The silver light gate disappeared without a trace as if it had never existed, leaving only Brand holding a box, sowhat bewildered.
"Pfft." Faina suddenly burst into laughter while looking at the young man.
"Is it that funny?" Brand retorted angrily, while he opened the box.
"Hmph, this lady can laugh if she wants. What are you gonna do about it?"
"Yeah, I wonder whose claws it is—" Brand glanced at his left hand, shook his head, and sighed.
The Princess of the Flower Leaf Domain swiftly pulled her hand away, a blush spreading across her fair neck: "How could you say that—"
"Eh, did I ever promise you anything?"
Faina clenched her fists and glared at her, eyes spitting fire as if she wanted to devour Brand. The young lady stomped her feet, pretending to be strong as she scolded: "You, you just wait, I'll report you to Lord Veronica."
"Report ? About what?"
The noble daughter was stunned and suddenly stamred, her face flushed: "Say... say you took advantage of ."
This woman...
Brand stared at Faina, dumbfounded, never imagining she would use such a tactic. It felt as if he'd been punched right in the face, leaving him breathless for a while.
"Would you really say that?"
"Of course not, I'm just fooling you!" Faina snorted softly: "There's no benefit for in saying that, plus it's too embarrassing to be taken advantage of by a country bumpkin."
Brand was left speechless.
But if this clueless and brainless woman really got impulsive and went spouting such things to Duke Huaye, he genuinely feared that the Duke might furiously order the Cruz Empire's Pegasus Knights to capture him.
anwhile, their earlier argunt had almost made him forget about the box he held.
Speaking of the box in his hand, Brand soon realized that it seed to be a magic item — from inside he pulled out a long cloak as if drawing a curtain, with the cloak's corner continuously erging from the box, eventually becoming much larger than the box itself.
But regardless of how magical the cloak seed, without activating the spell, it really was no different from a curtain — even less so because at least curtains have pretty patterns and can block sunlight.
Brand shook the cloak a bit, thinking of it rely as a large rag. Discarding it seed wasteful while holding it felt too cumberso, presenting him with a dilemma set by William.
After considering it for a while, he wrapped the cloak around his hand and continued forward. This underground passageway wasn't supposed to be very long; he rembered a player reminiscing in a post that they almost gave up and returned to town after moving through dark for over ten minutes, only to suddenly enter the Trade Wind Ring's center.
Perhaps it was similar here.
He looked upward; the vascular-like 'bridge' seed to converge at a central point above. The further he walked, the more evident this beca.
Brand silently calculated the ti. He held Funiya's hand, followed by Faina, their footsteps echoing clearly in the darkness and silence, the crunching sound reminiscent not of feet touching the ground but of secretive shadows trailing them, inducing a chilling sense.
The noble daughter repeatedly glanced back, the darkness behind her causing her heart to race, wishing to stay close to Brand, yet the thought of Brand's infuriating deanor made her instinctively lag a few steps to avoid mockery.
After roughly half an hour, Brand began to sense the air around him starting to move, making him feel the strategy was sowhat deceitful. Then again, timing in the dark is inherently challenging, and errors are inevitable, so he let it go.
Another few minutes forward, another stone gate appeared before him.
This grand gate opened upward at an inclined angle with the ground, its mysterious and historically rich patterns subrged in darkness, like a piece of history buried beneath dust.
However, this door was much smaller than the one below, only about one-tenth the size.
Brand initially thought he'd have to open the door once more, but surprisingly, as they approached the door, it creaked open all on its own, accompanied by falling dust, receding backward.
