ZAGE's February ga releases remained steady as ever, and the team was now fully focused on the March launch. However, there was no ignoring the massive promotional campaign Sonaya had unleashed for their upcoming MGB (Mugen Ga Box). Flyers were plastered across the city, television ads ran on every major network, and the tagline boldly proclaid, "The Best Console," openly stating that it would outclass ZEPS.
Zaboru simply chuckled at the audacity. 'This is how the '90s were—an and direct advertising.'
Inside the ZAGE headquarters, a high-level eting was taking place. Gathered in the boardroom were Zaboru's core team—Yugo, Yuna, Shinsuke, Sayuri, and Kudou—along with the new HR Departnt Head, Ichidai Kenzaki, and Admin Director, Rika Kishimori.
Shinsuke leaned back in his chair, arms crossed. "So, boss, how do we respond to Sonaya's provocation? They're outright challenging us, claiming our system is outdated and that their new console will obliterate us."
Yugo scoffed, visibly annoyed. "Heh! There's no way their gas can match ours. We've been leading this industry for a reason."
Yuna remained quiet, her expression unreadable, though deep down, she felt a pang of guilt for having once considered switching to Sonaya. , while Ichidai adjusted his glasses and offered his perspective. "I believe we should counter with a strong ad campaign of our own. If they're going to be this aggressive, shouldn't we push back?"
Rika nodded in agreent. Sayuri, however, took a more cautious stance. "We still don't know how successful the MGB will be or how much impact it will have on the market. However, we need to ensure that we maintain our position as the industry leader."
Zaboru smiled and nodded. "All of your concerns are valid, but there's no need to panic. On March 21, we will release our planned lineup of gas, and this ti, we'll be launching them globally. I've already confird that Sonaya will also be releasing on a global scale the sa day, so this will be a direct battle. But don't worry—I've been planning a counterattack for months.
For the national market, I have prepared a special TV ad that will air right after their launch. Believe , this ad will be a ga-changer, and I guarantee people will love it. The executives exchanged glances, intrigued by Zaboru's confidence. With their concerns eased, they wrapped up the eting and returned to their work, waiting for MGB's official release that night.
anwhile, at Sonaya Corporation, another eting was taking place. In attendance were Zanichi Renkonan (Zaboru's father and head of Sonaya's Ga Console Departnt), Aoyama (Sonaya's CTO), Makoto (Head Engineer), and Hikaru Kurata (CEO and major shareholder).
Hikaru took a slow sip of his coffee, watching the latest MGB comrcial playing on the office television. A smirk crossed his face. "I'm sure this ad of ours will destroy ZEPS."
Makoto grinned. "Heheh, of course, boss. And you, Zanichi? How do you feel about crushing your son's console?"
Zanichi leaned back, a smirk of his own forming. "You're short-sighted if you think an ad campaign alone will make Zaboru cower in fear. He's not soone to be underestimated."
Hikaru nodded. "True, Zaboru has proven himself to be exceptional. However, with our aggressive advertising campaign, the public's attention will inevitably shift to Sonaya. Even on a national scale, there are areas where ZAGE has not yet reached, and we're capitalizing on that."
Aoyama, ever the strategist, shifted the conversation. "What about our global strategy, boss? When are we expanding beyond Japan?"
Hikaru confidently responded, "We already have. We've flooded the US market with flyers, ads, and retail promotions. We're making sure the MGB is seen everywhere."
Aoyama nodded in approval. Hikaru's gaze returned to the television, where the MGB ad was still playing.
The comrcial started with two kids playing a console that resembled ZEPS. One of them frowned.
"This is boring! I wish there was a better console!"
The other kid nodded. "I don't know... maybe there's sothing new out there! Let's check it out!"
The scene transitioned to an electronics store, where they excitedly discovered the MGB. "Whoa! Look at that! The design is so cool! And it cos with four gas right out of the box! That's amazing!"
Monts later, the kids were shown playing the MGB at ho, laughing and having fun.
"This is way more fun than the old console!"
The ad ended with a bold tagline: MGB – Mugen Ga Box! Available Now at Your Nearest Store – March 7, 1992!
Hikaru grinned. This ad was his idea. He knew that Sonaya couldn't yet compete with ZAGE's ga quality, but they had a technological edge. The MGB had better performance than ZEPS, and while their gas weren't at Z-Man or SpongeBob's level yet, he believed it was only a matter of ti before Sonaya caught up.
His true goal wasn't to win through better gas but to manipulate public perception—to make consurs think ZEPS was outdated.
'Heh. I'm sorry, Zaboru, but you should know that in this industry, playing dirty is just part of the ga.' He smirked, satisfied with the ad.
What he didn't know was that his plan wouldn't work as expected.
