Now reading: Chapter 406: Act 121 Final Battle (9)(Part 2) from Amber Sword, a Game novel by Crimson Flame.

The Silver Elf Commander took off his golden pointed helt. He shook his head, letting his beautiful silver hair flow down like a waterfall, and then exhaled deeply. His pale silver eyes looked coldly at the chaotic battlefield, where Lizardman corpses lay scattered among the ruins, and blood flowed like small streams, trickling along the ground. The air was filled with the pungent sll of blood, enough to make most normal people nauseous, but to the blood-soaked Elf Warriors, it was the scent of victory wafting through the air.

No, it was far from victory.

Yohkel had fled, and his subordinates wanted to pursue him, but Nanis stopped them. The Silver Elf Commander sheathed his gilded and intricately carved Command Sword and then signaled to the others to gather up and prepare for the next action. His orders were decisive and precise, leaving no room for hesitation.

anwhile, he had already seen Hu Que approaching from the other end of the battlefield with another group of elves.

It wasn’t the first ti Hu Que had seen Nanis, but he still couldn’t help being slightly stunned. Nanis, after a blood-soaked battle, exuded an astonishing beauty. He always appeared sowhat too effeminate, but the bloodstains on his golden armor created an unsettling contrast. Combined with the Silver Elves’ traditional silver hair and his cold expression, it made him eerily attractive.

"Commander," Hu Que was briefly surprised but quickly recovered, "The battle here is over."

"Yes," Nanis nodded.

He turned around, and the grey banner in the direction of the Festival Hall was still flying high, but no one knew the exact state of the battle there.

"But it’s far from a victory," Nanis replied, "We will return as planned imdiately. Hopefully, your Lord can truly keep his promise and isn’t just playing with his life."

"Wait," Hu Que interrupted him, "That wasn’t the original order from the Lord."

Nanis looked down at him from above.

"You saw that creature too. Even in our pri, it would take at least three of us to not be at a disadvantage against it. Do you truly believe your Lord can hold it off for more than half an hour?" The Silver Elf Commander asked coldly, "Captain, my criterion for judging the battlefield is to ultimately win. In the fight against the Dark Dragon, there can be no room for rcy."

"But..."

"I don’t have ti to discuss with you. I’m simply informing allied forces of our actions as a formality," the Elf Commander replied, "Or to put it another way, Miss Antitina or your Lord—whom do I see as more crucial in this battle? The latter, by far. Which side do you choose?"

Hu Que fell silent, glancing involuntarily in the direction where Antitina was.

Nanis shook his head, "Alright, human, I’ll explain sothing extra: disha gave her life for that reason. It might seem unfathomable to you, but in our history, forgiving oneself is to abandon hope for tomorrow. I hope you understand this." Then he whispered, "In fact, I have privately sought Miss Antitina’s consent on this matter."

With that, he straightened up and waved his hand.

"Phoenix Guard, prepare to move out!"

...

As expected by Nanis and Hu Que, Antitina’s first command in battle didn’t go smoothly. With no defensible position, the Lizardn quickly breached the first outer wall. With no clear obstacles, the rcenaries were exposed to the enemy crossbown’s range, making it difficult to form an effective counterattack even from a distance.

But at that mont, the iron will of the Rubis rcenaries was unmistakable. Facing an enemy force nearly thirty tis their number, the three rcenaries on the outermost line lost and regained their positions three tis. The Lizardn’s attack was so dense that Antitina’s twice-ordered reinforcents were intercepted en route. Finally, the last surviving rcenary detonated his only Dissolution Crystal, causing the highest casualties among the Lizardn since the battle began in that direction:

Nearly fifteen Lizardn fell on the inclined slope between the first and second outer walls.
