*Clack!*
The phone was placed back down on the table as General Sanders' face turned solemn.
General Sanders contemplated for a mont before looking at Clovis. "While I appreciate your help this ti, I wonder if you're trying to manipulate my way of commanding…"
Clovis raised his eyebrows, a bit surprised by the reaction.
Even the others were staring at both of them suspiciously, wondering if a fight was going to break out.
Clovis calmly shook his head. "I have no such intention. If you don't wish to cooperate, then I'll follow your direction. Even if there's cooperation, you will be the one commanding, General Sanders."
General Sanders observed Clovis' expression for a bit longer before giving the answer. "I've just gotten word that this cooperation will be based on my choice. That's why there is sothing I want to confirm. Mr. Clovis. Is sothing going to happen in this assembly?"
"!!!" The people widened their eyes, not expecting a hidden danger.
"What makes you think so?"
"First of all, I have heard the report regarding what happened in Curea. I know that your information network is not ordinary, so I can't help but wonder about the reason for this cooperation.
"Why would you choose to work together with another country when we can reach a certain result?
"And I found my answer. You. You must have found out sothing. While it's true that you are currently a national asset, it doesn't an you are not a liability either. If we look at what happened with the lesviet family, I'm sure you understand my point.
"Based on all the suspicions, I co to the conclusion that there might be sothing going on that people like don't know about. And looking at all the people here, there's no one that can beco that reason except for you."
Clovis smiled. It looked like General Sanders' ability was real.
Now that Sanders had ntioned this problem, Clovis chose to reveal a portion of that information.
"I am a double-edged sword. I'm sure everyone knows it to a certain extent."
This was a confirmation that Clovis' existence could beco a blade that would hurt them as well.
It all stemd from the fact that he was Clovis Hacfield. The Hacfield family was infamous in the world, so there would definitely be a lot of enemies.
Sanders looked down. He was definitely aware of the danger.
However, the country wanted to promote Clovis in this assembly, so they decided to take the risk.
But it looked like the risk was much higher than he had originally expected.
"Shouldn't you let know about this concern first?"
Clovis shook his head. "There's no need for that. My plan is to head off much further than the group. This way, I will bring the danger away from you. At the sa ti, our team will also accomplish more, which is aligned with what the country is planning to do by putting here in the first place.
"However, I know what it ans for to leave the group as well. The group will be exposed to danger.
"That's why I want to cooperate with Curea to ensure a 100% survival rate, which is also aligned with your wish, General."
All the leaders finally understood what kind of man Clovis was.
Clovis sounded selfish, but at the sa ti, he was also a very responsible person. Then again, everyone coming here was for the benefit, so they couldn't say much about his plan.
The fact that he revealed his plan here showed that he was planning to cooperate with them in the first place.
General Sanders crossed his arms. Clovis' plan didn't sound too bad. The danger seed to be coming for him, so if he left the group, it wouldn't affect them too much.
At the sa ti, Clovis would be racking up achievents for their country in his own way.
The hole that he left behind would be patched up through collaboration.
Besides, the collaboration was already up for discussion, considering other countries might attempt this to get a bigger share.
Sanders nodded in understanding. "I have seen the entire picture now. In that case, we will arrange it the way you want, but this assembly will last for a whole week.
"For the first three days, you have to be with us. If we let you leave straight away, we will be seen as a useless country."
"That much is understandable." Clovis nodded.
"In that case, let's continue with the plan. I will adjust the entire plan from the beginning. It ans we will accept the cooperation agreent."
Now that they had made a decision, Sanders continued with the briefing. He had to make a lot of adjustnts, but the result was quite satisfactory.
As Clovis and the others began to leave, Sanders stood up from his seat.
"Sanders. Are you going to be alright with this?"
"The assembly this ti might beco much more dangerous than anything we've seen so far."
The two generals were showing their concern.
Sanders asked, "So, what do you two think? Should we drop him from the lineup?"
"Well…" The two exchanged looks.
Their wry smile was enough for an answer. They didn't want unnecessary trouble.
Sanders shook his head helplessly. "I think about it differently from you both. If the higher-ups want us to bring him, it's because they have considered the pros and cons.
"In fact, they must have thought about this before even signing him and giving him that city.
"Indeed, he is Clovis Hacfield. The Hacfield family's reputation is known across the globe. So, they must have expected the potential danger in signing him.
"I know that our governnt might not be squeaky clean, but they should be competent enough to asure the pros and cons of having Clovis with us.
"That's why, right now, Clovis Hacfield is the symbol of Absalom. He is a citizen of our country.
"As the military, it's our duty to protect the country and its people. We won't abandon him."
