Capítulo 566: Act 32 Expansion (13) (3rd update)

However, the managent of the wealth left by Gruding was once quite chaotic. On one hand, Brand gave absolute disposal rights of this wealth to Antitina, who had now basically beco his deputy. But later, he also promised Roman that she could allocate this wealth to complete the re-planning of comrcial and local construction in the Tonicel Region.

Even Char, the three Great Commanders, and Master Craftsman Bai Lu later had so degree of right to use a certain amount of this wealth as needed, and when they allocated their respective portions of resources, they didn’t need to go through anyone else.

When Brand initially made these arrangents, it was purely for the sake of convenience. Although he had served as a Great Commander for a period of ti in the past ga, that was completed with the aid of the ga’s system, which systematically recorded the guild warehouse’s deposits and withdrawals—even assisting in formulating so simple budgets.

But here, he did not have that assistance. In reality, when the ti ca, he found that he did not have much experience in managing a Territory.

Thus, he quickly found his finances in complete chaos. Overlapping claims led to considerable conflicts. In the end, it was Little Roman who personally went to Antitina and suggested a system where one person would manage while the other would record, stabilizing the nearly collapsing managent system.

For the first ti, Brand’s financial system had its frawork.

He glanced at the accounts—not that he understood much of it. Roman had her own thod of record-keeping, which she said was taught by her aunt. According to Char, though, those symbols were likely secret codes among witches. Nonetheless, Brand didn’t mind. If there was anyone reliable by his side, apart from the Summoned Creatures, it would be Roman and Frey.

With a brief glance, Brand looked up again at the outside, where the sounds of arguing had persisted for quite so ti. Yuta’s voice was the loudest, with Crenxia supporting her. Master Craftsman Bai Lu occasionally chid in, while Antitina spoke the least. The diator, disha, looked like she had almost lost her voice, and it seed nobody was convinced.

“What are they arguing about?” he asked.

Little Roman imdiately shook her head gleefully, imitating Antitina’s tone and drawing out her words: “Only the master of the house knows the cost of firewood, rice, and oil, my Lord—”

Brand was taken aback, faintly guessing the core of the outside argunt.

The argunt in the courtyard had lasted quite a long ti—

Antitina frowned as she looked at the few people in front of her. Although this noble girl maintained basic politeness on the surface, she was actually very irritated inside.

Lord wanted to establish his own army, which she of course supported. She also knew that Brand had given Yuta, Fern, Hu Que, and Crenxia a task to select so people from the civilians in Fir City and start building the frawork for the future private army.

But the problem didn’t lie here.

Fir City had nearly fifteen thousand people, and autumn harvest was over. In fact, the stored grain in the city just barely lasted until Thunder Moon of the next year. This ant that the additional rcenaries could not be guaranteed food and would have to rely on trade.

On the other hand, Tonicel might face massive warfare soon, and the grain portion for soldiers in warti was different from peaceti, basically doubling. On top of that, grain had to be reserved for replanting in next year’s spring, and the working n and won needed a lot of food as well.

Adding all these grain shortages together made it quite alarming.

Not to ntion the Cave Dwellers in the forest also needed food, which Gruding had provided before. However, Gruding didn’t care how many people in his Territory starved, but Brand couldn’t do the sa.

Moreover, if they wanted to further control the whole Lengshan Barony, this grain shortage would be even more astonishing. Antitina now knew that the crops in Southern Erune had generally failed in the year of Flowers and Sumr Leaves.

One reason was the climate, the other was because of Madara’s invasion.

Thus, buying grain faced another problem, as everyone knew. While the Southern war had just ended, the Northern great war was on the brink of breaking out, making Erune’s skies dark and gloomy.
