The stone shield was ford by the assembly of small hexagonal stone slabs, one of the strongest passive skills of the Earth Envoy—’Rock Shield’. These rocks were made from the sturdiest granite, with three layers from top to bottom, each over six centiters thick. As long as any physical attack entered within a one-ter range of Eckn, this shield would automatically activate, making it impossible for a regular physical attack to harm this monster in the slightest.
But Ecco was obviously unaware of this. His sword was blocked, and he imdiately realized sothing was wrong. It was too late to retreat.
The Earth Envoy swung backhandedly, the petrified limb creating a sharp wind blade, and countless stone fragnts swept past, forming a second attack. Ecco thought he was dood, but at that mont, he felt soone crash into him with great force, and they both flew to the side. The young man hit the ground with a thud, groaning in pain. He opened his eyes in surprise, just in ti to see the Earth Envoy’s strike miss its mark.
He turned his pale face to see Brand climbing up from the other side, and imdiately realized what had happened. In a daze, he quickly expressed his gratitude, "Thank you..."
"Hell!"
Brand silently cursed, wasting another charge skill. Though this guy was better than the likes of Macaro and Bujia and had a decent heart, he was still a headstrong fool. Brand wondered how Macaro managed to educate this son of Duke Lune, as it seed a complete failure in educating a noble.
The young man couldn’t know Brand’s thoughts. Seeing Brand’s silence, he assud he was considering how to deal with the monster. Resolutely, he thought that since Brand had saved his life earlier, he decided to be braver and said loudly, "Sir Knight, I will hold him off, you attack from behind—"
Brand barely held back from bursting into tears, thinking that any attack direction was aningless. Nevertheless, to shut the guy up, he curtly interrupted, "Shut up! Now is not the ti for nonsense!"
"Sorry..."
"Never mind, pretend I said nothing." Brand turned back, but as soon as he did, he saw the colossal monster charging towards them like a heavy tank. Facing a level 65 BOSS charge, he didn’t dare delay, imdiately dodging to the left. He aid to land a ’Frontal Breakthrough’ on its less defensive side, hoping the armor-piercing attack could affect the ’Rock Shield’.
Unexpectedly, his dodge was surprisingly successful. Although Eckn was slow to turn, it shouldn’t have neglected its flank protection. Brand had braced for a hit, but left the attack range unscathed. A cold sweat broke out on him as he considered another possibility. Turning back, he saw Ecco facing the Earth Envoy head-on, sword at his chest.
"Are you kidding !"
In an instant, Brand abandoned the ’Frontal Breakthrough’ skill, raising his right hand to unleash a wind bullet. Although the Wind Queen’s Ring had only charged for ten minutes and lacked power, the fierce wind disrupted Eckn’s strike, which had been aid at the young man’s chest but instead struck Ecco’s left shoulder. Screaming in pain, he was sent flying into the nearby bushes, laying still after a dull thud.
Brand quickly retreated a step. Facing the monster, which was slowly turning towards him, he inwardly cursed.
He was out of options, praying for Nanis to arrive soon. But his wish seed unrealistic, as if Martha had ignored his prayer.
The forest was deathly silent, as if only he and the Divine Envoy were left in the woods.
But at that mont, Brand heard a light laugh.
The laugh was so out of place—
...
For Antitina, the battle beca easier once Romantic joined. Of course, Miss rchant wasn’t keen on revealing how many Dissolution Crystals she possessed. Initially, she supported with three crystals, which the rcenaries used to blast the Lizardn off the platform. Though the forest-dwelling barbarians seed less evolved, they knew self-preservation. Under the Lizardman officer’s command, the green-skinned reptiles quickly reford the skirmish line and charged again.
This ti, Romantic contributed five Dissolution Crystals before shaking her head, claiming she had no more left.
Miss rchant had a natural cunning, hearing the Dragon Horn of Nanis echoing over the ruins from the other side of the battlefield, signaling the end of the fight. Though reinforcents hadn’t arrived, they could at least retreat.
But Antitina didn’t want such a result.
So her orders were simple, "Furlo, go grab her bag for —"
The Elf Girl acted on command, and as a result, Romantic tearfully watched as Antitina pulled five more crystals from her bag of peculiar items, asking discontentedly, "Why did you hide so many! These are dangerous, haven’t I warned you?"
"I was careful with them." Miss rchant replied, aggrieved.
"That’s not the point, forget it, we’ll talk later..." The noble daughter sighed, "Furlo, distribute these crystals. We’re preparing to counterattack."
The Elf Girl nodded and carried out the order.
Clearly, the battle’s outco was foreseeable. (To be continued. To find out what happens next, log on to qidian for more Chapters, support the author, and read the official version!)
