Chapter 413: Scene 124: The Observer Behind (Update 1, Thank you all for the praise, it’s heartwarming)_2

He looked at the young girl who was mischievously as cute as a doll, feeling sowhat doubtful.

“Do you know what this is?”

“An apple of the elf, is it very rare?”

Indeed.

“So, you were at that place back then?”

“Oh my, Mr. Brand, your suspicion really makes sad! Of course I know that place, the Valley of the Saints — you humans call it the King’s Legacy, right?”

You humans, Brand caught this phrase. But he was almost certain of the young girl’s truth; back in the Valley of the Saints, even he himself didn’t know he had such an item in his backpack. Therefore, 90% of Alorz’s words were believable.

“So, why give this?” Brand thought for a mont, opened his backpack, took out the golden apple, holding it by its stem. He voiced his lingering doubt: Golden apples are not ordinary items. In folklore, they co from fruits borne by the Golden Tree, and because they are nurtured by the water from the river of destiny, they contain the power to change a person’s fate: “I don’t know you, right, Miss Alorz?”

The short young girl cackled softly, her eyes curved into crescent moons, and she said with a giggle: “Of course there’s a reason. Consider it a token of appreciation.”

“A token of appreciation?”

Alorz nodded.

Brand had a black line on his forehead: “Why do I feel it’s a huge trouble.”

“Precisely because of that, I need to thank you, Mr. Brand.”

“So this ti you saved to thank ?” Brand was trying to figure out what this huge trouble was, although he hadn’t done anything particularly bad. He thought for a long ti but didn’t have a clue. However, Alorz didn’t seem to be lying — or rather, there was no need to use a golden apple to trick him.

A golden apple as a token of appreciation, how big must this trouble be? The young man couldn’t help feeling increasingly overshadowed.

“Not really.” Alorz shook her head; her golden ponytails swung playfully.

Brand looked at her.

“There’s a question I want to ask you, but for a mont, I’m not sure whether to ask or not. Asking would give the joy of getting an answer, not asking would give the joy of guessing. So annoying, so contradictory. But if that disobedient little kitty were to kill you, wouldn’t I lose one kind of joy?” The short young girl continued talking to herself: “Not doing, not doing!”

“So?”

“No, I’ve changed my mind. I’ve already decided, I want to ask you this question——”

Damn, Eckn, you died so unjustly! Brand couldn’t help but cry out for the Earth Envoy in his heart, as this sounded just like ‘I’m in a bad mood today, so I want to make trouble for you—’. This tone was so similar to those unreasonable Dragon Clan mbers who were unwelco everywhere on the Vaun Continent?

But he couldn’t help but ask: “Then aren’t you losing the joy of guessing, as you said?”

“Didn’t I say I changed my mind.”

“Alright, what do you want to ask——”

Alorz pointed to the apple in his hand.

“About this?” Brand was startled.

“Mr. Brand should be aware of its value—an elf’s apple—doesn’t Mr. Brand want to eat it?”

Brand shook his head, his plans were already clear. But the girl’s attitude aroused his suspicion, and he couldn’t help but look at the apple in his hand doubtfully—could this be a fake? Or maybe there was another mystery? Brand never believed in pies falling from the sky.

“Are you worried I’m deceiving you? Rest assured, I didn’t poison it this ti, I just added sothing interesting.” The short girl answered.

Brand broke out in a cold sweat, thinking it’s a good thing he was cautious: “What interesting things?” He asked, but Alorz seed unwilling to answer. He saw her split the bushes and run to the Earth Envoy’s corpse, then drag it out—just grabbing the hind leg of the giant beast like dragging a dead dog. She tinkered with the corpse for a few monts, took out a longbow and muttered to herself: “Strange, the magic flow is so severe.”

“Damn, keep your Black Hand away from the corpse!”

Brand couldn’t help shouting in his heart when he heard her. ‘Magic flow’ is an old ga setting. When the owner of magic items dies, the magic power of those items diminishes with the loss of spiritual guidance, causing potential damage to magic equipnt. So when killing a monster, you might not always get all its equipnt. How much you get depends entirely on luck.

Or using ga terminology—it entirely depends on how unlucky you are.

Brand used to be the King of Black Hands in his group, though his Senior Sister was even unluckier. Brand’s misfortune was within the system’s limits, but his Senior Sister’s misfortune seed to transcend the system’s aura; many tis her attempts to loot resulted in having all magically enchanted items lose power. But the problem was, Brand knew he was unlucky but his Senior Sister was obsessed with the business of looting—she seed to make it her life’s goal to challenge the fate of the Black Hand.

And as the saying goes, fate cannot be challenged, thus her attempts ultimately ended in disgrace.

But today, Brand witnessed soone with misfortune rivaling hers. A perfect 55-level BOSS in a perfect storyline, almost like a 30-level leap in perfect status BOSS corpse, the first item she looted was a bow. And Earth Envoy Eckn’s drop list only had one bow.

The Brass Shale Longbow.

“Don’t say that … what happened to the Power of Mountains and Rivers!” Brand couldn’t help but feel heartbroken.
