Now reading: Chapter 362 - 323: ZEPS September Release and Sakaki Playing from Another world Game Developers in Japans 1991, a Game novel by Zaborn1997.

Saturday, 28 September 1992

Sakaki, who had recently beco obsessed with ZGB, was now just as hyped for the newly released ZEPS gas. This month, while ZAGE had only produced two in-house gas for the ZEPS, there were also four third-party titles, keeping the player base more than satisfied. But for Sakaki, the one title he was waiting for above all else was Fist of the North Star.

He'd been anticipating this ever since seeing references to it in *Kick Master *and subtle leaks from ZAGE Power Magazine. That subtle nod had sparked his curiosity, and now, with the cartridge in his hands, Sakaki was about to dive into a post-apocalyptic martial arts fantasy that promised blood, revenge, and pressure-point explosions.

"I wonder what this ga will offer. Damn, will I actually get to play as the Hokuto Shinken successor from Kick Master?" Sakaki muttered with giddy excitent.

He unboxed the ga carefully, taking a mont to appreciate the cover art. Inside was the standard Z-card, now a staple among ZEPS gas. This one read: "I will et you when you destroy the Mugen Rock."

"Huh? Mugen Rock? What's that supposed to an?" he mumbled, puzzled. He shrugged it off. "Eh, I'll find out later."

Slotting the cartridge into his ZEPS, he powered on the console. An 8-bit version of *"You wa Shock" From *Zaboru previous world blasted through the speakers, pixelated flas dancing across the screen in rhythm with the iconic the. The opening cutscene rolled in glorious 8-bit animation: Kenshiro stood defiant, his muscles rippling as he battled punks in a dystopian wasteland.

Sakaki was already jamming out. "This is insane! This intro is too catchy!"

After the opening, the screen faded to the title nu. Sakaki hit START, and the story began to unfold. The cutscene showed Kenshiro getting ambushed and betrayed, his chest pierced by Shin, the man who would kidnap his beloved Yuria. Seven scars marked Kenshiro's body, forming the Big Dipper constellation. He was left to die.

But he didn't.

Now, he was back.

Now, it was ti for revenge.

"Whoa... this is dark. But I'm in. Let's do this," Sakaki said, gripping his controller.

The gaplay started. It was a 2D action-platforr, sowhat reminiscent of Kick Master, but noticeably more refined. The animation for Kenshiro was fluid, and the controls responsive. The enemy design, a horde of shirtless Mohawk-sporting punks with spiked leather gear, added flavor and grit to the ruined city backdrop. Kenshiro also can level up and gain exp from beating enemies.

Kenshiro began with only two special techniques available:

Hokuto Shogekiha: a ranged palm strike that blasted enemies back with chi energy.

Omae wa Mou Shindeiru: the legendary move that required special energy orbs. Kenshiro would dart around the screen, jabbing pressure points on all visible enemies before turning dramatically to face the screen. Text would flash: "Omae wa Mou Shindeiru." One second later, every enemy exploded in pixelated gore.

Sakaki lost it. "That. Was. Glorious!" he shouted.

He kept pushing forward. Every level was more difficult than the last. He had to ti his dodges, switch strategies, and earn EXP to unlock more Hokuto Shinken techniques. These included:

Hokuto Reppa: A flurry of punches with One Hand

Hokuto Shinbaku Satsu: Exploding heart technique Kenshiro Punch From afar make enemy heard explode

Hokuto Ujoken: Chi blast from mid-air

Each new move ca with a unique animation, keeping things visually fresh. The ga also can change which technqiues the player want to use by asssigned them to specific input in start nu.

Eventually, he reached the mid-ga boss: Shin.

"Oh man, it's you. You're the one who kidnapped Yuria!" Sakaki muttered, narrowing his eyes.

Shin, the boss, fought with the elegance and ferocity of Nanto Koshuken—a martial art built on slicing air with pinpoint precision. He hurled razor-sharp energy slashes in wide arcs, gliding through the air with acrobatic flips, and conjuring blade-like shockwaves that cut through the screen with relentless aggression. Sakaki found himself getting overwheld early on, forced to morize Shin's relentless patterns. The fight was fast-paced and punishing, but with persistence, Sakaki adapted. He began baiting Shin's aerial attacks, then countered with a quick roll into a rising combo, finishing with a fully charged Shogekiha that landed like a shockwave bomb—knocking Shin back hard and giving Sakaki the edge he needed.

After a hard-fought duel, Shin fell.

"Let's go!!" Sakaki fist-pumped.

The reward? A new Hokuto technique unlocked: Hokuto: Shunkan Shōgeki Ken.

This move was perford with a special input: pressing right-right-X or left-left-X depending on Kenshiro's facing direction. When activated, Kenshiro would blink toward the nearest enemy and unleash a devastating one-inch punch, and if the enemy died they will explode!.

Sakaki was in awe. "Dang! This ga is absolutely brutal—but in the best way possible. love it!"

After Kenshiro cleared the first stage, the screen transitioned into a mysterious black room unlike anything before. The walls shimred with lunar motifs, and in the center stood an imposing black and gray boulder etched with kanji: "Mugen Rock." Standing beside it was none other than Zabo-man, arms crossed, his presence as cryptic as ever.

"Destroy this rock and I will reward you," Zabo-man said, his text flashing dramatically across the screen.

Sakaki's eyes widened. "I knew that Zabo-man card ant sothing special! So this is the challenge. Let's go!"

A prompt appeared: Accept Zabo-man's challenge? YES / NO. Sakaki slamd 'YES'.

Kenshiro took a deep breath on screen, his aura swirling. Suddenly, a rapid input sequences appeared for example like: Left, Up, Down, Right, X, O, O. The tir ticked down fast.

"Oh man, I have to nail this in one go!" Sakaki muttered, hands poised. He input the sequences with blinding speed. With a flash of light, Kenshiro let out a war cry and shattered the Mugen Rock with a furious chi-infused strike.

"WHOA! That was intense!" Sakaki cheered.

Zabo-man nodded solemnly and awarded Kenshiro a hidden technique: Konoha Senpu—a spinning crescent kick that delivered rapid hits and stunned enemies temporarily.

"Wait, that's not Hokuto Shinken... this must be Zabo-man's own style," Sakaki said, intrigued. "Man, this ga keeps surprising ."

He eagerly assigned Konoha Senpu to his special move slot, ready to try it out in the next battle.

He played for hours, getting deeper into the gritty narrative of Kenshiro's path of vengeance. The mix of action, skill progression, and brutality he really enjoyed this ga.

"ZAGE did it again," he murmured. "They really nailed it this ti. and everyti"
