After the interview with the Asahi TV reporter, Sakaki continued waiting in line at Dekapon Electronics. He had already decided to buy all six new ga releases while skipping the ZEPS Special edition. While it looked cool, he already had his standard ZEPS console at ho, which had never let him down. For now, that was enough.
As the store finally opened and his turn arrived, Sakaki stepped forward, ready to make his purchase. But the mont his eyes landed on the store display, he froze. Encased in glass at the front of the ga section, the ZEPS Special edition glead under the bright store lights. His eyes widened, sparkling with admiration. Seeing it on TV was one thing, but in real life, it was on an entirely different level. The design was breathtaking. He wasn't the only one srized—many other custors around him murmured in awe.
The price tag read 22,000 yen, a full 10,000 yen more than the standard ZEPS he had bought back then. But the upgrades were undeniable. The console's surface was adorned with intricate artwork, making it feel like a collector's masterpiece. The controllers were not only stunning but included improved grips and an exclusive aesthetic that set them apart from the regular ones. And then there were the special features listed on the display:
Limited Edition ZEPS Special ConsoleIncludes Four Special Edition ControllersFour Controller Ports for Local MultiplayerExclusive Hidden Content Only Available in the Special Edition
Sakaki let out an impressive whistle. "Damn! Look at that console! It's beautiful! And the controller designs are insane!"
He was completely captivated. But as quickly as excitent filled him, disappointnt set in. He simply didn't have enough money to buy it. He watched helplessly as custors rushed in, snatching up the ZEPS Special edition left and right. Within minutes, it was completely sold out. He let out a defeated sigh before shaking his head and turning his attention back to his original purchase.
"Well... at least I got the six gas I wanted!" He forced a laugh, trying to console himself, but deep down, he knew the sting of missing out on the ZEPS Special would linger for a while. With his gas in hand, he sighed once more and quickly made his way ho, eager to imrse himself in the new titles. As he walked, he couldn't shake the thought of the Special Edition. Maybe I should start saving up now... Who knows? They might restock.
anwhile, in the United States, Leo Garrick walked into Renner Electronics, a well-known store in his neighborhood. Posters of ZEPS were plastered all over the windows, proudly advertising its arrival in the U.S. The store's owner, William Renner, was a middle-aged man who had personal connections with Ryan Miller, making him one of the key retailers selling ZEPS in the Arican market. The store was busier than usual, with eager custors chatting excitedly about the new console. So had already ford a small crowd near the counter, pointing at the ZEPS display.
Leo approached the counter, excitent practically radiating from him. "Mr. Renner, do you have ZEPS in stock?"
The store owner chuckled and nodded. "Of course, kid." He pulled out a brand-new ZEPS box and placed it on the counter. "199 dollars for the console. And which gas are you interested in? Here's the full list of what we have available." He handed Leo a brochure detailing the 27 gas currently on sale, along with their prices ranging from $40 to $45. This brochure had been designed by Zaboru and Erald Wings, who decided to mass print it to ensure players knew exactly what they were buying—27 gas at launch was no small feat.
Leo's eyes darted across the page, his grin widening with every title he recognized. Super Mario Bros. 2, Castlevania, Contra, Rad Racer... No way! These are all must-haves! He barely hesitated before looking up at William, determination shining in his eyes. "I want them all!"
William's eyes widened in surprise, but then he let out an amused chuckle. "Heh, coming right up, kid." He quickly started packing up the console and the full lineup of gas. As he placed each cartridge into the bag, he shook his head in amazent. "Not every day you see a kid go all-in like this. You must be a serious gar."
Leo nodded eagerly. "I've been waiting for this ever since the TV Ads! ! I've never seen a console launch with this many gas at once. I don't even know which one I want to play first!"
As Leo left the store with his new collection, he could hardly contain his excitent. I can't wait to play this! Rad Racer first! No—wait. Maybe Castlevania? Damn, this is going to be the best weekend ever!
Across the U.S., the sa scene repeated itself in electronics stores everywhere. Excited custors lined up, stores sold out of stock within hours, and word-of-mouth spread rapidly. ZEPS had officially taken the Arican market by storm. News stations were already picking up on the unexpected success, and retailers were rushing to place additional orders to et the overwhelming demand. What had started as a Japanese gaming phenonon had now exploded into a worldwide craze, and Zaboru's vision for ZAGE was unfolding just as he had planned.
