Now reading: Chapter 720 720: Scene 104 Tonyger and the Young Lord (4) (2 from Amber Sword, a Game novel by Crimson Flame.

However, after a series of discussions, Brand surprised everyone by suggesting that deploying wizards on the front line, although seemingly insane, turned out to be an excellent strategy.

Because the role of wizards was not just to relay ssages; they were also far superior in stealth, information concealnt, and evading pursuits compared to ordinary people.

But even so, Char only supported this approach in the early stages of the war, as it could achieve a surprising effect. However, once the enemy understood their tactics, losing each wizard would be unbearable for them.

Brand could only accept this statent because he knew Char was not wrong—of course, he himself wasn't wrong either. It was just that the timing was off, as the largest magic tide in history was still far from arriving.

Then Brand glanced at the rcenary who delivered the ssage, took the letter, and read it. His face instantly turned grave, almost clouded, looking even worse than the bleak sky of this season.

Seeing the young man like this, Qian and the Silver Elf Princess couldn't help but glance at each other worriedly. They had rarely seen Brand so serious. What had happened?

"Lord?" disha asked softly.

Brand shook his head.

The ssage in the letter was simple. It rely stated that a tribe of mountain people had appeared within Pallas' territory. At this mont, receiving such a letter might not draw much attention from anyone under Brand's command.

The term "mountain people" was common in Jandener's territory. These natives frequently waged wars with the "outsiders" from Erune. Sir Pallas had dealt with them for not just a year or two, but almost his entire life.

If anyone else had seen this ssage, they would've anticipated that the old knight would be in trouble again. But to Brand, this letter had a different significance.

"It seems we have a new enemy to add to our list."

The young lord smiled wryly and handed the letter to disha. After a glance, the Silver Elf Princess paused and asked:

"Mountain people? Aren't they enemies of Count Jandener? Lord, you said that Sir Pallas has fought with them for years. Why would they ally with each other to attack us?"

disha asked with so confusion.

"The mountain people are divided into many clans. The tribe ntioned in the letter cos from the east of Glahar Mountain. They nominally fall under Count Jandener's jurisdiction, practicing self-governance. However, the mountain people's sense of territoriality is strong. They rarely migrate on a large scale, let alone leave their autonomous regions…"

"So then?" Although Qian didn't understand military matters, she sensed sothing unusual in Brand's tone.

"I don't think they're here to celebrate the sleep festival. I don't know what promise Jandener made to these stubborn folks, but they're definitely coming for us," Brand said.

"It doesn't matter," Qian snorted softly. "Whoever cos, we'll defeat them."

Brand smiled; he knew the red-haired girl was just trying to bolster their spirits.

disha was more composed: "Is the problem serious?" she asked.

Brand shook his head: "It'll definitely increase our pressure, but it's hard to say by how much. I believe that the old fox, Count Jandener, has probably mobilized more than just one mountain tribe."

He looked into the distance, where the snow had turned the streets into a foggy expanse, "It seems we've underestimated these 'beasts' who fight day in and day out."

Though Brand spoke lightly, he was actually uncertain. Who knew how many mountain people would enter Pallas? Providing food supplies for them might beco a bottleneck.

But Brand was unsure how many resources Jandener could mobilize within his territory and over what period of ti.

But regardless, Pallas' troops, the mountain people, and Madara's undead.

The young man couldn't help but furrow his brow deeply.

"Should I notify Miss Antitina?" disha asked.

Brand shook his head. Antitina remained at the South Gate, overseeing the rcenaries who were paying the workers' wages in Free Port's Cross Copper Coins—only a few coppers for each person.

The amount wasn't much, but it was better than nothing. It was more symbolic. Initially, the noble daughter wanted to save this money, but that was part of Roman's entire revival plan, and he naturally disagreed.
