Inside the interrogation room, Yu Dalin’s expression and gaze were deeply moving.

Shen Xin tilted his head back slightly. He could imagine everything that had happened.

Yang Wenqing was an arrogant man who did whatever he wanted without considering the consequences.

Chen Fang and her husband were involved in shady business, and they gave all the money they earned to their son. This showed just how much they spoiled Yang Wenqing.

It was no surprise that Yang Wenqing had developed such a personality.

To put it bluntly, the guy was just a punk.

If a dog barked at him, he’d grab a shovel and beat it to death.

If his mother had taught him even a shred of respect for the old and young, he wouldn’t have pushed a woman in her seventies to the ground. He wouldn’t have then tossed a few hundred yuan in her face like he was shooing away a beggar before just walking off.

You could just imagine how helpless Yu Dalin’s wife must have felt in that mont: the dog she’d raised for years was brutally killed, the arrogant murderer stood before her, and she sat on the ground, old and powerless, with money possibly scattered over her body.

’So elderly people are sensitive. They bottle things up, and the more they dwell on it, the more aggrieved they feel. Maybe after a while, the emotional strain would build to a breaking point, and they could just have a stroke and die unexpectedly.’

Back in the interrogation room, Yu Dalin said nothing. He just stared fixedly into the distance, letting tears well up in his old eyes.

Shen Xin sighed, said a quick word to Ma Chunxin, and opened the door to leave.

He went ho to sleep.

「The next day」

Shen Xin woke up bright and early and drove straight to the police dog base.

He had already inford the bureau that for the ti being, he would just clock in and work directly from the police dog base.

It would save him the trip of going to the precinct first and then to the police dog base.

The selected police dogs were in place and their favorability was rising quickly. For the next while, Shen Xin needed to focus his energy on moving this project forward.

When he arrived at the base, Li Jiahui and the others hadn’t started work yet.

Shen Xin went to see Celestial Skill first.

He hadn’t even gotten close to the whelping room when Celestial Skill inside must have caught his scent and heard his footsteps, as she had already started barking.

Then she started scratching at the door, unable to contain her excitent.

Shen Xin opened the door, and she imdiately bounded forward, pawing at his pant leg and licking his hand nonstop.

She was truly attached to Shen Xin.

After a mont of affection, she led Shen Xin over to her puppies and barked continuously, as if telling him to look.

Shen Xin sat down cross-legged and played with the little pups.

It seed like Celestial Skill had given all her nutrients to her children; each one was plump and adorable.

It was just like they say online—mutts burn through their good looks as they grow, so they’re incredibly cute as puppies.

So people say you shouldn’t touch kittens or puppies because if they sll like a stranger, the mother dog or cat might reject them or even eat them.

Anyway, Shen Xin touched them.

And as soon as Celestial Skill saw Shen Xin petting the puppies, she even picked one up and placed it in his lap.

"Are you giving them all to ?"

Shen Xin asked with a laugh.

One wasn’t enough for her; she brought every single one of them into his lap.

Celestial Skill barked twice, her eyes seeming to say, ’They’re all yours.’

Shen Xin rubbed her head.

Without him doing much of anything, the favorability icon above her head showed signs of increasing by another bar.

Shen Xin was secretly amazed. ’Celestial Skill’s favorability is rising scarily fast.’

He got up and mixed so food for her.

After staying with her while she ate, Celestial Skill obediently went back to nursing her pups.

She just lay there, watching Shen Xin without blinking.

Just then, Li Jiahui arrived.

She took one look upon entering and teased, "The pups’ daddy is here bright and early."

Shen Xin rolled his eyes dramatically. Going along with her joke, he blurted out, "If I’m the dad, then you must be the mom."

The mont he said it, he realized the ambiguity in his words.

Unexpectedly, Li Jiahui stared in astonishnt for a second, her eyes wide. "Doesn’t that make us a married couple?"

Their eyes t. Shen Xin froze.

A flash of panic quickly appeared in Li Jiahui’s beautiful eyes. She hurriedly said, "No more joking. So, how are they?"

As she spoke, she crouched down next to Shen Xin and gently stroked Celestial Skill.

Her ears were a little red and felt hot.

Shen Xin collected himself and quickly replied, "They’re doing great."

’He didn’t even know what she was asking about.’

Neither of them spoke for a mont. It wasn’t until footsteps were heard outside that Li Jiahui abruptly stood up. "Um, well, I should go clock in... no, wait, I already clocked in."

She was rambling incoherently as she quickly walked away.

Shen Xin thought for a mont, told Celestial Skill to be a good girl, and then got up to head to the kennels.

He needed to let Tian Kui and the others out.

Looking at Tian Kui, Shen Xin suddenly rembered sothing. Tian Kui had killed the dog from the rescue shelter and then refused to leave the scene. ’Maybe that also had sothing to do with Yang Wenqing.’

’For example, maybe he killed one of Tian Kui’s companions right in front of him.’

’That’s why he held such a grudge against Yang Wenqing, and why he was about to lunge forward when the black dog tackled him.’

For now, Shen Xin’s main goal was still to play with the dogs and increase their favorability.

Dogs, after all, only have so many forms of entertainnt.

So besides playing with them, Shen Xin also had to watch them to make sure they didn’t fight or get into any "trouble."

With them all mixed together, if he wasn’t careful for even a second, Tian Xian would be over there trying to harass a female dog.

Shen Xin whistled, pointed at Tian Xian, and the perceptive Tian Kui shot off like an arrow.

With a flying leap, he tackled Tian Xian to the ground.

A flurry of biting and tearing followed.

Of course, he didn’t go for the kill.

Tian Xian whimpered and begged for rcy, not daring to fight back at all.

Only then did Tian Kui relent. He circled Tian Xian twice and barked a couple of tis as a warning.

’I haven’t even made my move, so where do you get off trying?’

Of course, fights were unavoidable and could break out the mont you looked away.

But this was also an opportunity.

When they fought, Shen Xin would step in and discipline them. That was the only way they would learn their lesson—that this kind of behavior was wrong and would get them punished.

Plus, he had Tian Kui keeping an eye on them.

Shen Xin stuck to his original plan: he wanted Tian Kui to be the one to manage this pack of dogs.
