Aria’s POV

When I dropped the call, I sat down on the bed nd thought about everything for a while, then I went to the kitchen where Kara was cooking.

As she cooked, I spoke. “I need you with tomorrow. To the Darvin family.”

Kara froze. “The sa Darvin family you cut ties with? The ones who chose an adopted daughter over their own blood?”

I nodded, my jaw tight.

“I got a call from my father” I said, my voice low, dangerous. “He inford to co to the hospital and donate blood to Sophia, my adopted sister. He threatened to destroy my late grandmother’s belongings if I do not do as he has said.”

My wolf snarled in my chest.

“That’s insane!” Kara slamd a hand on the table. “You shouldn’t be forced to do sothing you do not want to do!”

“Exactly” I replied.

“I want my grandmother’s belongings,” I added. “They’re mine. She left them to . I won’t let them trade them for my blood. But I won’t leave them in that house either.”

Kara breathed out, steadying herself. “If they won’t hand them over...”

“I’ll take them.”

My wolf bared its teeth in agreent.

“Alright, I will help you”. Kara said, her tone softened further. “You know... you don’t have to do everything alone. Alpha Rowland... Alpha Jonathan... they can also help.”

Heat prickled up my neck. My wolf huffed. Not them.

“I’m married, Kara,” I muttered.

“You deserve soone who actually shows up,” she said mildly, stepping out of the kitchen.

I stood there, thinking about what she had said. I shook my head. This was my cross to carry, they have done so much for already, I wouldn’t put them through more of my issues.

At noon the next day, I was in my room with Lana. She had just woken up from sleep.

“Mama,” she mumbled, rubbing her eyes. “Lana dream... bad sister.”

The room went cold. I knew exactly who she ant. It was Sophia. My wolf’s hackles rose.

I held my pup close, breathing her in, letting her heartbeat soothe the rage clawing through .

“I’ve got you, Lana,” I whispered. My voice was a vow, a spell, a battle cry. “Mama loves you. Mama will protect you. Always.”

“Lana, Mom won’t ever let you go through that again,” I whispered, rubbing small circles on her back. My voice was soft and soothing.

My pup nuzzled closer in my arms, a tiny whimper rumbling in her chest as her eyelashes fluttered. My wolf responded, instinctively humming through our bond, calming her until her breathing finally evened out.

When night ca, I couldn’t sleep.

Every ti I closed my eyes, the scene replayed...the scene of the day Lana, my pup was hard and hospitalized.

I drew in a deep breath. I had exacted my revenge on Sophia, but deep down, I still feel it was not enough.

I hadn’t beaten her so much, yet sohow Sophia had landed in the hospital claiming I’d beaten her into critical condition. Critical condition? My wolf scoffed. If I had truly let her taste my wrath, there would be nothing left but shattered bones and a scent trail.

I tossed, turned, then sat up abruptly. The room was suffocating. With a sigh, I flicked on the light.

Sothing about the hospital report gnawed at . I had obtained it through Rowland’s help. He had co to et earlier today and I briefed him on the phone call I got from my father yesterday and then I asked him to do so digging about Sophia’s current health status at the hospital.

There was sothing about the result that still gives the chills. Sophia was just the adopted daughter. AB blood is rare, yes. But the nurses whispered that she reacted badly to most AB types. And Patrick swore mine would work. He seed guaranteed.

My wolf’s ears perked at the thought. Why? Why my blood? Why only mine?

There was a connection I wasn’t seeing.

With a frustrated growl, I pushed the thought away and focused on tomorrow. I would go to the Darvin family estate, and take back my grandmother’s belongings.

Just as I reached for my phone to shut it off, it buzzed.

I checked and it was Rowland.

Aria! Sophia’s been discharged!

I blinked. Discharged? From “near death” to discharged in less than 48 hours? My wolf snorted. That was so pathetic bluff.

More ssages poured in.

Had people investigate, it turned out she wasn’t dying. It was just her period. Darvin family skulked ho in sha.

A twinge of secondhand embarrassnt crawled up my spine. It was a good thing she wasn’t sick because if she truly was, taking my grandmother’s things back would be harder.

I typed a simple Thanks and dropped the phone.

Morning arrived too fast.

When I stepped out, Kara was already at the door, wearing helt, pads, elbow guards...looking like a warrior about to storm a fortress.

I blinked. “Kara... what exactly are you wearing?”

“We’re going to the Darvin family,” she said, patting the helt. “Preparation is key.”

A laugh escaped , unexpected and light. I reached up and unbuckled the helt. “We’re going to claim what’s ours, not rob a bank.”

Kara frowned. “They are the sa thing, no difference.”

She wasn’t wrong. As soon as Rowland ca to the house to stay with Lana, we left. He was the only one I could trust with her at the mont

Outside, a car was already waiting. The window lowered.

“Ready to go?”

Alia asked.

I nodded. “Let’s go.”

I had also reached out to Alia for help and she obliged. I had her prepare legal docunts incase we ran into trouble.

As the cab pulled away, my wolf stared ahead, ears forward, anticipation rippling through our shared blood. The Darvin estate lood ahead. Asterfell sunlight glinting like the sharpened teeth of a predator.

I was coming ho, not to stay, but reclaim what is rightfully mine.
