have understood that I wanted his intimacy.
His lips moved against mine, sucking my upper lip before going to my bottom one, making my lips respond in the sa way.
His hands slid to my back, and as soon as he pressed there, I broke the kiss.
Our eyes t for a brief mont before he reached for the switch and turned off the lights.
Then he pressed his lips to mine again.
This ti, we kissed with intensity, our breaths mixing as we answered each other’s movents.
I noticed the urgency in his touch. His lips moved firmly against mine.
He was trying to take as much of the kiss as he could, and I was trying to match him completely.
