In the valley, the battle abruptly ca to a halt, becoming silent.

The sound of wings breaking through the air pierced this sudden quiet, but Tajib’s reaction was swift—as in the dark underground of Jogen Digan, there are also flying creatures, such as harpies or so dragon-like beings; and among the spellcasters’ ancestral spells, there are so specifically designed to counter the enemy’s air force. For instance, nurous no-fly spells—just like what this cave dweller witch doctor is performing right now!

It raised three fingers, with its index and middle fingers pointing forward, and its thumb forming a rough triangle.

“Tas Dam! (Domain of Abatent)” Tajib pronounced those two runes accurately with its sharp voice. The witch doctor’s no-fly spell is a form of rune magic—legend has it that these two runes were once in the hands of the North Wind Witch and later got lost on the earth, after which they spread widely, used by mortal spellcasters.

But anyhow, Brand understood that the anings of the two runes essentially capture control over the atmosphere from the North Wind’s spell. Moreover, according to the spellcaster’s strength, the forbidden area varies.

For a low-level witch doctor like Tajib, it cannot strip away the flying ability of more than ten units.

Nor can it likely perform a second casting.

Brand raised his head and indeed saw that space stagnated in front of the sheep head banner, and two great angels seed to be locked by so invisible spell, halting simultaneously before falling from the heights of dozens of feet up, like teors crashing heavily to the ground.

He saw dust flying hundreds of ters away.

“Ah!” Qian exclaid softly in surprise at the sa scene reflected in her eyes. Distracted for just a mont, she suffered a direct hit from a bear goblin’s flail.

“Stay focused, everything’s fine over there.” Brand helped the staggering Qian back, his expression showing little concern for the angels he summoned. Retracting his gaze from that direction, he instead asked, “How’s the injury?”

Qian shook her head; a bear goblin’s attack, even catalyzed to silver rank, held little sway over a gold rank existence, especially considering she had the constitution of a divine envoy, with superior recovery and defense capabilities.

Brand nodded and helped the red-haired girl stand up, frowning as he stared at the approaching line of bear goblins. Compared to the predicant Tajib faced next, his situation was equally grim.

He glanced at the encirclent and softly ordered, “Retreat.”

Retreat?

Qian was stunned; they had fought their way here through thousands of troops. Retreating now, less than a hundred ters from the cave dweller leader’s banner, seed like a loss at the brink of success?

She couldn’t help but cast a doubtful look at the two angels, wondering if the lord trusted them that much. With their goal not rely to kill Tajib, she found it hard to believe they could accomplish everything after losing their ability to fly.

“Lord?”

“Follow my command.” Brand said in a deep voice.

Qian hesitated slightly, but reluctantly nodded.

Elsewhere, as Brand anticipated, Tajib encountered troubles.

As a cave dweller, it was a tribe leader and knowledgeable. Yet its knowledge was limited to the underground of Jogen Digan, like how it faced the air force of harpies from Dark Swamp most frequently in underground world wars—especially regarding winged air forces, aside from harpies, there was no other existence in Jogen Digan’s underground.

However, it felt so pride in knowing about winged creatures, not only harpies but also feathered snakes and a legendary giant bird from the surface world.

Giant eagle.

Wind Elf’s giant eagle. In Tajib family history, there were records of this creature; the records depicted a surface world war, although Tajib didn’t know why its ancestors ca to the surface world, but in that passed-down history, the creatures flying higher, larger, and fiercer than harpies left a profound impression.

Therefore, hearing the winged sound triggered an instinctive response.

It knew, whether giant eagle, feathered snake, or harpies, or underground dragon-like beings, they shared one feature: once their flying ability was lost, moving on the ground would beco extrely difficult.
