Capítulo 506: Act 3 Letter (3) (Double request for next month’s tickets, 1st update)
Just as Brand ntioned Funiya, the door to the room was suddenly and unexpectedly pushed open. The young lord paused, feeling slightly annoyed at the lack of courtesy. He turned around and his eyes fell on the most distinctive face among the three faces outside the door—the face beneath the dark skin had the contours of rock, with pale gray eyes sunken beneath white eyebrows; his hair was braided and hung in clusters at the back, falling onto a bearskin coat. “Sir, you cannot—” The rcenary at the door was forced to retreat into the room and his words stopped abruptly. He turned around and looked apologetically at the young lord. “Lord, they—”
Brand waved his hand, indicating it was okay. Then he looked up at the man, the tall druid standing motionless by the door. He recognized this druid as Andrew, one of the elders of the Withered Wood Council; the two people behind him were nad Red and Ram, both mbers of the younger generation from the forest.
The rcenary closed the door as he left, and the room fell silent.
Andrew surveyed the room’s furnishings with his eagle-like piercing eyes. After a night of battle, the room hadn’t had ti to be rearranged, thus it still maintained the dim and reddish style favored by Baron Grudin. However, there seed to be a strong stench lingering on the thick carpet, causing the druid elder to frown slightly.
Once the guards left, Antitina finally stood up in anger. “What are you doing!” Although petite, she boldly questioned them, “How can you just barge in like this?”
Brand sighed upon hearing this, thinking that these folks who spent all their ti with beasts indeed did not understand how to interact in civilized society. However, he stopped Antitina, noticing Funiya behind the three towering druids who were like bear-n. Each ti he saw the girl’s long, waterfall-like, eerie green hair that seed to be pulsating with life, he couldn’t help but feel a sense of refreshing awe. Funiya hid behind the druids and shyly smiled at him. Brand’s expression softened a bit, then he spoke:
“So, what is this all about?”
He already surmised that the druids were here for Funiya. The druids of the forest were a special faction in the Amber Sword, adhering to their agreent with Nia and living outside the borders of civilization in the Black Forest. Besides docunting the effects of the Magic Moon on animals in the barbaric regions, they also monitored the growth of the Black Forest. However, druids from so regions had good relations with local residents, and occasionally ca out of the forest to warn them of monster tides. But the druids of the Withered Wood Council definitely didn’t belong to this category. Their presence here undoubtedly ant sothing had happened in the forest—but what could it be that involved a young girl like Funiya, who had nothing to do with worldly matters?
“Viscount,” Andrew replied stiffly, “we’re here to take Funiya away.”
Brand was not surprised. “What do you an?” he asked as he looked at Funiya. But the little girl avoided his gaze and nodded her head—this gave him a sense of unease.
“So,” he looked at the three druids, “what is it exactly that you want from ?”
“Here’s the thing, lord,” the young man standing behind Andrew saw an opportunity to interject, “although we consulted Miss Funiya and her father, as well as the elder of Green Village, Miss Funiya insists on getting your approval before she leaves.”
“Is that so?” Brand looked down at Funiya.
“Yes,” Funiya answered softly, “Brother Brand.”
The young lord glanced at her, then at Andrew and his group. Pondering it over, he grew more suspicious. “So what is this really about?” he frowned and asked directly, “You might as well co out with it.”
“Miss Funiya requests that we form an alliance with you, Viscount.” Andrew’s pale gray eyes fell on him, unwavering, as if scrutinizing a certain component within the entire decaying noble system of Erune. He said, “Because it is said that you have gotten into trouble while trying to save her,” Andrew’s rigid Kruz language emphasized every word strongly, “we considered it and found it not unacceptable, but there are a few conditions—”
