Now reading: Chapter 747 605 Adaptive Evolution (Extra)2 from Ant Lord in the Star Realm, a Sci-fi novel by Qian Li Song Yi Xue.

Dragon Cypress: "I can clearly feel that my Adaptive Evolution ability can grow as my level of Evolution increases. It will also be enhanced as my Comprehensive Physique, Carapace, Perception, Strength, Life, and other physical qualities are strengthened."

Dragon Cypress: "Law Abilities can be further enhanced through various pathways! The directions for enhancent include the range of adaptation after Evolution, Ability activation speed, the consecutive number of activations, and so on."

Dragon Cypress: "This includes the Law Divine Patterns on my Carapace. Their function is to gather information, process it, and coordinate my body to undergo Adaptive Evolution. These Law Divine Patterns can also be enhanced. After enhancent, information gathering and processing will be faster, and the activation speed of my Adaptive Evolution ability will be quicker."

Ink Orchid: "Got it!"

Ink Orchid, eager to try, said, "Dragon Cypress, co, let's try burning you with flas!"

Dragon Cypress was speechless.

Dragon Cypress: "There's no need to actually burn . Just closely observe, feel, and gather the necessary information."

"I'll help you!" Ink Orchid declared. Without further ado, she waved her tentacles. CRACKLE! Scorching red, high-temperature lightning struck toward Dragon Cypress.

Ghost King Sophora Seeds and Wangbai Seed make an excellent combination. Ancestral Divine Power provides a robust Comprehensive Physique for Adaptive Evolution.

Flying, extre cold, high temperatures, lightning, Wind Blade cutting, and blunt force from large rocks—these are all considered relatively Primary-Level 'Adaptive Evolutions.'

Ink Orchid unleashed a variety of abilities on Dragon Cypress one after another, causing Fragrant Cypress, Silver Cypress, and the group of ants to tremble with fear.

Dragon Cypress simply underwent Molting a few tis and basically adapted. His body was strengthened from the inside out, greatly enhancing his resistance.

"Dragon Cypress," Ink Orchid tilted her head, thinking, "I rember you ntioned a third mode of Adaptive Evolution? Pupa Change? Chrysalis Transformation? Does it require life-threatening harsh external stimuli? Can you explain more specifically?"

"Mantis! What are you trying to do?" Dragon Cypress asked, suddenly alert.

"Don't panic. I have no other intentions. Just plain curiosity," Ink Orchid said, then asked, "If your head were chopped off, could it be reattached? Rebirth through Chrysalis Transformation?"

Dragon Cypress was rendered speechless.

Dragon Cypress: "How could that be possible! If my head were chopped off, I'd definitely be finished."

Dragon Cypress: "However, I did think of a very necessary evolutionary project that might trigger the 'Pupa Change'."

Ink Orchid's eyes sparkled as she pressed, "What is it?"

Dragon Cypress: "Suffocation!"

Ink Orchid: "Um—"

Ink Orchid fell into deep thought.

Indeed! All life needs to breathe. Dragon Cypress, Blue Soldiers, Blue Ants, and even the Dominating Throne possess the 'Hydrology Shield' ability. The primary function of the Hydrology Shield isn't defense, but rather deep-sea subrgence. Hydrology Shields can extract fresh air from the water for them to breathe and sustain life. If suffocation triggers Adaptive Evolution, could it an one wouldn't need to breathe anymore? That would make underwater travel more convenient, saving the Primordial Energy otherwise used for the Hydrology Shield.

Ink Orchid urged, "Hurry up and try it!"

Dragon Cypress: "No rush. Chrysalis Transformation is the ultimate failsafe of this Adaptive Evolution ability, and also its limit. It shouldn't be triggered lightly. Caution is paramount."

"I'll rest for a few days first."

When the Ant Nest was designed and constructed, many ventilation holes were intentionally left. Dragon Cypress used his Earth-Stone Ability to block the holes in the King Nest and seal the entrance.

Lying quietly on the Throne, he opened his spiracles and breathed forcefully, consuming the special components in the air that sustained life.

Outside the cave, Ink Orchid led the other ants, guarding him. She occasionally scanned the area with her spiritual power to check on the situation. The mighty Insect King had better not accidentally suffocate to death...

Half a day later, inside the cave, Dragon Cypress gradually felt his body unable to absorb the airborne components necessary to sustain its functions. His blood began to circulate faster, and his breathing involuntarily quickened.

After so more ti, it beca difficult to find any life-sustaining air components in the cave's atmosphere. As more ti passed, Dragon Cypress's head grew heavy, his body felt weak, and his blood raced wildly.

I'm going to die...

With sheer willpower, Dragon Cypress actively triggered his Adaptive Evolution ability. The Law Divine Patterns on his Carapace lit up, shining with bursts of silvery-white light.

Strong Primordial Energy erupted from within him, and the silvery-white Divine Marks began to spread, instantly covering his entire body. They ford a Primordial Energy Light Cocoon, and Natural Primordial Force rapidly gathered, pouring into it.

Dragon Cypress's consciousness blurred...

Did it work...?

Outside the cave, Ink Orchid and the ants noticed the change. They were astonished and eagerly awaited the result.

Nearly half a day passed. The Origin Force Fluctuation settled, and the silvery-white Primordial Energy Light Cocoon rapidly contracted before disappearing.

Beneath where the Light Cocoon had been, a dark-green, oval-shaped 'chrysalis' ford from carapace had appeared.

CRACK! CRACK! CRACK! The ant chrysalis shattered. Tentacles and six legs poked out first. A slight burst of his Furious Rage ability caused the chrysalis to crumble completely, and Dragon Cypress leaped out.

BOOM! Ink Orchid smashed the stone wall blocking the cave entrance with a swipe of her claw and darted inside first.

The other ants followed closely behind.

"Dragon Cypress?"

"Great King?"

"Did it work?"

"Great King, does this an you don't need to breathe anymore?"

"—It worked!" Dragon Cypress opened and closed his spiracles. After briefly assessing the changes, he explained, "Now there are two modes. One is for a normal environnt, allowing normal breathing, which is no different from before. The other is a sealed breathing mode. In this mode, my body operates in another form where the release of Physical Strength slows down. Over ti, my bodily strength will weaken."

Dragon Cypress concluded, "It's not perfect. Only about half successful."

Ink Orchid: "So, you can now stay subrged and travel in the deep sea for extended periods without needing a Hydrology Shield?"

Dragon Cypress confird, "Correct—"

Ink Orchid suddenly fell silent.

No need to breathe. This was a fundantal change to a lifeform's traits. In the Natural Star Realm, the vast majority of animals and plants needed to breathe.

Azure, Southern Gorgon, and Black Yellow focused their spiritual power, drawing closer.

Black Yellow excitedly suggested, "Dragon Cypress, I've thought of an evolutionary project even more suffocating than suffocation!"
