Passing through layers of defense facilities, gradually delving underground. Beneath the deep rock layers, sound transmission has beco extrely slow, the temperature has risen slightly, but the surroundings have quieted down. After a while, Brand heard the sound of dripping water coming from afar. He estimated that there were at least three lines of defense near the surface, built almost like a maze. Thanks to his experience, he was able to avoid wasting ti passing through there.
After passing through the surface fortress system, the area below should be the living district of the Underground City. In fact, underground cities are quite similar to surface cities; they have residential areas, comrcial districts, assembly places, temples, palaces, and even extensive drainage systems. He had seen such cities in the holand of the Chongshan Dwarves and knew that monsters occasionally erged from the underground drainage system to the upper areas, becoming targets for players' quests.
However, in underground cities, places with long-standing water, aside from the drainage system, underground rivers, underground streams, and seepage pools, there are only the halls left. These so-called halls are equivalent to plazas on the surface, usually with seepage pools and fountains dug in the center, connecting residential and comrcial areas, providing daily water for quite a large surrounding area. Therefore, hearing the dripping sound here indicated they were not far from the central area of this underground city.
Walking about a minute in darkness, holding a glowing gemstone, the light in Brand's hand suddenly scattered in all directions; the low rock walls around them disappeared instantaneously, and they stepped into a vast underground space. The forward light spread over the ground, revealing an uneven stone-paved gigantic plaza, with a fountain at its center, with water still gently flowing today after thousands of years. However, the rock platform surrounding the fountain had been eroded, leaving it riddled with holes; the overflowing water ford a large sunken area on the plaza.
"It's the plaza! Just like you said, Big Brother Brand!" Funiya couldn't help but exclaim in surprise.
Qian looked at Brand with so admiration. To her, although the Lord was young, he was indeed a very knowledgeable Scholar. Compared to other nobles still entangled in jealousy or indulging in lavish pleasures at this age, the Lord could already converse equally with figures like Gray Sword Saint phisto and Veronica, even guiding them in insight.
"Mm." Brand nodded. He too was sowhat excited; having found the hall ant the target was close. Especially considering how large this underground hall was, it surely connected to either a palace or temple. He raised his head, looking at the densely packed holes on the towering rock walls around, hoping to find so familiar mark.
He first found the Holy Temple's Holy Emblem. The belief in Vorn has barely changed over ti; Lord Martha continually shelters the wise beings upon the earth. Although the aesthetics vary, the central figure of a Madonna-like woman in the Holy Emblem is recognizable to everyone.
Soon, they walked around the plaza. At this mont, Brand's eyes brightened, "It's this way!" He found the passage leading to the palace on the opposite side of the plaza's central axis. The palace was the core of the Underground City and also the defensive hub. If the Torch might exist in this Underground City, the ancient Silver People would surely place it at the city's center.
The perilous mission's target was in sight; even Brand, with all his insight, couldn't help but feel nervous and uneasy. Veronica and phisto might regard it as a new Guardian Land, but Brand knew the true significance of the Torch's existence. Thus, he could divide one-third of the land for Gray Sword Saint phisto to restore the nation without reservation, but if asked to surrender the greatest secret here, that's utterly impossible.
This was his greatest hope to save Erune.
He took a deep breath and couldn't help hastening his steps. But right then, Gray Sword Saint phisto suddenly grabbed him as a dark shadow rushed at them. phisto swiftly drew the giant sword from his back, slashing at the shadow. With a loud bang, Brand finally saw that the shadow was actually a giant scythe descending straight from the ceiling. The scythe shimred with unique patterns, surely embedded with powerful Spell; a direct hit would leave even elent level experts at a disadvantage. He couldn't help but break into a cold sweat, having been too excited and neglecting the most fundantal aspect—traps.
Of course, considering his reaction, this wouldn't have hit him anyway, but phisto's gesture won his favor, showing that the Gray Sword Saint indeed intended to stand on the sa side as him. He cald down, nodding to phisto.
"Be careful," Gray Sword Saint lightly remarked.
"Mm."
After evading the first trap, the path ahead was indeed filled with thorns, but then it turned into Brand's solo performance. He wasn't a nightingale or a Ranger, lacking special abilities to detect traps. However, even if he hadn't eaten at, he had seen pigs run; Brand had a wealth of experience as a Level 130 warrior, having explored various Underground Cities and encountered nurous traps.
Not to ntion a Level 60 or so Silver Civilization ruins; he had been to Golden People ruins as well. Compared to those, Valha rely preserved in a more intact manner, yet those traps held nothing novel for him. A re glance showed how a trap functioned, leading his party through the underground corridors almost like an outing.
Unfamiliar with Brand, phisto naturally assud he mastered engineering chanisms. However, in Qian and Funiya's eyes, it was completely different. To them, Brand (Big Brother) seed even more brilliant. But Otarais couldn't fathom how a young man could be so adept at everything; given the learning ti, it didn't seem feasible—
The Silver Ancestors' underground palace sprawled horizontally and vertically, appearing neither complex nor lavish. Still constructed primarily from rock, with crystal grid patterns extending towards the dark, the interior building space here was taller and broader compared to outside. In the center of the great hall, one could see those four-sided pillars from the Dwarf Hall that required over a dozen people to encircle.
Networks of Energy transmission spread like spider webs between these pillars, indicating denser construction. Suddenly, Brand's gaze extended forward, following the light of the gemstone in his hand, surpassing more than thirty pillars, which ford a circle, revealing a giant 'Lighthouse' at the center.
Indeed, upon seeing that for the first ti, Brand believed it should be a 'Lighthouse.'
In the pitch-black space, a gigantic pyramid stood silently, but at its apex floated an imnse spindle-shaped Crystal, exceeding twenty ters in height, nearly as wide as tall. The Crystal flickered with wave-like patterns, soft light erged from these patterns, albeit extrely faint, still illuminating the pyramid's surroundings.
"This…" witnessing the sight, everyone couldn't help but remain speechless.
