Everyone could see Brand's hesitation. Yuta and Qian exchanged a glance but said nothing. The young n were also tense, indeed, everyone could see the difficulty of each challenge in the Fate Arena. If it weren't for that woman who suddenly appeared during the last challenge, everyone knew that the young man would have likely failed by now.
As for the upcoming challenge, no one dared to say they felt confident.
Brand was the sa.
disha lightly tugged on him from behind and whispered, "Lord, no card in the deck is unique. If it doesn't work out, we can just give up."
But Brand was still hesitating. Though that was true, Vorn was so vast, and the nurous Destiny Cards were scattered throughout the world. While there were many, coming across one or two specific ones was a slim chance.
Brand had played gas before, so he naturally knew that sotis rare equipnt was a one-ti thing, purely based on luck. Missing it once might an never having another chance.
But he was not a reckless person, and even a gambler's all-in was to catch that one-in-ten-thousand chance. If he went back out onto the arena, perhaps even that one-in-ten-thousand chance wouldn't exist.
He thought for a mont, just about to shake his head when he heard a voice: "Lord, let give it a try."
He looked up, seeing Qian struggling to stand up from the cage. The girl's face did not look well, but she still forced herself and frowned as she said, "Lord, I feel my strength has recovered a bit, and I haven't tried the challenge yet. Let give it a go—"
Before she finished speaking, she felt Yuta tug on her from behind.
The Maid Corps Commander could see from Brand's hesitation that the young man was quite tempted by Kevan's terms. She worried that Qian's volunteering might actually sway Brand—For so reason, Yuta saw Qian's frail back at that mont and felt like she was seeing her own sister standing before her alive—She instinctively didn't want Qian to take the risk.
"Let go, Yuta." Qian brushed Yuta's hand away.
The Maid Corps Commander was stunned.
But Brand shook his head: "Just a bit?"
The first-round challenge in the Duel Arena was the Hellhound, a Silver Middle Upper Rank creature, even Yuta wasn't its match. What good would a red-haired girl with only partial strength recovery be?
He could tell that Qian's strength was at most at the Silver Rank Initial level at that mont.
"No." Brand replied without much thought, "I can't let you take the risk."
"But—"
Brand did not intend to listen to Qian's but. No card was more important than the people around him. He wasn't like those nobles who gambled with lives. He hadn't grown used to that apathy toward life.
Besides, what if Qian ended up in the cage again, would he rescue her again or not?
So Brand shook his head and refused her suggestion. He glanced at Kevan, regrettably shook his head at him, then looked up at the sky above the arena, preparing to respond—
"Oh?"
"Brand, you're here!" A voice that none of them had expected rang out. The clear, pleasant voice caused Brand's heart to race—How is she here? He couldn't help but turn around reflexively, and indeed saw that familiar face—With joy written all over it.
Miss rchant placed her hands on the leather satchel on her chest as she walked in from the other side of the arena—with a dwarf beside her. Brand realized he knew the dwarf too. He rembered the dwarf's na was Audem, presumably a descendant of a Rune Dwarf.
He had t him once at the 'Forest Trout' tavern.
But why was Roman with this guy? Thousands of questions flashed through Brand's mind.
Audem paid no attention to anyone around, the old dwarf looked up at the architecture around, eyes wide and mouth agape, as if he was completely absorbed, imnsely shocked.
"Brand—" Unlike him, Roman's full attention had been on Brand since the beginning, not sparing a glance to anyone else.
This rchant Lady's joy quickly turned into deep concern.
She blinked, her eyes uncommonly red—In fact, it was the first ti Brand had seen such worry in Roman's eyes: "I was so worried, Brand! Auntie is not here, and what if sothing happened to you..."
