Rei Ao trusted her completely. At level 31, Sui was already slightly stronger than Frieren.

Once the trio had departed, Frieren wasted no ti.

Sui looked puzzled, but gumi rely shook her head.

Deciding to trust gumi's judgnt, Sui held her position, though she stayed alert.

"How are you? Let see your wound," Utaha said anxiously as she knelt beside the girl.

"Mommy…"

The girl's voice trembled as she looked at Utaha, calling her "Mommy."

The single word struck a chord in Utaha's heart.

Her sympathy surged, imagining the plight of a child injured and alone in the forest.

Her eyes fell to the gaping wound, and she quickly tore a strip from her own skirt to use as a bandage.

But as she bent her head down—

A crimson glint flickered in the girl's eyes.

Her mouth opened, revealing rows of shark-like teeth as she moved toward Utaha's neck.

She lowered her staff, pointing it at the creature's twitching hand.

The creature froze, then its body dissolved into glimring particles, disappearing completely.

The bizarre scene helped restore so of Utaha's sanity.

She went on to explain that demons lacked human traits like family bonds or genuine emotions. Everything they did was a mimicry aid at capturing prey.

Even their language was just another tool of deception. Negotiating with them was utterly pointless.

Demons didn't need to consu humans to survive—but they preferred to, reveling in the hunt.
