Inside the factory.
The main doors were shut tight, and the windows were closed.
Wang Hang climbed onto a machine, directing from a high vantage point.
"Quick, quick, quick! It’s coming over! Block it!"
He stomped his feet in frustration.
But it was no use.
Da i was the very definition of "swift as the wind."
Chen Liangxi and one of his lackeys, holding a blanket, lunged forward. Dust filled the air, but they didn’t catch a single whisker.
"Damn it."
Chen Liangxi slamd his hand on the concrete floor.
’From this day forward, my most hated animal is the cat.’
"Brother Xi, this isn’t working. Why don’t we try to lure it with food?" the man in the leather jacket suggested.
"Give a break."
Chen Liangxi cursed, then asked if he had any cat food.
"No cat food, but I’ve got dog food."
’Dog food, cat food... it’s all pretty much the sa, right?’
"Get lost."
Chen Liangxi waved his hand in annoyance. The cat was clearly spooked; no amount of food would work.
Just then, a few of the lackeys shouted excitedly.
They had managed to corner Da i under a pile of discarded equipnt in the corner.
They reacted with lightning speed, blocking all visible exits with whatever they could find.
Chen Liangxi hurried over.
"Is it in there?"
Unsure, he got on the ground and peered through a gap.
In the narrow space, Da i was crouched, staring quietly back at him.
It was then that Chen Liangxi suddenly noticed the collar around Da i’s neck.
He had seen the collar on Da i’s neck before.
He hadn’t thought much of it, assuming it was just soone’s runaway pet.
But now he suddenly realized this collar seed a bit different.
Under its neck, why was there a piece sticking out? And was that... a...
’A cara?’
In an instant, Chen Liangxi’s mind went completely blank.
’Why is there a cara hanging from this cat’s collar?’
’A miniature one, at that.’
’Where did it co from?’
’Then all that ti we were chasing it... it even ran into the workshop.’
’Doesn’t that an it recorded everything?’
"Did you get it?" Wang Hang called from behind him.
Chen Liangxi shot to his feet.
’Sothing’s wrong!’
Just then, with a trendous CRASH, the factory’s main doors were violently smashed open.
"Don’t move!"
Amidst the shouts, ard police officers wielding assault rifles stord in.
They moved with precision.
Wang Hang, still standing on the equipnt, was yanked down by two ard officers before he could even react.
Others rushed to the table outside the workshop, securing that area imdiately.
The man in the leather jacket, standing in the distance, was brutally forced to the ground before he knew what was happening.
As for Chen Liangxi, he looked up in shock to find a dozen assault rifles pointed directly at his face.
"Hands on your head! Get down!" an officer yelled.
These were ard police. With guns pointed at him, Chen Liangxi wouldn’t have dared to resist even if he had ten tis the nerve.
He obediently got on the ground.
He just couldn’t figure out where these cops had co from.
’There’s surveillance outside! We have soone watching it!’
’Soone watching?’
Chen Liangxi turned his head and saw Lao Liu lying on the ground next to him. His jaw dropped.
’That’s right... we were all so focused on catching the cat, there was no one left outside.’
Fuck!
Chen Liangxi’s composure completely shattered.
’Where the hell did that cat co from?!’
A minute earlier, after confirming the situation on the ground, Lin Weinian had given the direct order to move in.
Originally, the shoe factory’s periter was covered by surveillance caras with no blind spots.
They even had a man dedicated to watching the monitors, who would have imdiately been alerted if anyone appeared on cara.
But unexpectedly, Chen Liangxi, in his haste to catch the cat, had called everyone into the workshop.
There was no one left outside.
And no one watching the surveillance feed.
What more was there to say?
A team of ard police simply scaled the wall and raided the place. The arrests couldn’t have been easier.
Just then, Da i cautiously poked its head out from the gap.
"Where’d this cat co from?" an ard officer muttered.
Chen Liangxi looked up with an expectant expression. ’Yeah, go on and tell us! Where did the cat co from? I’d like to know, too.’
He felt that his downfall today was all because of this one cat.
Seeing the crowd of people outside, Da i shrank back again.
At that mont, Lin Weinian arrived in a hurry with his n.
The operation was a perfect success, with no casualties.
"Search!"
At his command, a large number of police officers sprang into action.
Guns.
Two full AKs, five full magazines, seven handguns, and one rifle.
There were hardly even any knives.
This crew was well-equipped. They used nothing but guns.
Seeing these weapons, Lin Weinian’s expression beca extrely grave.
’How did these get in?’
He strode into the lab, and after a quick glance, his expression grew even more solemn.
"Where’s the cook?" he asked coldly.
Wang Hang was quickly brought over.
His OCD and germaphobia were gone now. Covered in dirt from head to toe, his face was pale with fright as he trembled uncontrollably.
Under Lin Weinian’s imposing gaze, he shuddered and wet himself.
"You’re Wang Hang, correct?" Lin Weinian began.
Wang Hang’s eyes widened. ’How does Lin Weinian know my na?’
"You’re the cook. Give a number," Lin Weinian said in a deep voice.
The professional equipnt, the nurous barrels of raw materials—it was obvious the scale of this operation was anything but small.
’And how,’ Lin Weinian wondered, ’did the local precinct with jurisdiction over this shoe factory let things get to this point?’
Even though they had guessed the number wouldn’t be small, everyone present was still shocked.
It was in the tons!
Lin Weinian took a deep breath.
He was happy to have cracked such a huge case, of course, but it also raised so huge problems.
For example, the raw materials—where did they co from?
This case would require a long investigation.
"Take them away!" he ordered coldly.
Just then, he heard a ow.
It was Da i, who had erged from the gap in the distance and leaped into Shen Xin’s arms.
"His na is Shen Xin, right?" Lin Weinian asked.
Tang Youkun, standing beside him, nodded. "Director Lin, we really have his cat to thank for this one. Honestly, if I hadn’t seen it with my own eyes, I’d never have believed a cat could be this smart."
"And using a cat for reconnaissance... that’s a first for ."
Lin Weinian nodded. ’You think it’s a first for you? You think I’ve ever seen anything like this before?’
He beckoned to Chen Guanglin, who was standing nearby.
"Captain Chen, what’s the story with this young comrade of yours? What made him think of using a cat for surveillance?" Lin Weinian asked curiously.
He didn’t want to call it outlandish, but that’s truly what it was.
Chen Guanglin replied, "Director Lin, to be honest, this is the first ti I’ve seen it myself. But I heard that Shen Xin’s cat has helped crack a hostage case before. It also conducted reconnaissance and figured out the situation inside."
"He seems to have a special connection with small animals. Oh, right, he’s also helping the sub-bureau train their police dogs."
"The reason we were able to follow the trail to Fang Pinzhang earlier was thanks to a police dog that Shen Xin trained."
Now that his superior was showing interest in Shen Xin, Chen Guanglin certainly wasn’t going to hold back. He had to share all of Shen Xin’s glorious achievents.
He briefly recounted the process of tracking down Fang Pinzhang.
"Whoa, really? That impressive?" Tang Youkun exclaid in surprise.
The transaction had happened three days ago, and the dog still managed to track him from several kiloters away.
He had worked with police dogs plenty of tis, but he’d never heard of one that skilled.
"He can train police dogs, too?"
Lin Weinian’s eyes narrowed slightly. He looked at Shen Xin in the distance, his interest growing even more.
’This kid is a real talent!’
