Chapter 469: Act 152 Dawn (5) (Part 1)

On the battlefield, there was a gentle gasp.

The noble soldiers and rcenaries all paused, looking at Brand with a sense of reverence — the story of the Red Copper Dragon Reto had long spread across the Southern Territory, and even so northern regions had heard of it:

The Year of Flowers and Sumr Leaves, the very year the Black Rose War erupted—

When Karasu was defeated, the Viel Region was in crisis. The White Mane Legion’s flank collapsed at the first contact, and the Golan-Elsen Territory fell into retreat. The Black Lord Instarlon advanced without restraint, making Denell’s situation perilous.

The news of the defeat did not surprise anyone, but the kingdom’s citizens could not help but ask, where is our army? Where is our victory? Where is our honor?

The response given to them was a cold treaty, written in Ben’s frigid language, declaring that the Buqi Region no longer belonged to this ancient kingdom.

Then, there was silence.

But amidst the silence, there seed to be a faint voice. This voice told a story, responding to everyone’s hopes with gentle words—

In Ridenburg.

There was a flash of lightning in the pitch-black rain night.

A massive group of refugees was marching hastily. They broke through the flank blockade of ‘Black Lord’ Instarlon — slaying the White Knight Albton, defeating the Dead Maggot Magus and Leidios, and evading many of Gulob’s pursuers — like a legend, they appeared under Brags City’s walls by morning, cleaving through the morning mist in a single night.

The one leading them was called the Red Copper Dragon Reto.

Brags was in an uproar because of this.

The Southern Territory was also boiling, and this reputation even spread far to the north; carrying the na of a miracle, reaching the ears of the nobles far above, or becoming the idle talk of citizens over tea and als.

Reto was called the bearer of miracles.

But now this Undead General, who had personally experienced that war and was known in whispered tones as the ‘Death God’ within the Dark, told them a different truth. Was there soone else behind the Red Copper Dragon Reto?

Kabais had no reason to deceive them, nor any need to. Especially with the raspy, gusty tone of the tall Skeleton General carrying a sincere admiration and anticipation, its pale yellow Soul Fire in its eye sockets flickered, as if it could be seen as appreciation.

Just because of the young knight before them? All eyes involuntarily fell on Brand.

Why had he always stayed behind the scenes, if Kabais had not said it, would his na never be known to the world?

The rcenaries and noble soldiers could not imagine anyone declining such high honor and glory, and they certainly could not guess the circumstances and choices Brand faced at that ti. They just saw the only response from the young man was a faint smile—

It was not refusal, but disdain.

Everyone instinctively took a breath, as if they understood the realm of “after finishing the task, leaving without a trace, hiding their na deeply.” Who was he? Brand said nothing, but a mysterious aura had involuntarily descended upon him.

The battlefield fell silent for a mont.

Unfortunately, Brand did not know what others were thinking, or he would have felt extrely fortunate. Because at that mont, he was not disdainful but was at a loss for how to respond after being exposed by Kabais, and was simply maintaining a business-like smile.

“Crenxia, what are you waiting for?” he shouted.

The rcenaries were stunned, but imdiately reacted. disha had already leveled her lance and charged out from the left flank, the Unicorn Knight and her steed like a silver streak piercing into the enemy ranks, her lance impaling the heart of the towering Crusader Executioner. The montary support the noble private army found was swiftly defeated, and they fell into disarray again, retreating imdiately.

And the Skeleton General stood amidst the chaos, the flas in its eyes flickering.

Within the city, Gruding’s private army was no match for these rcenaries; it knew this well. Unless they defended the city and fought street battles, from a combat will perspective, these human noble soldiers were no match for the rcenaries driven by revenge. One side fought for money, the other for belief; the outco of the battle was not hard to predict.

But the outer city had already fallen, and retreating to the inner city required ti, which was precisely why it was here. There weren’t many Undead within the city, and it needed to deploy these limited forces to the most crucial spots.
