"Qian?"

The red-haired girl looked at him without saying a word, only shaking her head; then she looked up and Brand had already seen sothing in those blazing amber eyes. He turned his head and sure enough, an uninvited guest had appeared on the second-floor corridor of the hall at so point.

Or perhaps it had always been there, he just hadn’t noticed it before.

A tall skeleton holding a war axe, its entire body shrouded in a worn brass armor, its wind-leaking jaw slightly open, and the crack on its skull seed to silently mock. Kabais looked down at him, the dark yellow flas in its eye sockets flickering slightly, it had recognized the young man it had seen from afar in the breakout battle at Ridenburg.

"Viscount Tingsgang?"

Kabais said in a hoarse, wind-leaked voice, "Since we parted at Ridenburg, have you been well?"

"Ma-da-ra." Brand ground out the words through clenched teeth.

The undead from Madara, how could they be here? The young man looked coldly at Grudin, his thoughts racing, and coldly asked, "Since when did Madara and the nobles of Erune beco as close as family?"

"As ti goes by, life turns to dust. Only interests remain eternally unchanged in this world, Viscount." Kabais responded in a deep voice.

Its response confird Brand’s suspicion, Grudin was indeed colluding with Madara. But what were they plotting? Brand looked up to see the tall skeleton warrior’s war axe pointing diagonally between him and the despicable baron. No doubt if he made a move, Kabais would not stand idly by.

This general under the ’One-eyed’ Tagus, the lord of the Dark Kingdom, has at least Gold Middle Rank strength. But he himself had only just reached the edge of the Gold Rank, the outco of the duel was uncertain, though for Kabais to prevent him from killing soone under its nose was not an impossible task.

Tagus acted cautiously and Kabais being here surely ant backup was not far. Brand turned and saw, sure enough, in the shadows a figure was moving. Then a pale-faced young man in a grey robe stepped out.

Rosco, another old acquaintance; Brand rembered when he first saw him at Buqi, he was just a humble Undead Wizard Apprentice, but now his collar bore two purple fla emblems.

Interdiate Undead Wizard.

Brand fell silent, his gaze landing on Baron Grudin not far away.

Grudin had also recovered so composure from his previous panic. The middle-aged man propped one hand on the wood chips, his face as still as water, forcing himself to remain calm, though the bulging veins beneath his pale grey skin revealed his inner tension.

But when Brand’s sword turned, the ghostly light on the silver blade hit his eyes, causing Grudin to shrink back slightly. He then realized this was a silent mockery, rage surged in his heart but he hid it well.

"I truly didn’t expect soone could sell their soul to a devil," Brand said coldly. "You rotting bones are here, presumably to save this man’s life?"

Baron Grudin regained so confidence from his allies, he ground his teeth like a beast, his eyes sharp with nace, and said in a low voice, "Young man, you may spout whatever nonsense you like. But in your heart, you know, even without relying on my allies from Madara, do you dare oppose the Jendener Family? Provoking a feud between two families all for a montary whim; ultimately—Viscount Tingsgang, your family wouldn’t allow you to neglect your duties to such an extent..."

He hadn’t finished speaking when Brand interrupted him with a cold snort—the temperature in the hall seed to drop several degrees instantly, cold enough to freeze the air.

Everyone present, except for the undead, shivered.

Baron Grudin stiffened, the rest of his words stuck forever in his throat. As if he would never understand, he had been utterly wrong from the start because Brand was nothing but a pretender. In reality, the young man intended to kill, his hand rose, the long hilt of his sword slashing towards Baron Grudin’s throat like a silver line.

Grudin was stunned, he obviously hadn’t expected Brand to actually attack. This was not conventional! For a mont, Baron Grudin was dumbfounded and didn’t dodge—if not for a heavy axe falling from above with a ’boom’, the long handle blocking Brand’s sword—it would likely result in a corpse.
