Utaha couldn't help but remark on the sight. Yet in the next second, she froze up—because, without warning, Rei Ao pressed his lips to hers.
"!!!"
Wh-what just happened?!
Her mind went blank. Rei Ao's hand found its way to her exposed waist, making her flush with embarrassnt.
"Mmph!"
She leaned backward, cheeks blooming with color.
"W-what are you doing?!"
Utaha asked, utterly flustered.
"Hm?"
"Weren't you just confessing to ?"
Rei Ao tilted his head innocently.
"Huh?"
"When did I—?!"
Utaha carefully replayed her words in her mind. She was certain she hadn't uttered anything resembling "I like you" out loud.
"Sigh."
Rei Ao let out a small sigh.
"For a light novel author, you sure don't know that 'The moonlight is beautiful' is actually a way of saying 'I love you'?"

Utaha's mind felt doused with cold water. She did know that phrase could be an indirect confession—she'd seen it in novels.
She had just used that expression offhandedly, only aning to complint the moon. But apparently Rei Ao had taken (or pretended to take) it as sothing else.
Clearly, though, he was teasing her. Because the mischievous grin on his face said it all.
"Hahaha, Utaha, you're too easy to trick. I did it on purpose—I just felt like kissing you."

She trembled slightly. So he was ssing with , she thought. Should she be angry? Furious? But instead, she pushed her hands to his cheeks and kissed him—briefly but boldly.
Breaking away, she said earnestly:
"Rei Ao, I like you!"
No beating around the bush—an outright confession. Rei Ao wasn't particularly shocked. He calmly pulled her onto his lap so she was straddling him. Their foreheads touched, hot breaths mingling as they locked eyes.
"I should be the one saying that. Utaha, I like you."
"Even though I like a lot of people, are you still willing to like back?"
"Yes, I am!"
Utaha answered without hesitation.
A second later, Rei Ao leaned in and kissed her again—this ti more passionately, a true deep kiss. Under the moon's glow, the temperature rose between them. Utaha soon felt his intense desire, face blushing bright red.
"Rei Ao, I—I'm ready…"
She was trembling with shyness. Resting against him, she whispered in his ear:
"How… about we go inside?"
But Rei Ao only gave a soft chuckle and shook his head.
"Utaha, tonight the moonlight is beautiful. I'd like us to appreciate it… together."
"Eh?"
Utaha picked up on the aning behind those words. Did he an… here?
"Mmh…"
A thrilling jolt shot through her, and, as if by so unseen force, she nodded. Imdiately, she felt a pair of big hands swiftly advancing.
"Pop!"
Under the moonlit sky, bits of cloth fluttered in the sea breeze. By the flickering firelight, Rei Ao admired her loveliness.
"Utaha, you're far more beautiful than the moonlight."
"Mmph!"
Despite being entirely exposed to the night air, she didn't feel cold at all, thanks to the warmth he provided. But Rei Ao's intense gaze filled her with embarrassnt. On instinct, she wanted to cover up—but her hands changed course in mid-air, grabbing at the only thing left on him: his swim trunks.
Summoning her courage, she blurted:
"Th-this isn't fair. You have to match !"
She wanted so control, after all.
"Heh."
"Utaha, there's no turning back now."
He placed a large palm on her head.

"Gab, don't stay up too late. We have a test tomorrow."
Raphiel reminded Gabriel, who was hunched over her computer ga.

Gabriel replied without taking her eyes off the screen.

Raphiel sighed inwardly. Gabriel, once an industrious, kindhearted angel, had beco a model "net-addicted girl." Who knew whether she'd really registered Raphiel's warning? With no other choice, Raphiel just shut the door and left.

A mont later, Gabriel furtively glanced at the door, then quietly removed her headphones. She tiptoed over, pressing an ear against it, and, hearing no movent outside, snuck back to her bed. Raphiel had gone back to her own room—perfect.
But why was Gabriel acting so secretive, ditching her favorite ga? Because she'd picked up a new bad habit. Closing her eyes as if recalling sothing, Gabriel's cheeks heated up. She began fidgeting beneath the covers.
"Rei Ao…"
She whispered his na, face beet red, eyes brimming with a strange mix of satisfaction and restless frustration.
"What's happening to ?!"
Gabriel, the little angel, felt thoroughly confused. She had no idea why her head was constantly filled with thoughts of Rei Ao, or when this habit had even started. But every ti she finished doing it, she slept so soundly.

Outside the door, Raphiel stifled a gasp with her hand.
"So that's what Gab-chan's been up to…"
