Aria’s POV
Nathan’s walked in with his powerful alpha aura. The mont his eyes locked onto Blake... and then ... the world went silent.
Reporters held their breath. Even my wolf stirred uneasily..
Nathan’s scent hit like a mory I didn’t want.
He stopped in front of Blake without a word. The darkness rolling off him made my skin prickle. His wolf’s dominance was unmistakable.
“Are you here to cause trouble at the Hemsworth Group?” he asked the gang leader.
Nathan wore no emotion, no warmth. Just cold, terrifying Alpha steel.
The gang leader trembled. I could scent his fear spiking frantically. He tried to speak but choked on his own breath.
Nathan lazily rolled the ring on his finger. “Take them away. Hand them to the enforcers.”
Collins flicked his fingers. The bodyguards moved instantly, dragging the troublemakers off like they weighed nothing.
Employees scattered. Passersby disappeared.
Only a few reporters remained... until Nathan turned his gaze on them.
“All videos and photos must not be retained. Any leaks will be pursued legally.”
His voice was unchallengeable. They imdiately obeyed knowing a man like Nathan never made empty threats.
Collins checked through their caras just to be sure. I watched the so-called fearless dia folded like frightened pups. Monts ago they were circling like vultures; now they had deleted everything with trembling hands.
Very typical. I sneered inwardly. This was all so predictable... and boring.
I turned to leave.
But then his cold voice stopped like a chain in my ankle—
“Wait.”
I frowned, lifting my gaze to et his dark, unreadable eyes. For one breath, sothing flickered in them but it was gone before I could na it.
Then he shifted his attention to Rowland.
“Top floor,” he ordered. “You too, Rowland.”
His tone hit wrong. It was sharp and commanding, as if I was still soone who belonged under his authority.
But I didn’t belong to him anymore or so J liked to think.
The rebellious spark I thought I’d buried flared up, hot and fierce.
I turned to walk away but Nathan was faster.
Before I could take another step, his hand wrapped around my wrist, pulling into his chest. It was Hard and sudden. My head bumped against him, and his scent enclosed like a thunderstorm, that Alpha aura that once made lt.
Now it only made my wolf bristle.
Collins, sensing the rising tension, rushed forward. “Luna Aria, although I checked all equipnt carefully, I cannot guarantee soone didn’t hide sothing. They might even want to make more videos. Please return upstairs with Alpha Nathan.”
My thoughts churned.
Nathan wanted upstairs... not because he cared... but because he didn’t want anything fild.
Careful, controlled Nathan, always thinking five steps ahead. I shot him a cold glare and yanked my wrist free. “I’ll walk myself.”
I strode ahead without waiting.
Rowland imdiately fell into step behind , his protective presence brushing against my senses like a loyal packmate.
I glanced back briefly, Nathan remained still, his hand clenched at his side. His gaze sharpened as though a storm was brewing.
Francis took a step forward as if to follow, but Nathan blocked him with a heavy look. My ears picked on his words.
“Thank you for the case file,” Nathan said. “But this is a family matter. You are excused.”
Francis froze, his jaw tightening. He shot a worried look but didn’t push it. He only typed a ssage:
Call if you need anything. I’ll co pick you up.
I imdiately replied. I will, thanks for everything Francis.
Then he left.
*****
Nathan’s office slled the sa as always; cedar, smoke, and the faint edge of Alpha dominance that made the wolf inside bristle. Rowland and I sat side-by-side on the couch, close enough that our shoulders almost touched.
I hadn’t even noticed the small gap between us... but Nathan had. His gaze was fixed on it with a dark, simring irritation I could feel like heat against my skin.
My wolf huffed. He notices everything when it cos to you, just not the things that matter.
Nathan’s deep voice finally cut through the tense air. “Rowland. What are you doing at Hemsworth Group?”
Rowland lazily tugged at his bow tie, lounging like he had no care in the world. “I was just passing by.”
I felt Nathan’s aura tighten, sending a ripple of pressure across the room. Even my wolf’s ears twitched.
“Just passing by?” he repeated, his voice dripping with sarcasm. “Your hotel is halfway across Asterfell from here. Passing through... where? The moon?”
Rowland shot a sideways glance. I kept my expression neutral, not willing to get dragged into their testosterone-fueled territory fight.
Nathan’s jaw ticked. He hates that Rowland is near , my wolf whispered smugly.
Rowland shrugged, unbothered. “Uncle Nathan, I’ve been in Asterfell long enough. What is wrong with strolling near your company?”
Nathan’s expression soured further. I could practically imagine his wolf pacing, growling, snapping in jealousy.
He acts like I’m his property. I ntally rolled my eyes. We’re not even really together anymore, not emotionally, at least.
Nathan’s thoughts must have snapped, because the next thing I knew, he stood, crossed the room, and swept off the couch, lifting straight into his arms.
“What—Nathan!”
I barely got the words out. My heart lurched; even my wolf yelped at the sudden closeness.
By the ti I realized what happened, I was already seated in his lap, locked tightly against him.
Rowland shot up instantly, his wolf instincts reacting before he could stop himself. His eyes flashed amber as if ready to fight.
“Uncle Nathan...” Rowland said through clenched teeth.
Nathan cut him off icily.
“I’m holding my wife. Rowland, what exactly are you trying to say?”
