Capítulo 536: Act 17 Lumberyard Battle (4) (2nd update, please support)
“You have not seen such creatures. They stand about two ters tall when upright, covered in fur, but it is said they have so sort of blood relation with the goblins on the surface. Unlike their frail and nurous distant relatives, this group is an anomaly; they are strong and robust. Even a newborn cub can match the strength of a human adult,” Brand narrated slowly. “If a Bear Goblin is holding a large shield and flail for cover while Cave Dwellers dig tunnels below, it can be quite troubleso—”
He paused, then changed the subject, “However, Cave Dwellers mostly coexist with Bear Goblins. There’s a chance Bear Goblins might also be in this lumberyard.”
Everyone was startled, their gaze returned to the lumberyard across the river. The wooden gate creaked open once more; first ca a team of Cave Dwellers, then ca the sound of heavy footsteps—three lumbering creatures followed closely, dragging chains and flails and holding large shields as they slowly erged from behind the gate.
Bear Goblins.
Although most people present had never seen such creatures before, they recognized the newly erged monsters by Brand’s previous description: over two ters tall, covered in brown fur, heads hunched over wide shoulders, holding shields and flails, almost identical to the young man’s description.
Everyone couldn’t help but look at the young lord with admiration.
Yuta remained silent and looked at the young lord aningfully, as if trying to find sothing different in him.
“I’ve seen this thing before,” Fern said suddenly, staring intently at the monsters crossing the river, “We encountered it once in Karasu. It takes at least a dozen soldiers to approach one of these,” his dark face changed color for the first ti, “My lord, are you sure these things are Level 1 as well?”
Brand nodded, “The military classifications were initially set by the Four Great Sanctuaries, based not only on individual combat prowess. Bear Goblins are not very bright and cannot form scales due to their coexistence with Cave Dwellers. If Cave Dwellers in Jiao Gangdigen’s army weren’t considered a basic foundation, and Bear Goblins ford a fixed strategy with them, these big fools wouldn’t have been classified as Level 1.”
Fern nodded and stayed silent.
At this ti, the Cave Dwellers and three Bear Goblins were wading through the central river beach, retreating Cave Dwellers surrounded Mafelli and the other four tightly. The river beach was eerily quiet, the invisible balance on the battlefield swaying.
The Cave Dwellers launched a second attack but imdiately felt sothing was wrong.
The two crossbown on the stone earth fortress dropped their heavy crossbows and then drew their longswords from their backs – two shiny silver longswords, their blades bearing strange patterns glimring in the sun.
“Magic swords!” Soone among the rcenaries muttered.
These magic swords were not the low-level alchemy products available to most but genuine magic swords—at least Bronze level or higher, capable of a limited change in the power balance between the holder and their opponent.
“Whose n are those?” The eyes of the rcenary group leaders, large and small, focused on Yuta, Fern, and Crenxia simultaneously. In their minds, only these three Great Commanders could field such a luxurious lineup.
But the three Great Commanders were equally puzzled. While sharing the sa thought—those aren’t their n.
If re surprise remained until now, the next mont brought a collective breath-holding. Two brilliant sword flashes appeared on the stone earth fortress, and two Cave Dwellers leaping onto the walls were cleanly cut into two. This level of strength was close to Black Iron Peak nearing Silver Rank, a level only possessed by the three Great Commanders among the many rcenaries present.
“Who are they?” Yuta finally turned and asked, “Crenxia, are they your people?”
Sadly, Crenxia had no mind to answer, his face changed seeing the two swords. He turned to look at Brand—he recognized those swords. They were the Holy Swords used by the angels following Brand that night. Finally realizing why Fern was confident sending his most capable Wizard as bait – with two Silver Level warriors for close protection, what else was there to worry about?
