The Lord Priest from Eink took a mont to glance at his knights to see if they could withstand the fog-like Holy Multi-headed Dragon, while letting out a low chuckle as he made an offer to Brand.
That low chuckle sounded sowhat familiar.
This thought flashed through Brand's mind for an instant, but the fact that he was still caught in battle made him unable to be complacent. He gritted his teeth in secret, trying to pull back the sword—Anman firmly grasped the blade of the Earth Sword, making Brand feel that without exerting all his strength, it would be impossible to pull the sword back from his opponent.
Confirming this, Brand breathed a sigh of relief, sneered lightly, and said coldly, "Oh? So in Lord Priest's view, what should I pay to redeem my life?"
"The Earth Sword, and lead the way for Veronica Commander, no problem?" In Anman's opinion, killing Brand was the safest option, but Veronica disagreed, so he had to settle for the next best thing.
But to have Brand hand over the Earth Sword was basically impossible, let alone lead the way for Veronica. He looked at the slightly shrewd eyes of Lord Priest, inhaling secretly.
Anman.
One of the regional priests of the Holy Temple, although not the highest in status, is considered one of the most troubleso by Brand. Anman's elent is 'Solid Wall', belonging to the lowest level of micro elents, but in the Amber Sword, it's not really that elent rank determines everything—mixed elents are chaotic and weak, and the notion of the Power of Existence being absolutely invincible does not exist.
Advanced elents represent more possibilities, and low-level elents, when used properly, can also exert imnse strength. Anman is an example.
Relying on the 'Solid Wall' elent as support, he perfectly compensates the priest's weakness of needing ti to cast spells when in one-on-one battles, and in full status, not to ntion warriors, even wizards dare not face him head-on.
In Vorn, a priest in full status is called Near God. In Brand's impression, only berserkers in rage mode and so special advanced professions can confront a priest in this state.
Moreover, Anman himself is several ranks higher. It's estimated that this guy needs only about one-third of the buffs to make Brand search for his teeth all over the ground.
This gap in absolute strength made Brand silent for a mont until Anman spoke once more:
"Trying to buy ti, Baron?" Anman chuckled, "Perhaps you are sowhat fearless; Lord Veronica won't kill you, but that doesn't an others would treat you the sa."
Brand was taken aback.
"Your loyal subordinate is hiding nearby, but it seems that the beautiful lady looks more like your companion, Mr. Baron? Surely Mr. Baron would not want to see his companion co to any harm, right?"
Anman looked into the forest.
But Anman didn't know that his words instantly ignited the anger in Brand's heart. If Brand had a bottom line, it was all things related to him; perhaps because he ca from a weighty history of the past, witnessing the deaths of Valkyrie and Regent Princess, seeing too many stories of loss and sorrow.
Brand knew that to break free from such a heavy chain, he must shatter this history, using the strength he possesses to change everything, thus he would absolutely not allow anyone to threaten him in such a manner.
He made his decision in an instant.
With a burst of force, Brand pulled the blade of the Earth Sword back from Anman's grasp. The sword slipped from Anman's hand, causing him to take a step back involuntarily, but as he retreated, Brand imdiately closed in.
In Anman's view, Brand's approach was to prevent him from activating the 'Solid Wall' elent again, but at this mont, the priest from Eink was sowhat delighted — at such a close distance, he could not activate the 'Solid Wall' elent, but Brand also could not evade his attack.
Rember, priests don't only possess supportive spells.
"Ignoring the head for the tail." Anman sneered, extending his fingers forward; a cross-shaped aura appeared on each of his fingers. "Holy Strike Technique!"
He shouted lowly, as five beams of light shot out in an instant — Anman did not exert full strength, knowing well that such a simple strike could not possibly injure his opponent given their strength, so he was ready for a second attack.
